Barcelo Trip June 2025
Barcelo definitely wasn’t what we were expecting. The location is great. All else is very mediocre. The sewage backed up and poop was floating all over the side walk. They seemed to be equipped for it meaning it happens often. Sockets hanging from the walls, moisture not controlled which makes the resort a little smelly. Air conditioner and shower in my room has issues. Bar cups at the pool look like mouthwash cups.

Don't stay at the Barcelo
The rooms smelled of mildew, no towels in room, broken balcony door, unfit balcony furniture, sunken mattress. I could go on and on!

An enjoyable night for a large group including a toddler
Mary Jean was one of our servers tonight and she went above and beyond to help our 3 yr old who was scared by the noise and the heat and the flames. She allowed me to have an enjoyable time as well as eat the best meal! Eduardo was also wonderful with taking care of our large groups. Eduard and our other chef (I’m sorry I’m not sure of his name) put on a great show but cooked an amazing dinner! Myrna is always happy face to see when you arrive there. Kyoto has the most professional and welcoming staff. Thank you for a great evening.

Don’t go they stole 2 of our cell phones
Two local women bought day passes & were drunk & stole 2 cell phones out of our beach bag. Foods terrible especially at buffets. Overnight marathon was very loud with no prior notification there was one happening while staying there.

DO NOT STAY HERE
I have never wrote a review in my life and this hotel deserves a review of 0 stars. MANAGEMENT TRIED TO BREAK INTO MY HOTEL ROOM AT 2am. YES you read that right 2am the nighttime hotel manager tried to break into my boyfriend and I hotel room. This may have been the most traumatic experience of my life and I will forever live with PTSD from this experience. On our 3rd night there we were abruptly woken out of deep sleep at 2:30am to aggressive pounding on the door. We did not know who it was or what was happening. When my boyfriend sprung out of bed frantically and got to the door the door was opened and caught on the dead bolt. my boyfriend slammed the door shut on whoever these people were screaming at them and they proceeded TO OPEN IT AGAIN. They were attempting to enter out room in a very aggressive manner at 2:30am for which we still had no idea why. I was on the bed shaking screaming and crying frantically as we both were unaware what was going on. I called the front desk screaming to send security up as there were people banging and opening our door at 2am. she proceeded to tell me it was management. why would management be at our door pounding this aggressive and at this hour you may ask??! yeah we were wondering the same thing. I say this was an attempted attack or robbery!! Why would management wait until 2am to attempt to enter the room unless it was for an attack!!! We were terrified to say the least. We did not go to sleep the ENTIRE remainder of our trip. We went down to the lobby after trying to clam down to find out what was going on and in attempt to get some clarity. The manager who decided to try and break into our room said himself I would ask for compensation. ADMITTING what was done was wrong and beyond unprofessional. IF WE DIDNT HAVE THAT DEADBOLT ON OUR DOOR THERE WOULD HAVE BEEN TWO BIG STRANGE MEN STANDING OVER US SLEEPING IN BED AT 2am. It is a disgrace the hotel did this and i’ve talked to 3 managers in the hotel after this occurred and every single one was appalled and said how wrong it was and did not have answers as to why there staff did this at 2am. You would think they would compensate us for the entire stay but instead they offered us one night free if we came back……I will never go back to this hotel in my life and that’s what they offered. ANY 5 star hotel would instantly compensate the whole stay and it’s been almost a month since this occurred and we’re still fighting for just getting two nights of our stay back. they won’t even give us that. This hotel and management is a disgrace and I WOULD NEVER STAY THERE AGAIN. highly recommended any hotel on the island but the barcelo. I have never felt more unsafe in my life and more disgusted with how management is handling this traumatic situation.
