Location - what can I say
OK - first and foremost - it is a beautiful facility and the staff are excellent. The location is perfect and the sunsets are remarkable. Staff were constantly cleaning and scrubbing - well maintained. As far as the all inclusive - not all that impressed. The pool bar was well attended, and the bartenders worked to keep everyone served - BUT - the drinks are less than great. They use "local" brands of rum, gin, whiskey. That being said - when you see the bartender pouring from bottle to bottle - it makes you wonder exactly what is in there. The two buffet locations - have a wide variety of food. Recommendation - get there within an hour of the opening of each meal time - otherwise the items are picked over and not always refilled. Night meals are by reservation only - Arubean Seafood - I got sick - not impressed Mexican - middle of the road - nothing special Japanese Hibatchi - excellent - Myrna is the hostess - outstanding ! Italian - Above average - nice setup Japanese - sushi side - excellent - again Myrna and her staff were great ! Overall - I did not feel like the drinks (watered down - local brands) or the buffet food was worthy of the price we paid for an all inclusive. We have done all inclusive on cruise ships in the past and NEVER had an issue with the buffet or the drinks onboard.
I really enjoyed my stay at the resort they rooms were clean and the resort itself was beautiful. The only compliant I have they should have more adult activities during the evening. For example have some nights where the couples and singles individuals can dance and meet one another.
I'll start with the positives. The resort is beautiful, the rooms spotless and the location is perfect. The restaurants have great food if you are lucky enough to get the reservation you desire. I recommend making reservations ahead of time. The waitresses in the lobby bar and very friendly and excellent at their jobs. In the buffet, Danilo was by far the best employee we encountered in the entire resort. Negatives, The food in the buffet was very limited and in my opinion not very good. The food was poorly prepared and most of the time under cooked. With the exception of Danilo, the employees were not very friendly and you often had to repeatedly ask for things or get them yourself. The attitudes and service at the pool bar was very poor.
Staff was great..not sure if the all inclusive was worth the price since there were many places to eat and drink close to the Barcelo resort property.. The food at the resort was excellent and everyone was extremely courteous and helpful.. Aruba is truly one happy Island..will definitely go back some day
Birthday dinner on the beach
This trip was to celebrate my 40th birthday. I primarily chose this resort because the hotel was owned by the same group that owns the royal hideaway in mexico. This resort's staff did not disappoint. They are truly fantastic! The concierge on the ninth floor especially Elizabeth(sorry I cannot remember her exact spelling) assisted my husband with all the details of my bday dinner on the beach. Another stand out on the resort was Renato. He was one of our servers on the beach. My special requests (because I'm a very picky eater) hadn't made it to the kitchen staff yet. He stepped in and got everything squared away with the kitchen. Our food arrived perfect and delicious. He brought out a birthday cake and they all sang to me. We saw he several times during the rest of our stay and each time he came over to greet us. The staff as a whole were the best. I would stay there again hands down. The resorts location is within walking distance to shopping and restaurants. The beach is great and well maintained. The housekeeping staff was wonderful as well. Love the towel decorations on the bed! Food at the buffets was of good selection for even picky eaters. And lastly the gorgeous sunsets on the beach!
