Top Notch Service, but hotel needs upgrades

Wonderful time. Relaxing. Beautiful weather. Service from Ruperta and Candido in Jaal-ha was amazing for breakfast and lunch. Remembered our drinks daily even when I would change things up. Only reason I give this resort a 4* is 1. the walk from building 8 to the beach is long and shuttles hardly seen 2. Getting up for a lounger at 5am so I had somewhere to sit and out of the sun is horrible 3.needs some updating. Starting to show its age I would return again because the service I received from the staff, but changes, upgrades need to be completed and more shade/loungers/chairs are a MUST.

    Destination Wedding

I went to BlueBay Grand Esmeralda for my destination wedding this past month. I can say the highlight of the resort is certainly the staff, specifically our wedding coordinator Daniela. She truly is amazing at her work and worked diligently to manage every situation that came her way. The wedding was exactly like what we saw in all the photos. She is very detail oriented and my wife and I are very grateful to her for picking up the pieces of our wedding after being short staffed. She helped put all of our concerns at ease. I honestly don't know how she manages all of the weddings she coordinates. My one true grief with the resort is that she is the only wedding coordinator. She is visibly over worked but keeps working with a smile and no complaints. I hope and strongly encourage the resort to hire more wedding coordinators. This would balance the workload more and allow the wedding couples to be able to have more timely communication with their coordinators. Something that is paramount for planning such an important event and moment in a couple's life. She is only one person and to manage every wedding for such a large resort is simply too much for one person, no matter how good they are at their job.

    Blue Bay Esmeralda-Think Twice

Where to even begin...currently standing in a line up to check out-at least 75 people waiting-TWO employees slower than molasses- this is the first hotel i've been to in twenty years that doesn't do automatic checkout on your credit card...seriously?? Cockroaches in our drawers & lo & behold...in our luggage that was on a shelf in the closet... Thank god we looked before we packed.... Filthy old crumbling resort-no hot water in vanity- tile enclosed tub that was bloody dangerous to get in & out of-Thermostat had a mind of its own.. We were here for a wedding with approximately thirty five family members...fire in bldg 1 (4 of my family members rooms) one hour before wedding.... Were told they could not get into their rooms and get their clothing or personal items... The fire truck took sixty minutes to come... but the guys on the roof with the buckets of water....certainly helped 😱 88 yr old nana had her safe opened & lost $1000 US & 1 credit card-nobody cared...pretty sure it was maintenance who came in to fix her shower.... Staff is VERY badly trained- no one cares about your complaints and they sure don't do anything to make it better.. they promised us late checkout, and then told us absolutely not..too busy to accommodate. The biggest thing we noticed and something everyone should be aware of is that this resort sells day passes to locals- i love the locals, but it is obvious that they get preferential treatment at this resort and there are hundreds of them... Had we even had an inkling of this, we never would have come here. Lotz more to say with pics-will post more as soon as I get through this ***** line...😠

    Chairs

So how about this chairs game? Don't you guys have money enough to buy chair to all guests? Old people are supposed to put towels on the hard grounds? That's just ridiculous. That's the minimum you guys should supply to your guests. That's very very disappointing

    Do not reccomend! Go elsewhere

Save your money and go elsewhere. This resort is more of a 3 star at best. Checkin was routine. We stayed in the 800 block. Rooms are mold infested and covered with paint but mold spots peaking everywhere. Zero water pressure and cold showers. Fan drips water while your on the toilet. Pools: absolute nightmare trying to get a seat or a lounger. Multiple people stealing our $30 usd towels and loungers. Multiple altercations. When we approached staff they told us to steal towels back. Zero help in this regard. Super disappointed we haven’t got to sit down somewhere other than concrete yet. Beach: never saw it be cleaned, crushed shells everywhere making it hard to enter water. Water was infested with jellyfish and multiple people getting stung. Food: meh at best. Left over hot dogs cut up and re heated for breakfast. Overcooked bacon. For alacarts we did Italian and steakhouse. Steaks were tender but cold. Sides were garbage, cold uncooked vegetables at the salad bar. Italian, I’m told was the worst pasta they ever had while I was stuck in the room with a sick child. Would not allow my family to bring back a dish without a $50usd charge. Money grab. My children survived off the burgers. Omelettes were standard at the egg station. Drinks weren’t good, beer on tap is not edible without lime. Other guests were for the most part very rude. We are sorry we wasted our vacation here!! Shops are all extremely overpriced and this resort will price gouge you any chance they can. The entertainment is probably the only decent thing here. One villa burned down while we were there- a fellow traveller shared that her grandson was in his room durring the fire. Was re assured by many staff that building was clear durring evacuation, but indeed was sleeping durring the fire.
