Visited from the uk for two weeks of winter sun. The weather was great 29 degrees. We upgraded to a swim up pool which was lovely but not cheap. We decided to do this after the first two days because getting a sunbed with shade at the pool and beach was difficult. We did not want to be getting up at 6am to reserve these. A common problem that the hotel should address. The room was lovely and kept clean by the excellent house keeping staff All staff are brilliant, cheerful and helpful. Restaurants were ok but nothing special. Yurta was one of the best. The buffet was hit and miss but always plenty of choice. One thing I didn’t like about the buffet was the lack of serving utensils resulting in the same utensils for many different food types. The entertainment was the big spoiler for us. Occasionally they had good singers in the lobby but the majority was geared towards a younger crowd. We are a couple in our sixties and do not appreciate the constant boom boom from the base. How anyone thinks this is good is beyond me. There was no escaping this day or night. For a resort this size it was too much. The vibration of the music was shaking the room and you could not sit on your balcony at night. Day time was bad enough! think I’ve had headache for a fortnight! No nice Latino music or relaxing music. Unfortunately we will not return. Lots of nice aspects but the music killed it for us. Definitely not luxury in our opinion. Probably avoid if you want to relax

This is a very, very nice resort. If you're looking for good value at a good price and well maintained resort this is the place for you.

Ambar best vacation experience of my life.
This was my first trip to the Dominican and it was wonderful. It’s my new favorite vacation spot. The resort is amazing, the staff is so attentive, the food was top-tier and drinks were never ending and delicious. I couldn’t recommend this place enough. It’s perfect for couples. We also visited the other Baja principal resort in the compound and they just as good and family friendly. There’s so much to do there that you will never need to leave the resort. I highly recommend MEAT restaurant, fish market restaurant, Limbo the French restaurant and Portofino the Italian restaurant, which are all located in the Ambar. And don’t forget to visit the sports bar its was fantastic. Make sure to reservations to the à la cart restaurants before you leave on your trip or as soon as you get to the hotel, these restaurants book up fast.

Dissapointed…
We travelled for our birthdays first week of November. This was our 2nd time at the Ambar (we had been to Coba in Mexico before with the kids) and we had fallen in love with the place the first time back in April 2023. The food, the staff, the beach, the pool, the number of chairs or palapas available, all that was as great as last time. The problem was the state of the room and problems that we kept having every single day with it. We stayed for 7 days in room 68206 and these are the problems we encountered across those 7 days….the ceiling fan was making a ticking sound so it had to be changed, the lock on the patio door was non-existant so that had to be installed, the toilet stopped flushing, had boiling hot water only for the whole stay but then there was a day (coming back from a massage at the spa) where we just had no water at all, hotel safe malfunctioned, 2 days the minibar was not filled and on the last day we had cockroaches in the room. In my opinion this room should never have been given to any guests. I feel the place is falling behind in up keeping its room standards. There were a few other irritants but they were more to do with language barriers. We’ve travelled ALOT and thought we had found our go to place but we are not sure if we will return which pains me because absolutely everyone on the staff is excellent.

Great Time.
Great time. Room was big and spacious. Food was okay. Plenty to choose from. Steak house was fantastic. Staff throughout was great. Nono at the buffet was entertaining he was great. And lady at the lobby bar area was fantastic.
