Great job of Refreshing and Renewing the Resort

This review of Bahia Grand Jamaica (BGJ) is based on a trip my wife and I took from 1-FEB-25 thru 11-FEB-25. Also of note, we have stayed at the BGJ on several occasions and are basing our review comments on the resort over time. BGJ has done a great job of refreshing and renewing the resort. Several notable updates include: The main buffet restaurant Nyam, The Round Island Food Market, The Jerk Center, The Knife Restaurant and Updated room décor in parts of the resort. These updates show an effort by BGJ to keep the resort a top destination in the Caribbean. Like for any resort, there are some areas of improvement. 1 - With most BGJ trip reservations you have an opportunity to make dinner reservations at À la carte restaurants. There are a number of excellent restaurants to choose from so make sure to take advantage while there. However, the reservation system for the restaurants is an absolute disaster. You are pointed to (1) Kosk in the lobby or using the Bahia App, but good luck making a reservation. The only way to attempt making a reservation is with the Customer Service agents in the lobby. This process is slow and cumbersome. Bottom line Bahia you have to fix this! 2 – One of the absolute gems, of any resort in the Caribbean, is the BGJ Sunset Bar. Unfortunately, Bahia has failed to recognize this, and the bar has fallen into disrepair and is closed. If I was BGJ I would stop everything I was doing and get the Sunset Bar opened ASAP. Review Summary – My wife and I have been winter vacationing in the Caribbean for almost 15 years. The cost per value proposition with BGJ can’t be beat. The property, restaurants, food, entertainment, beach, accommodations are on par with the best resorts in the Caribbean. Awards – Now for my yearly awards to the staff at BGJ. The two categories are “Lobby Customer Agent” and “Restaurant Server”. Lobby Customer Agent – Treshana N. Restaurant Server - Yanesh

    Disappointed guest

The hotel no doubt is huge and rooms are spacious but bathroom is down in the dumps. Shower heads do not work and despite complaining nothing is done about it. On check in day the lady who served us did not smile at us at all and had an attitude about her. She was being difficult when we requested 2 keys for the room door and did not give us the second key. She made us feel very unwelcome. We experienced same attitude with the staff who served during breakfast. We were made to wait a lot longer for our coffee compared to American guests. This has totally put us off this hotel. We will not recommend this hotel to our friends and family. Staff should not have an attitude and each and every guest should be made to feel welcome especially as the country heavily depends on tourism.

    Stay away from this resort!

If I could have rated it lower,I would. Worst resort EVER.We contacted the resort by phone to arrange a semi private car from airport and paid $96 USD.The semi private bus made 7 stops (first red flag). Our check in with Tracy was a joke, minimum information given,so we had to figure out on our own (with A LOT OF WALKING!!!) towels, booking a la cart, and she was full of attitude. Our room had not a spec of literature to help us find our was around.Every day the cleaning got worse,we had to call every day for more towels and Kleenex. The second last day, didn’t clean toilets,no clean water glasses and I phoned 4 times for Kleenex (never did get it) The 2 a la cart we booked were pathetic, the Japanese was so bad,we had to go to buffet later to get cheese and crackers because we were still hungry (our server was Sophia),she was mediocre at best. Our second a la cart was the Italian restaurant, and it was worse! With reservations waited a long time to be seated, and probably waited 25 minutes before our drink order was taken, and then to be told they were out of beer🤷‍♀️🙄 The appetizers were served family style, but the y didn’t have all the courses available:( The food was not good. The buffet was where we decided to eat after that.Often running out of many different dishes.I could go on… I want to end on a high note, the pool area is very nice, but a VERY LONG WALK TO THE WASHROOMS(and the pool snack bar was disgusting,Best server in resort was Kevoy in the buffet, thank god for him, btw, anther staff member stealing his tips DISPICABLE!!WE WILL NEVER GO BACK AND TELL EVERYONE WE KNOW TO STAY AWAY!!!

    Nightmare in Bahia Principe

On first impressions this is a luxury hotel, it has a very grand lobby, the rooms were pretty big and well furnished also our view over the pools and distance sea view looked very promising. However, we soon discovered that below us around the pool there is very loud music banging or entertainment staff bellowing through maxed out speakers from 11.00am to about 5.00pm and then at night up until midnight there is again loud music issuing from mainly the lobby bar. Don't get me wrong I love reggae but you are bombarded with it everywhere all the time and poor old Bob is shoved down your throat relentlessly. The staff were unfailingly good natured and helpful so no complaints there. Now to my chief gripe the food....utter crap. In the two weeks we were there I only had one hot meal and that was being at the dining room as soon as it opened for breakfast and the food was first put out, go an hour later and everything is luke warm at best and cold at worse. Other meals feature things like rice, cous cous, pasta etc. steer clear, again warm at best. luke warm fried eggs, scrambled, poached any kind of egg the same, scrunch dried up shrivels of bacon, tiny sausages, other meals were similarly just not hot, the list goes on maybe the Americans like it this way the majority of guests were from that country so perhaps that's it. On the other hand the bread, patisserie and cheese were very nice also the soup. My wife was admitted to a local hospital with gastro enteritis and whilst I am making no accusations what so ever, the hotel was the only place at which we ate or drank so draw your own conclusions. Holiday of nightmares never to return.

Don’t think twice about booking here!

Stop reading the awful and mostly unfair reviews of this wonderful resort. This was our 3rd visit to Bahia. The workers are friendly, helpful and fun. The rooms and grounds are clean. Themed restaurants are tough to book but delicious - the buffet is huge with tons of options. If you come with reasonable expectations and a good attitude, you’ll absolutely love this resort!!
