M & L Experience-Fall 2024
Very enjoyable stay at the Bahia Principe Luxury Ambar Resort-Privilege Club. Definitely would consider a return. Staff was extremely helpful, courteous, and made us feel welcomed. We did not have any major issues, but things which we would share for anyone considering the property. There are no elevators on the property for those who may have mobility conditions. We did notice an instance of a couple of bugs, but the staff remedied the situation quickly (spray/fumigation) and to our satisfaction which I attributed to the tropical climate and first floor room. The television signal went out occasionally, but did come back later. Food and beverages were plentiful and good at all locations. Our favorite restaurant was the Palmyra Buffet Restaurant (variety of offerings were outstanding!). The a la carte restaurants in which we dined were good, but not outstanding. The only restaurant that we wanted to try but were not able to enjoy was the Mikado Restaurant; reservations are a must for this one. Although reservations are recommended, most of the restaurants were fairly accessible without a reservation. Beach and pool service was outstanding. If the pool is your preference, get there early to select your lounge chairs as people tend to "mark" them early with towels or personal things. We booked roundtrip transportation to/from resort. On property shopping is available, as well as beach vendors. Overall a very good vacation experience.

Sadly very disappointed as the hotel is focusing on being a club 18-30 resort
We were hoping for two weeks in the sun to recharge our batteries. Front of house staff would benefit with some customer focused training. We had to change rooms 3 times and even the third room had issues. We never had any sleep for the first 6 nights compliments of doors being banged and shouting and screaming in the early hours from other guest. Our final room on the third floor (Block 69) went the extra mile with fighting and a stabbing at 3.00 am. The following night we again had screaming and shouting until the early hours the next evening we had gang warfare at 11.15 pm in the room next door and the offenders tried to get into our room from the balcony. There are no emergency numbers to call detailed in the rooms? Police were called and the offenders removed. The following night it was raining in our room from a leaking air-con unit. The TUI rep was useless and no assistance was given. A great hotel let down by the guest it now wishes to attract. If you are 18-30 the very loud music all day will appeal, if you wish to relax try another hotel there are plenty of excellent hotels in the Dominican.

A bit of a mixed bag, wouldn’t go back
It’s taken me a while to write this review as we actually visited this resort in October 2023, let’s start with the good points, the food on the whole was very nice and the restaurants were nicely presented especially the main buffet and meat, we booked a room with a swim up pool attached to it and found that a godsend when we wanted some relaxing alone time, the big pool on the resort was good and spacious with many seating facilities, sadly that’s the end of the good points, the bar staff especially in the lobby bar were very very rude and the drinks were so watered down, I had a much nicer drink whilst at dinner in the main restaurant, the beach was overran with people trying to sell you things and didn’t personally feel safe down there, the staff on the whole here were very rude and as an English person I found it very difficult to communicate even the simplest thing, the reception staff didn’t want to know if you had a question to ask, the housekeeping staff did a good job cleaning however a particular one we had we tipped on the first day ( maybe a grave error) but for the rest of our time there all she did was hint and harass us for money, we put a do not disturb sign on the door and she still knocked on our door every time, she also came round the swim up bar a joined to our room and harrassed us there whilst in next doors room. The entertainment was next to none on Ambar it was all held elsewhere and the shuttle drivers were rude so we didn’t even bother going to any of the entertainment. There isn’t really anything luxury about this place
