Birthday, with aunt and her husband(he celebrated his birthday too).
Spent the most amazing time at this hotel. The staff is just amazing. First you meet Kenisha, and Adrian at the front office. These two are so warm, accommodating, and quite entertaining. Good old banter was had by all 😉. Then I met ELVIS at the pool grill. This young man, is just a gem. He accommodated my “diet” restrictions. Snapper sautéed with all the vegetables, eaten on lettuce 🥬 leaf. He deserves a salary raise. Elvis had Scott, and Kany working with him(they both kept the drinks, and the service coming). Glenny was a superstar as well. O,Brien is a boss mixologist, and a funny man too. They kept us entertained the entire trip. I will miss their fishing expeditions. Stingray was caught one night(Kerone) was going to cook it.🙈. Garth and Jayanna were the best, professional servers anyone could ask for. Overall these individuals made our first visit to this island memorable. Now this is coming from a Jamaican, who lives in NYC, so it takes some awesome people for me to write this. Now let’s move on to the our visit to the Alexander. Our domino, drink mixers are the two lady gems. Alexander, and Smiley are just the best. They can play dominos, and have a sense of humor to go along with their infectious spirits. Ask Alex to make you the PURPLE MONKEY 🐒. 😉 Last but definitely least is Mr. Fegain our shuttle driver. He is my new best friend. I bother him so much for information, he had no choice but to be my friend. Great guy, professional, and a funny dude. Get to know him by chatting him up 😉. Met Raymond, as well. All in all TCI needs to increase all these mentioned individuals a salary increase. Oh wait I forgot Javan at the Alexander bar(secret turquoise drink), and Leslie. Not enough can be said about all of these people that took such great care of us. Property is quiet, and tranquil. We also saw nurse sharks 🦈(mind blowing). Best food are at the Alexander, as well as the Beach House.
Good Hotel can be better with minor adjustments
I was surprised by this hotel, since it's all inclusive I came with very low expectations. The hotel itself it's nice. The room had a moldy smell that I suspect is from people coming in wet from pool and beach. The beach is beautiful and calm. The drinks offered are everything from normal bar to some top shelve like black label and grey goose. The food was from 1 to 10 a solid 6. Nothing spectacular, but not bad. I was expecting much better food. The service is what surprises me. Everyone was very nice, big smile and helpful. From the bartenders, to the waitress, even the water sports people guys were extremely nice. The shuttles they offer I did not like their schedules. 1 van every 2 to 3 hours. I was expecting continues service. STAY AWAY FROM TAXIS, They will kill you in fees. They charge per person, any short ride can easily be $8 to $12 per person. (we got charged different fees for the same ride, depending on who it was.) We got smart at the end and got a rental car, these are inexpensive and you can go anywhere. Do yourself a favor, you can't get lost, island is too small and you will save a ton of money.
Blue Haven Resort Turks and Caicos
Beautiful blue water and neat Marina area. Fabulous two bedroom, two bathroom suite with a large den and full size kitchen and eating area. Outside porch with a lounge chair and table with four chairs amongst the Palm trees was great for lounging outdoors. The Staff was friendly and helpful. The beach area was on the smaller size but had plenty of chairs and umbrellas. The two sister properties Alexandra and Beach House are a complimentary shuttle ride away. We enjoyed Five Star Dinners and cocktails at night at each resort. Our first visit to Turks and Caicos - we hope to return in the near future!
Customer service is not a priority at this resort
I took my law office staff to the all inclusive, Blue Haven for a 5day/4night escape. The room was a 2 bedroom, ocean view suite with a price tag of $7,000 for 4 nights. I've traveled extensively, and expected top knoch service associated with a resort which advertises as a "luxury resort" and bills travelers accordingly. I want to point out generally the Caribbean vibe is very friendly and helpful, however the Blue Haven is sadly the exception. 1. The pool bar is designed in an awkward manner, such that it facilitates the staff's deliberate attempts to completely ignore guests. The bar stools sit around 4.5 feet up (which are difficult to climb on), and the circular bar in the middle, then sits several more feet up above that. Accordingly, you cannot look directly at the bartenders and they can easily avoid all eye contact with guests, which they deliberately do. The bar is occupied by around 4 resort employees, who joke, laugh with each other and completely ignore guests who are politely requesting drinks and/or food. As a guest you must try several times to get a response from an employee, which makes you feel very awkward. Only after multiple attempts will you be accommodated, and then the drink and/or food comes with a staff flat affect and you are made to feel like a nuisance. 2. Housekeeping is no better. Even if you request services multiple times throughout the day (9am to 4pm), housekeeping will refuse to come until around 5-6 PM, when of course everyone is showering for the evening. This happened to us everyday. Everyday I went to the front desk at 9am ask for service, again around 1, each time I advised we would be showering around 5pm. Nevertheless housekeeping would show up just as we were showering for the evening meal (with our beach towels as we had no service). Housekeeping would then shove new towels at us, and report we refused service as we didn't get out of the shower for them to clean the room. 3. The front desk. Upon arrival instead of being ushered into the air conditioned front desk we were asked to sit in the hot lobby. Noone was is the glass enclosed, air conditioned front desk area, yet the hotel employee walked back and forth between us during the check out process. Each day when we requested room service/cleaning we were met with the same attitude as the pool bar employees, indifference and treated as if we were a nuisance. Overall the Caribbean is beautiful, but there are many, many other venues and islands where the experience will be amazing. I would advise anyone who wants to be treated with respect (when treating others with respect) skip this resort.
