Terrible sleep
If you want an early night dont book this hotel. We traveled for 12 hours with a -4hour time difference to arrive in our room (to us 2am). Also had full day excursions booked 6am-6pm. Not every day we like to have an early night but the night we were exhausted were and unable to sleep really upsets the mood. Our room which is directly next to the main stage for nightime entertainment making it impossible to go to sleep any time before 11pm as there is constant singing and bass from music 8pm-11pm.

Great Resort
Great vacation! This Adult Only resort was clean and everyone was friendly. Most food was better than other all-inclusive resorts we have stayed at. Our room had a swim up pool, was 5 minute walk to the large pool and 10 minutes to the beach which was kept free of seaweed. Plenty of loungers were available on the beach. The pool area did get a little crowded with loungers but there were plenty if you got there early. Nighttime entertainment was good to excellent and activities going on during the day were lots of fun. The fitness center was adequate and they have a doctor on duty 24 hours daily which we did utilize for an infection. The only issue we had involved transportation from the resort back to the airport, but this had to do totally with the transportation company and not the resort. Our Butler/Concierge -Ysael-was absolutely fantastic at fixing the problem for us. He could not have handled it any better! Overall, it was a great experience.

Some areas of the hotel need attending too.
A la carte restaurant El Olivino Even though the setting is lovely. The service in the restaurant is terrible. We had to ask for the bread roll, then we asked for water. The main course of steak was well done instead of medium. I asked for the cheese cart for dessert. Three of our party got their dessert. I had to ask again for the cheese cart. Which I eventually got when the rest of our party had finished. The " La Brisas" buffet for lunch is very basic with the same cold food everyday. If you like fries that's the only item that is hot. The tables and seating is looking tatty, dirty, and unpleasant. When we came in 2020..this restaurant was lovely to eat at. For breakfast & lunch. Now it's more like a canteen area. The other areas are lovely and the other a la carte restaurants are also nice to eat at. The blocks where the rooms are need repainting. Even though they try to patch areas up the paint is splashed on the stairways. When they have the silent disco night, there is no other music that the entertainment staff put on for those guests who don't want to do the silent disco. Which isn't fair. There is a lack of music each night after 9 in the lobby area at luxury ambar.

Friendly staff and good food at Luxury Ambar
My husband and I and 8 friends and family stayed at the Luxury Ambar Jan 17 - 30th. Checking in was somewhat disorganized and our group was not put together in the same building. The room was nice with a comfortable bed, however we had a leak under the sink that had to be fixed, the toilet was not working and had to be fixed and although there was air conditioning, it was very low and they tried to fix it twice, but didn't fix the problem. We were on the 3rd floor in building 63 which is across from the amazing coffee bar and quieter because its location is away from the pool. However, the housekeeper that we had did an excellent job and we even got a "towel swan" each time she did our room. She was very friendly and efficient. This is an all-inclusive resort and it was the best buffet that I have ever had. Many options were freshly made to order and seafood night was our favourite. We tried 10 of the restaurants (here's a tip-reserve them before you get there on the Bahia App) and our #1 was the Limbo, #2 Meat, #3 Greek Mediterranean and #4 Portofino. We were able to go to the Limbo more than once and the service was excellent, the food amazing and you must try their welcome drink, the Angels Kiss. What made the Limbo so special was the staff. From Arismendi being a quick and friendly server, to Imari who undoubtedly not only made us feel welcome, but made us feel special with her sharp wit, friendly manner and she even taught us a Dominican toast! It was a pleasure to meet her and I can see her going far in the resort business! BEWARE, BEWARE, BEWARE of the many OCEAN VIEW AQUATIC employees who work on a commission and try to sell you excursions. This is a company inside the Bahia Principe grounds and NOEL is an employee who ripped us off of $285 US. He promised my husband a one on one dive in 18' of water to swim with the dolphins. My husband is an experienced Naui diver and was eager to do a double dive with a dive master and with dolphins. NOEL took our money, did not give a receipt and did not show up the day to take him to the dive shop. We tracked him down and they refused to give a refund even though the OCEAN VIEW Manager said to return tomorrow and he would get a refund. We went to the Manager of Guest Services at Luxury Ambar, JESUS and he also tried to persuade the company to refund us. He was very calm, spoke perfect English, was empathetic and did all that he could to help us. We want to thank JESUS for assisting us, however, this felt more like an inside job where everyone at OCEAN VIEW knew what happened, which was that NOEL is a thief and a liar. DO NOT book anything with OCEAN VIEW AQUATIC. Although we will not let ONE ROTTEN APPLE ruin our vacation, it was very unsettling to be take advantage of. Don't confuse this company with AMSTAR. We went on a excursion with EMILIO with the Bavaro Runners and thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. He was very informative of everything and we had fun and learned a lot about coffee, cocoa, cigars, went horseback riding and saw the La Basilica De Higuey church! Be sure to go! I have to mention that it is the many staff that make this resort as good as it is. DESIREE was an excellent pool waitress who brought us drinks before we even asked and who always had a welcoming smile. Also, it was very entertaining to watch the dancing pool men who got everyone excited about the aquatic classes, games and of course the foam pool party! Your energy was infectious. Also, a thanks to FELIX who came over to greet us and let us know of the daily activities. Lastly, every single one of us will miss NONO and his "coffee coffee coffee" song and dance every morning in the buffet! Breakfast will not be the same without him! You should visit PUNTA CANADA (as they called it)!

A relaxing week
This was our 3rd trip to the Bahia Principe in Punta Cana but the 1st at Ambar after staying at Aquamarine. We loved the experience and couldn’t fault anything. The staff were great and always accommodating. Thanks to Jesus at Ambar reception for finding us a building closer to the pool (building 67-209). The room was fine and cleaned well by Ireny and her colleagues. Elian, Daniel and Ciprian for taking care of our luggage. Special thanks to Ysael at guest services for his friendly advice and guidance in booking restaurants, etc. A great selection of food with no complaints. A special shoutout to Rodolfo on the egg station (delicious omelettes) along with Robert and Wilkins at Palmyra restaurant, Reynauldo at Portofina and countless others I cannot name. We especially enjoyed MEAT, Portofino, El Olive and Limbo for our a la carte restaurants. We would recommend booking restaurants before you arrive. Ramon at the towel hut, Desiree, Estefania and Karina worked so hard to deliver us drinks at the Ambar pool. We also enjoyed a couple of days at the beach. The entertainment team were great fun too. We will definitely be back. Thank you 😊
