The ONLY place to stay in Aruba! Staff, food, beach and location - you can’t go wrong! Warm greetings upon arrival and seamless Royal check-in with friendly faces (thank you Veronica, Flora & Liza!). Food in all restaurants is fantastic and the service at each one is always warm and friendly. Extra shout outs to the hardworking staff at all the restaurants (Royal Club – George, Lissette, Layla, Nasha, Jaime, Carolina, Yulianne); The buffets (Zotina, Sabina, Elena, Claudia, Juan, Walter and John); Mexican (Rodell and Gershwin); Italian (Amando, Carlos, Raio, Edward and Carmen); Kyoto (Myrna). And there is also Sylvester – who always made a point to say hi to me when he saw me! Sadly I know I have missed a lot of people who have taken care of us at the restaurants and I apologize. The towel and beach crew always so hard working to make sure everyone has a spot, a lounge and is happy (thank you Frankie, Randy, Rasheed, Juan and Reynaldo 😊). The beach bar always fantastic with Francisco in charge and Omar – both working quickly and drinks yummie! The waitresses on the beach (Veronica and Shaniqua..)..I can never have enough words for these ladies who work their tails off all day making sure no one is dehydrating! They are beyond fantastic! Our room was always clean and tidy – no complaints! Nathaly did an amazing job and making sure everything was set in order, no garbage or empty cans laying around…exceptional! There are a ton of amazing people that I am sadly forgetting (I’m getting old..memory isn’t as good!) The relationships we’ve made with the staff of Barcelo and the overall care they take of us is why we return! We will not go anywhere else; why would you when you know where paradise is 😊

    Moldy mess

My experience was horrible. The staff and workers were very rude and disrespectful. They gave us a room with mold in it. Now this was supposed to be a vip room. We were given the run around about them not having another room available and coming to remove mold

    Aruba great barcelo resort horrible

My wife and I along with family and friends went to barcelo resort in Aruba. Our room contained mold. My sister room smelled like mold. We complained every day but nothing was done. The workers and staff are rude and disrespectful. We won't go back

Great stay with a few "bumps"

After reading reviews of this hotel I really wasn't sure what to expect. Upon arrival, I found the check in staff and process very challenging; the check in people were downright rude. That set the tone for the day and I figured this hotel would be terrible. Luckily, everything after that was great. The rest of the staff was amazing. Nicest employees ever - kind, helpful, courteous. The food was much better than I thought it would be. The Italian and Japanese were outstanding. The beach, however, was a huge disappointment as the sargassos was all over the beach and in the water and there were no attempts to even clean what washed ashore. I understand this was beyond their control but I do think they could have tried to clean it as best they could. Other than that, everything else was excellent. I would recommend this hotel.

    Absolutely HORRIBLE

It is one of the worst establishments we have ever stayed in. For the price, please seriously consider the Holiday Inn. It may not sound fancy, but we stayed there twice before. Food is INCREDIBLE, and service is equally impressive. The rooms are spacious but not fancy. However, their private beach and overall experience make it well worth it. Regarding Barcelo, we were a large group for an after-wedding celebration. The entire group, over ten rooms, had nothing but negative experiences. Starting with the aloof, unprofessional front desk staff, the food = is inedible! We all paid for an all-inclusive meal and had to eat out for every meal. One of our friends had mold in their room and had difficulty breathing. After speaking with the manager, he informed them he would have to get back to them - and that was the end: NO care or regard. The property is extremely dated. There is musty old carpeting and mold in the ceilings of the lobby bar. The list is endless.
