Great stay
Visited for a week after a cruise over New Years Eve. Our first impressions weren't great, the rooms were not ready and were told to come back at 3 as were the other people from the cruise, it was just a nightmare. When we were finally taken to our room it was a disability room on the ground floor. We went back to reception and asked to be moved to a standard room which we had booked on a higher floor. We were finally taken to a room on the 3rd floor which was great. It was very spacious, had everything you needed. The shower was scalding hot, but this was fixed the following day. When we checked in we were offered some restaurants (couldn't pre book on the app) so we opted for the steakhouse. The majority of the menu was fish (I don't eat fish) so we had the bread and shared a steak, it was very underwhelming considering it was new years eve, after a few days talking to other travellers the same menu was in all the restaurants by the sounds and they found it equally underwhelming. Never the less the rest of the evening made up for it which a pool party and fireworks. Thankfully after our first day it vastly improved, the grounds were lovely, and you could use all the other hotel facilities but we preferred the Ambar. This seemed to be the case for others not staying at the Ambar, 2 days we were there large groups not staying at the Ambar descended on the pool bar, they were so loud and rowdy, smoking in the pool, it just wasn't really necessary. The food was good in the beach restaurant place and the main buffet, you could always find something! Our favourite restaurants were the steak house (not on New years Eve) and Naan (Indian restaurant at Esmerelda) the tepanyaki restaurant the food was good but there wasn't much of it and the 'host' was the rudest woman ever with no people skills, she turned so many people away without explanations. Avoid the Greek so disappointing we had to go to the sports bar to get food after (highly recommend that though! All in all a great resort, staff are ok it is all very tips driven but we kind of know how that works now. Would recommend to others.

Great Experience
Perfect getaway for my wife and I. Not far from the airport, nice private transportation, pleasant staff, fun daytime and evening activities, lots of opportunities to dance which my wife likes, especially silent disco. Rooms are very comfortable. Our routine was... Wake up, put towels on chosen beach/pool chairs, work out, east breakfast, shower put on suntan lotions, sit by beach, read, swim, walk the beach, lunch, play backgammon at lunch, read, nap at beach, go back to room around 4pm, romance, shower, drink at lobby bar, go to dinner, go dance, go to sleep, repeat.

Won’t come back. Wouldn’t recommend it.
Went to the hotel the last week of December to spend the Christmas break. The people in the hospitality area served the guests very poorly. They had no answers to basic questions such as the Christmas menu. They were not helpful at all. The towels provided by the hotel for the beach/pool, need to be changed. One day we were given towels with holes or stains on them. The room was average. The hair dryer seems like a toy, rather than a device that dries your hair. My husband got intoxicated with food from the hotel one day prior to leaving and we spent our full last day in Punta Cana at a hospital. Terrible experience. The only positive thing was the beach and water which were amazing, but we have to thank Mother Nature for that.

We travelled here over Christmas and new year for 3 weeks. We had a corner suite 60201. The room was really spacious with a beautiful bath. Great location. The speciality restaurants were great especially Limbo and Portofino. Yurts was good as well and the buffet awesome. There is so much to choose from, anyone that says that they struggled with food was most likely looking for issues and awkward! Room service was good. The wings at the sports bar were the best. We didn’t try the snack bars as we were always too full. The coffee shop was on par with Costa or Starbucks including the chocolate chip cookies, cakes and mini sandwiches. In the buffet the “coffee coffee” guy is memorable. The beach was stunning, watch out for tarantulas in the palm trees. The pool and beach service was excellent and the servers were always on hand to top up drinks. There were always sunbeds avi ale on the beach and around the pool- if you struggle, just ask one of the staff members and they will find some and you can choose the location. The Christmas Eve gala meal was phenomenal. On Christmas Day there was a bbq much around the pool serving a variety of meats including tomahawk steaks cooked to order. New Year’s Eve was also a great feast with so much variety for everyone. The little carts ran regularly and were easy to navigate. Room service was prompt and easy. We used jungle juice spray and didn’t get bitten once by mosquitoes, sand dead or no seaums. The room cleaners were efficient and cleaned the room daily, replaced towels, coffee and drinks from the fridge. The safe was secure and we didn’t have any items go missing. We were very fortunate with the weather for the entirety of our stay with only some very, very brief showers on a few of the days (less than 5 minutes). We only left the hotel to go on organised trips as the area surrounding the hotel (road side) didn’t look like the best of places to venture out on foot. The beach side was safe and looked like you could walk for miles. There were a lot of vendors on the beach, but they didn’t pester you- they just walked around with the goods that they were selling. We walked around all of the other hotels ( including fantasia - we didn’t think that we were allowed to access - but security waved is in and said Ambar are allowed- I don’t know if this is a new thing as we were told that we weren’t allowed). The other hotels all looked nice. There was a mangrove in the centre of the resort and we always looked out for the white bird with long legs each day! There are lots of shops inside of the resort at each hotel. There is also a shopping village that is nice to walk around. The mini golf was fun. There are also tennis courts and a water park along with a wave rider. The gym was well equipped on Ambar, there are also two others but we didn’t go into those. The Hindu Nann restaurant was our least favourite, but everyone has different tastes. We have travelled to Bahias in Mexico and the brand is very consistent between countries. Overall we wouldn’t hesitate to return back here and would recommend it. Great holiday.

Wonderful!
Incredible vacation with excellent service. Beach and pools were beautiful with amazing weather. The staff at this hotel could not have been more welcoming and available to assist. Antonio in the lobby is the nicest person with an incredible memory and a master at customer service.
