Not bad
Our stay was nice but not fantastic. Pros Lovely hardworking staff Grounds beautiful Decent drinks Cons Junior suites are very very tired. They really do need updating. Due to cracks around and under the door, we played catch the centipede every night when we came in. They were numerous, but harmless Cleaning in the bathroom not upto scratch. The shower head was black Food although tasty is always cold A La car restaurants style over flavour. Best part of the beach is down in front of the quiet pool. No rocks and less waves.

Mexican Racoons (coati) Run this Property
The Mexican raccoon, or white-nosed coati, run this property. They are everywhere including in the main buffet restaurant, they are jumping down from the ceilings as you dine, they are hopping onto the tables, and they are licking the plates that people dine on. Out by the pool and the beach area, they are going up to people for food and those who do not wish to feed them, they still swarm, get aggressive and won't leave people alone including kids. These animals ruined our vacation, especially after seeing them lick the plates that one dines on - just turned our appetite right off. We mentioned it to the staff about how turned off we were and were concerned about safety issues and they said to complain online because only the Director of Operations could do anything and this is the only way for them to notice the problem so this is us complaining online about the infestation of the coati. We initially chalked it up to being in the wild, other guests feeding the animals and generally feeling of being on vacation and rolling with the punches BUT then we went to the sister property - Bahia Principe Grand Coba for lunch. What a world of difference!!! If you are going to spend your money on a Bahia Principe property, go to Coba! No animals in the restaurant, staff were more attentive and service was so much better and overall the vibe of the place was better. BH Tulum has a run-down feeling while BH Coba just has a fresher feel with better service all around.

If you want 5 star service, food, beaches, and pools....LOOK NO FURTHER!! BEST TRIP EVER!!!
****HAD TO ADD MORE AMAZING REVIEW AT THE BOTTOM OF THIS**** WORTH THE READ SO SCROLL ON DOWN :) This resort (and the ENTIRE Bahia Principe chain) is absolutely AMAZING! This is my 7th visit to this resort. I have stayed at Akumal and Coba but Tulum is my FAVE! Carlos and the other staff really go above and beyond. Jose, Alan, Ariel, Hofanso, Eduardo, Alejandro and the other bar staff make every day memorable. This is my favorite resort chain in the world. I can't say enough good things. The food at the buffet and al-la-carts are 5 star! We will be back next year so watch out for the blue-haired Canadian lol. Miss all you guys! Looking forward to new memories soon :) ********NEW AMAZING INFO********* I got back home to Canada and realized how AMAZING so many of the staff were that made this trip PERFECT (was for my wife's birthday, our wedding, and Halloween). Perhaps you are reading this cause you seen some bad reviews (usually American or French). I want to say DO NOT believe there stuff. You just can't please some people! This was so far my best trip ever. Maybe it was because I got married on the beautiful beach, or just the amazing vibe and 5 star food. The buffet is LEGENDARY. It is different each night and there is always something for EVERYONE! I want to take the time to mention some of the people who made our stay EPIC! If i forgot anyone, sorry but you all did 100%. Lobby Family (you are all our familia now): Fernando, Alejandro, Eduardo, Rafael, Marco (Polo, lol), Juan (too many to mention) but these guys went above and beyond! Manuel (Vic): My brother from another mother.....you went above and beyond everyday. I look forward to seeing you soon. Thank you for all you did. Big hugs!! Pool Bar Family: Ariel (you are a STAR), Hofonso (Thank you so much), and the rest of the crew! Lobby Bar: Carlos (LEGEND), Maria, Angel, Karla, Lucerna (you ALL made us feel like family and I cannot thank you enough). Frank at the privilege club went out of his way to make sure we knew all the tips ;) The privilege club is TOTALLY worth it. Talk to Frank and ask for the amazing presentation. You won't regret it. Erik & Diego at the AC tour desk were AMAZING and helped us when we needed a bit of advice. Thanks to you both! Al' A Carts: Luis, Ricardo, Guadalupe, Maiky, Angel (just to name a few), you all made my wife's birthday and our wedding evening extraordinary. I know I am forgetting a lot of you but honestly, the Al a Carts are OFF THE HOOK! Michelin level food!!! Amado & his buddy at the Towel hut & excursion booking know their stuff! P.S: Thanks for the wedding service bro :) They helped me book a couple excursions and after being at this resort 7 times I thought i seen it all....I was WRONG! They helped us book the jungle boogies w/ cenote and monkeys. It was amazing! The tour guides on the excursion were awesome! Get the private picture package! Worth every cent!! Will be doing this one again when we are back in a few months. The second excursion was the luxury catamaran. This was also 5 star! Big shout out to Captain Martin & his crew! Legends!!! Maria (with the private pictures) was so good! Her pics in and out of the water were fantastic! GET THE PICTURE PACKAGE! We seen stingrays, turtles, Nemo (lol) and all other kinds of sea life. It was perfect! Can't speak highly enough of everyone! See you soon mi familia :) Viva Mexico & THANK YOU Bahia Principe for another amazing trip I will remember forever (or until my next one in a few months to you). You will now and forever be our #1 resort for our winter getaways from Canada.

Great staff, but wouldn't go back
Property and rooms were clean. Staff was very good. Unfortunately pools closed at 6pm and that was an issue. No privacy in the bathroom. It was open. People smoking everywhere and nobody said anything. Staff all gave different information. Seems nobody was sure of anything.

Try another spot
This was our 2nd and final trip to this resort. Unfortunately hand foot and mouth is a big problem. First time we stayed it was good. Food was okay, but overall it was satisfactory. 2nd time we stayed our girls got hand foot and mouth disease. The food went down hill big time and the restaurants were always booked, and food was again sub par. Our family went at a different time and they also got hand foot and mouth. Be careful booking here as they obviously don’t clean the pools. Rodents are also an issue that got worse the 2nd time. One climbed up on our table while be were eating. We were tending to our infant…they saw an opportunity and grabbed food off our plate. Hopefully they can change these issues. Staff are pretty good, resort layout is nice, and very nice landscaping and upkeep. Has potential, onto the next one!
