Everything perfect minus the restaurant staff!
I travelled with a family of 4. Perfect clean room with great interior design. Wonderful amenities, and an all round nice ambience. The pool bar staff and restaurant staff really let this place down. They have no manners at all and work s.l.o.w. We pay for a service so it is only fair they are trained to smile and be polite whilst working efficiently.
The day I arrived in bouganvillea the latch for the lock was broken.qhen I told the front desk they fixed it immediately. The customer service qaa great and everyone was friendly. Had the deluxe with a separate kitchen which is really great. Other guest we went with didnt upgrade so the fridge was small and so was the appliances.
Beautiful for Time Away
This was my second time to Barbados and it was lovely. The hotel is located about 10mins from the airport in a quiet district - which is what I wanted! If you seek a location with lots happening (food, nightlife, etc.) this is not the place unless you choose to take a taxi to St. Lawrence Gap and other locations. The lobby was attractive with indoor mini-waterfalls, lots of comfy seating and a view of the beach. We arrived early and requested early check-in which they made available for us by noon (check-in is at 4pm here) - with an upgrade to a one-bedroom suite. And a bottle of wine. As we waited for the room to be ready - they tagged and kept our luggage and we had access to their hospitality suite - a/c, washrooms, couches, wifi, books, bins and a change room. There is a well-outfitted gym and the change rooms had lockers, full showers, vanities and such. Our room was on the top floor - be aware that there are no elevators so for some a ground floor room will make sense. The porter was available and did his due. The bedroom boasted a king-sized bed, tv, chest of drawers, iron and board, extra blankets, side tables, clock radio, safe and bedlamps. The closet was large and the doors were full mirrors. The bed was comfortable, but the pillows were too soft for mt tastes and offered no neck support which is important. I wanted to bring my own cervical support, but alas! The bathroom had a double vanity, walk-in shower (with a seat) and hair-dryer. We had ample linens and robes daily! The amenities are in-wall for shampoo, conditioner, body wash, hand soap and lotion. There was a kitchenette that we did not use - but it had the usual - stove, fridge, kettle, full set of pots and pans, cutlery, dinnerware, drinkware, etc. The BIG miss on this one was there was no coffee and coffee maker - this would have added that extra touch! The living area was as any - couches and tables, another tv and chest of drawers. Sliding doors (with additional screen doors) opened out onto a balcony that overlooked the courtyard and the beach. There are two restaurants - both were good - but pay attention to the breakfast offerings at Calabash. They offer a cold "continental" (no hard boiled eggs) - but it suffices well. This is one price. If you choose to add an egg dish from the station it then qualifies as having the "full buffet" - even if you took nothing else from the rest of the buffet. At US$55 for two - the price was far too much for what was offered. On the other had - Siam which is their Thai restaurant gives you a lot of food for a good price! The food tasted excellent (pad thai and fried rice) and the location on the beach on the super-quiet side of the hotel compound was marvelous. There were 4-ish pools (one was a kiddie pool). Pools were clean, swim-up bar and tons of lounge chairs. We had two beach towels and a beach bag in the room for our use. The hotel is ON THE BEACH. Waters were generally calm, gorgeous turquoise, and white sands! The beach a bit lower down (1 minute walk) on the compound was usually quiet - maybe 5 people. We did take drinks at the bar, but they were watered down and didn't give us any vibes so we didn't do that again. Taxis were always on-site. Wifi was dismal in the bedroom but better in the living area. Daily housekeeping was good. Lots of security on the compound and beach. Outdoor areas were always clean, bright and comfortable. LOTS of plants, flowers and trees everywhere. Staff were always pleasant and helpful - shout-out to Rachana! We used Karma spa services - a beautifully-appointed spa! Peaceful, clean, spacious, tea and water on offer, music appropriate, lighting soft, everything exquisitely scented and the massage was sublime. I would highly recommend for couples or a solo trip.
Wasn’t what we expected
The staff was extremely warm and friendly, the food was good and the rooms were nice. Unfortunately there is no elevator, so climbing three flights daily was a lot. No vending machines for ice or snacks. And during out visits the seaweed took over the majority of the beaches on the island. We weren’t impressed for various reasons and will not return to the Island/Country. But the people are the most friendliest we ever met to date. Very proud with love for their families, homes and country.
I lucked out and ended up on the main follow, mere steps from the beach, poor and bar, Let’s start with the rum punch, dangerous, on a hot day remember to drink water too. Bajan rum punch can be a lot for some folks! The cleaners were amazing, having a fridge and stove was a big key. I’m a tiny eater so I always need a kitchenette. The staff you’re super lovely. I ended up fostering this cute little kitty while I was there. I’m happy I know people out there because I loved seeing some real gems. My trip here made me fall in love with the island, I’ll be out there as a Canadian expect in the next two years so if they want some website development or help with marketing, they could totally hit me up! Hoping to be back here soon, but if not, I’ll just drop by to say hit to the beautiful and friendly staff.
