    Our favorite all Inclusive Resort!

We just got back from our 3rd time being at this resort. We always stay on the luxury side but also enjoy the grand side as well. It's a beautiful, clean resort, great food, great entertainment, and wonderful people! The pool bartender Carlyle has been there the last 2 visits and his drinks, positive attitude and high energy are awesome! Davon from the entertainment team was always around checking to make sure we were having fun during our stay! The entertainment team is one of the main reasons we always go back! We planned a romantic dinner on the beach for our Anniversary, and Holly came to our room, guided us down to the beach, and took so many wonderful pictures for us! She went above and beyond! The dinner itself was the best meal we had at the resort, and the servers were very attentive. Highly recommend doing this dinner! The lobby on the luxury side always has live musicians/bands playing nightly! The whole resort is always clean, as there are always people cleaning everywhere. Sitting pool side or at the beach, the servers are always around to ask if you need another drink! Everyday at lunch they have a hut set up with different foods everyday so you don't always have to go into the buffet. The beaches are smaller on this resort, however they are beautiful! All in all we love going here for our vacations in Jamaica! We are always so happy while we are there! Can't wait to be back again!

January week at Luxury Runaway Bay

We recently returned from our 2nd visit to the Runaway Bay Bahia Principe, we booked through West Jet Vacations and flew from Toronto. Arrival We used Garreth Brown from Get on Board Tours for a private transfer to the resort which is about an hour away. He had great communication prior to arrival and while on the Island using WhatsApp. We ordered extra cold beer and he delivered. Check in at the Resort was fast and we were led to our accomodations without issue Room: we were in 24303 and had a view of the pool bar and the ocean. The room is exceptionally clean however they are showing their age in some area's, mostly the bathrooms but we had no issues with them. Ala Cartes We were fortunate to have booked 6 meals at the Ala Carte restaurants. We utilized the Bahia APP. All the restaurants were good with no real complaints or issues. The staff always went out of their way to ensure you enjoyed the experience. The Knife and Italian were our two favorites but all had some amazing options on the menu's Buffets The food options were all good in all of them, after the first couple days we only ate at the Los Olas beachside buffet. It is certainly smaller than the Jazmine (Luxury) or the Grand Side main buffet but it had more than enough options, from pasta, omlette and grilled meats they had it covered. Bars Lobby Bar - great staff who remembered you without a doubt. They mixed up any and every drink you could think of. One point of confusion was some days certain alcohol was available while other days it was only available for an up-charge, that was annoying but didn't ruin the buzz. Grand side sports bar - Joel likely made the most consistent quality drinks, we found our selves there on multiple occasions for the good drinks and some air conditioning Grandside Terrance bar had the coldest beer and at least made you think it was Red Stripe Light Luxury Side main pool bar - Some great times there, led by Cornell, Carlye and others I can't recall their names. They were entertaining Entertainment team Luxury - Led by Crazy Legs himself, they were upbeat, always had a smile or a fist pump, too many names to mention, but Crazy Legs and Andre 3000 were the most memorable. Many hours spent in the pool watching them entertain the crowd or dance Beach The beach was enjoyable and had drink service right to your chair Grand Side Beach Definitely the more traditional beach, had a bar at the far end near the nude beach fence. The Jerk hut at that end was not open due to low occupancy. Overall great week at the resort, would return if the price was right but maybe time to check a different place out.

    Beautiful but NOT luxury.

Beautiful ,but there's nothing luxurious about it. They have very minimal entertainment. Prepare to be bored at night if you like entertainment. The food was terrible. They had the same menu EVERY breakfast, every lunch, and every dinner. Our room had a moldy smell the entire time , and little black flies flying around everywhere in the room. 5 restaurants, but they were not all open, only 1 or 2 a night. With the exception of the buffet restaurant.. you need to make reservations before you go to the resort if you plan on eating somewhere besides the buffet. We were there for 4 days and never was able to get a reservation. And they kept saying the hotel was empty because of the time of year. One restaurant was half empty at 7 pm, but they didn't let me in because we didn't have a reservation. If you reserve and cancel, there's a $20.00 fee . The people are amazing. Having said that. If you are used to LUXURY, this is not it. Go with low expectations, and you will be fine.

    Misleading to say the least

Reserved our trip through the Bahia Principe site online (along with communicating with their reps via the phone) BUT found out when I came home to file a complaint that it was actually booked through Expedia. Expedia is NOT mentioned on the site or any of my paperwork. Planned this vacation for my 60th birthday with my adult daughter. First our flight was delayed 2 hrs and 17 minutes because it was not scheduled for take off! How can a full plane not be on the flight schedule? Our all inclusive adult vacation said transportation from airport to hotel and back was included. We were charged $155. After filing a complaint they said this was a "surcharge". If that is true then shuttle service is NOT included as stated in the documents and confirmed via phone calls (2) that it was included. Our check in took 35 minutes and we were the only people in line. Arriving late 9 pm, long check in we now scurry to find food. When getting to our room we find mold along the inside of the shower and in the toilet room. There was also a sagging ceiling panel over the tub that also had mold on it. There was a slipper under the bed (the bed sits high so it was visible when walking into the room) so obviously the room hadn't been cleaned thoroughly. We had the bonus of crying children two mornings in a row in our ADULT ONLY resort. The apparently is a magic line that children aren't to cross over, keeping them out of the adult only area. The family resort and adult resort are truly NOT separate as I was led to believe. We had to share restaurants with families. I love kids but my grandchildren weren't with me and thus I selected adult only. We had a flood in our bathroom and no one came to help clean it or figure out what happened!!! We had to find towels to replace the ones we used to clean up the flood. We did try to get towels thru room service but when we hit the 4 hours mark of waiting we found a staff member to get us towels. The shower gel dispenser wasn't working and the shampoo dispenser was broken and on the floor of the shower. There was evident damage to furniture and counters, horrible visual for the price we paid. The window curtain was ripped so we could not block out the daylight when wanted. The bar was not restocked daily, we had to run someone down for that also (several times). There was a fire in the bathroom outlet. It took 1 1/2 hours for someone to look at it!!! There could have been wires burning behind the outlet and it's like they didn't care. Our reservation was for two double beds, all they had was a king. Good thing I was with my daughter. They never did change our room to two doubles as they said they would. The coffee cups in the room apparently aren't to be taken out of the room by room service when they retrieve dirty dishes. Got my butt reamed for that!!! Is it my responsibility to tell room services not to take the "room" cups. A private beach NOT...security at each end of the beach BUT people in there trying to sell you "smoke" everyday. They come right up to you and try to make a sale. I went there to relax not be approached by people selling stuff. There was a prickly fruit on the buffet that NOBODY could tell me what it was. Was it supposed to be on the buffet line, was it edible? In the end, was NOT worth it. Would not recommend this resort to anyone. In April I took an all inclusive, adult only trip to Cabo and it was flawless for much less money.

Great stay, great staff, Spicy D is the best

This was our second year staying at Bahia and most importantly, the staff if absolutely wonderful! They are kind and caring, friendly. A special shout out to Devon (aka Spicy D) who was our Guest Experience person both years. We kept in touch with him through the year and were so glad to see him again. We had last minute weather changes and arrived a day early (missed our trip to Negril). Spicy D was there when we arrived and helped smooth it all out. We also had some issues with housekeeping and a minor plumbing issue. Nothing huge but again he helped solve the problems. Otherwise it's a beautiful resort and a very nice stay.
