    Very Disappointing

I paid extra to stay at the luxury side of the hotel thinking my experience would be greater...HUGE mistake!! First, they put me in a room that had no wifi connection and the the absolute WORST view imaginable!!! An unfinished building and a junk yard filled with garbage. When I asked to be moved to a room that had wifi, I was moved to a room that was infested with huge mosquitoes! They refused to place me in a better room, claiming to be fully booked, which they were not, because my cousins were able to book a room on the spot the day after I arrived.

Ignore the Bad Reviews we just got back November 7th 2024

I first want to say that I do a lot of reviewing of resorts when determining where to spend my hard earned money. We have been to Cuba, Dominican, Colombia, Mexico, Bahama's and Jamaica over the years and I have to say that overall this past trip was the best of them all. I am usually a small resort type of guy (sunset at the palms size). Even though this resort was massive it was easy to navigate. The pools were clean, it was easy to find a seat with an umbrella and the staff were amazing, the only downfall was the swim up staff. Unless you are a sexy young woman you are not a priority to get a drink so just be patient, the staff at the luxury swim up bar had huge smiles when dealing with the younger ladies but when it came anyone else it was like they changed their entire approach as I sat back and watched laughing. The entertainment crew was top notch, lead by Crazy Legs this team has the energy, spunk and sass that had us entertained every day and even on the rainy days they brought the same energy inside the lobby bar making the best of a bad situation. The rooms were huge, clean and the fridge was stocked everyday. We did have a few days when it wasn't cleaned but we didn't bother making a deal out of it and just tipped accordingly. Loved the jetted tub and double vanity sink. The food was one of the best that we have had on any resort. Don Pablo's, Knife and the beach dinner was our top 3 and we had a la carte every night. There is no problem going to the desk in the morning at the lobby and asking customer relations to see if you can get in earlier or into another restaurant. They were very helpful. The gym was clean, cool and equipped with some of the state of the art items to keep you in your routine, there just was no ab machines but we made due in the class area on the mats. The instructor there was friendly and knows his stuff we appreciated him a lot. The beach.....well....it was the worst that I have encountered. We enjoy our snorkeling and to cool off from time to time in the sea and at the luxury side you are not going to be satisfied here. Bring your floaty and just float as some of the areas are ankle deep . We did get to see a puffer fish and pencil fish and some baby jelly's but that was about it. We did venture to the far side of the grand beach where it was better but still not ideal for what we were looking for. The nude beach was never busy, was swimmable but be prepared for a LONG walk unfortunately it's not on the adult only side for some reason. Overall we would be back in a heartbeat. We did get engaged here over our trip and they decorated our door which was a great touch. Thank you to all that made this trip an amazing one.

Black Girls Do Bike Cycle Jamaica Oct -Nov 2024

I had a fantastic stay with my bike group Black girls do bike. There were over 200+ members attending a Cycle Jamaica bicycle 3 Day Tour Oct 30 - Nov 5. We were able to enjoy all accommodations together. I had a wonderful experience utilizing the gym. I received great lessons on stretching techniques by staff member Jerome. He was very knowledgeable and professional at providing service. The water aerobics he conducted was fun. The poolside activities and shows were absolutely exceptional. The staff conducted a great performance and kept the audience engaged at all times.

Bahia Principe Luxury Runaway Bay - Privilege Member

I had eagerly anticipated my stay at the Bahia Principe Luxury Runaway Bay in October 2024, especially as I had arranged this as a celebratory trip with five high school friends to mark one friend’s 60th birthday. The resort came highly recommended, as my husband and I had enjoyed our prior stay and, based on that experience, we became Privilege members due to the resort’s cleanliness and exceptional staff. Two weeks before the trip, I was contacted by Kayonnie O’Reilly, a Privilege Concierge, who warmly reached out to discuss details to ensure a luxurious stay. She inquired about our bed preferences, room locations, dinner reservations, and transfers, which I promptly confirmed as requested. However, midway through the planning, my contact switched to Shamika Brown, who was courteous but lacked Kayonnie’s warmth. Upon arrival at Montego Bay airport, we were greeted by Coming2 transportation, where our driver Ritchie provided engaging commentary on local sites. Unfortunately, despite his offers to arrange tours for us, our efforts to secure these outings went unanswered, ultimately leading us to make alternate arrangements. When we arrived at the hotel, we learned that the Privilege Lounge was undergoing renovations, which affected our check-in experience. This inconvenience was compounded by the fact that the rooms were not ready, and we were encouraged to have lunch while waiting. This was disappointing, especially given our Privilege status. After lunch, we returned to find that the rooms were not only delayed but also failed to meet our specifications; all three rooms were arranged with King beds despite my explicit request for two Queen beds per room. In response to my concerns, our concierge, Kymani, informed us that there were no available rooms with Queen beds in the Luxury section. As a proposed solution, Kymani offered us rooms in the Bahia Principe Grand (the other side – Family side) section of the resort, which was unsuitable given the family-friendly environment and lack of luxury amenities we had specifically paid for. Additionally, I was advised to sign a waiver to forgo further compensation if I accepted this offer. The alternative was a makeshift arrangement of cots in our rooms, which proved uncomfortable and far below the standard we had anticipated. Throughout our stay, several issues detracted from the experience. Maintenance problems, such as musty odors, doors that stuck, slow drainage, and loose fixtures in the rooms, contributed to a less-than-ideal environment. Furthermore, the limited restaurant options and inconsistent service at dining venues were surprising. For instance, at Picasso, while Xavier and Andrew were notably attentive servers, our experience was marred by delayed orders, incomplete entrees, and the reluctance of the chef to meet with us regarding our concerns. The first night we went to dinner, and it was lovely at Picasso. Our server unfortunately cannot remember her name, was quite courteous. Two of us requested additional entrées and received them. We subsequently had to have dinner again at Picasso (limited restaurants available), and while the setting was lovely and our server was courteous, our experience with the meal and service had several disappointments. Two of us previously requested additional entrées and received them without issue. However, this time, when three of us requested an additional entrée (the Rack of Lamb), Andrew, our server, remarked that the Chef "wouldn’t like that." I informed him that we had been accommodated with extra entrées on our previous visit a few days ago and when I was there with my husband months ago, but despite this, we experienced a significant delay in receiving our meals. When our entrees finally arrived, our second entrée of lamb was not served as anticipated. Instead, a single rack of lamb was split between the three of us, and it was unfortunately overcooked. My own main entrée of duck was also overdone, despite my request for it to be cooked too medium. Upon requesting to speak with the Chef to understand the issue, I was informed by Andrew that the Chef would not be coming out and was also denied the Chef’s name. After waiting approximately 25 minutes, the manager, Rudolph Fisher, arrived, yet he seemed unaware of the situation and unbriefed on the details. Rudolph then brought another individual from a different restaurant, who identified himself as the Sous Chef. Unfortunately, he was not wearing a nametag and refused to provide his name, which left a very unprofessional impression. As a Privilege member and a guest on vacation at an all-inclusive resort, I was disappointed by how our concerns were managed. Having worked in the hospitality industry (Disney Cruise Line) myself, I expected a more attentive approach to guest experience and recovery. Despite these disappointments, there were highlights. The cabana service was a bright spot in our stay, where the full bottle service and attentive staff contributed to a memorable celebration for our friend’s birthday. The cabana server and bartender made the experience enjoyable, although there was some miscommunication regarding food options available from other resort areas. Throughout the week, Brianna from Guest Experience checked in daily to gauge our satisfaction. Although I appreciated her diligence, I chose to manage my frustrations privately to avoid impacting my friends' enjoyment. I would like to commend Brianna, Ashdane, and Nephi from Guest Experience, as well as Janice and Nyoka from Privilege, for their professionalism and consistent service. Regrettably, I am left disappointed with the Privilege membership. The assurances of elevated service, room availability, and specific access promised during the sales presentation have not been met, and even prior benefits like restaurant access and exclusivity were lacking. While I hope that these issues can be addressed to restore the quality that initially drew me to Bahia Principe Luxury, I am currently reconsidering my Privilege membership due to this experience. Did not receive: • Unlimited a-la-carte reservations. • Chef’s exclusive dish at no additional cost in specialty restaurants • Discounts on Wine List and Special Dinners • WiFi Premium – Very spotty • Entertainment throughout the day – cancelled or no-show or no DJ NOTE: on the sleeping accommodations. Noticed a large group came in while we were there, Black Girls Do Bike, and from talking with them, some of them received rooms with two Queen (Full size) beds.
