    New Years in Jamaica

Relatively decent vacation. Rooms were spacious, clean and comfortable. Food was good although not all a la carte experiences were top notch but everyone has an off day on occasion. Adults only resort is directly connected to family resort so there was still some cross over from time to time with children entering the adult pool. There is a reason we pay a premium for adults only. The Jamaican people are friendly but they have not mastered the service industry yet. There were many occasions where we sat in a restaurant and no one approached with a menu or drink order. There is no beach on the adults only side, very disappointing. You have to go to the family side to find a short stretch of beach. Would appreciate if the entertainment team didn’t blast guests out of their lounges with the music or constant speaking into the microphone. Not sure why resorts think adults need to be entertained 24/7. Some of us are there to relax, read and socialize with other guests. If we want entertainment, we can book an excursion or make our own fun. But that is my own personal pet peeve. Had to use the services at the front desk a few times and they were professional and courteous. Overall, a good vacation. Jamaica is a lovely country!

    Fantastic Resort!!

A girlfriend and I just returned from a five-day stay. The weather was fantastic. The resort is beautiful and clean they are non-stop making sure that it is spotless. The food was fantastic! Only one night in the Buffet it was just OK but if you couldn’t find something to eat that was your problem. We did the Mikado and the Rodizzio (Brazilian steak house ). The mikado was a lot of fun and the food was amazing I couldn’t eat it all. The Brazilian steakhouse was a little bit different not my favourite and if you’re going to book there make sure you really really like meat. All the staff were super friendly and service was great. Our room was spacious clean great location. The shops had some really cute things. We never felt nervous or unsafe walking around at night. I would highly recommend this resort for a family vacation or couples or friends.

    Sun and Fun!

Just returned from a week at Bahia Principe in Jamaica. We stayed at the adults only section with 3 other couples. Drinks and food was great. Omario was our fantastic waiter at Jasmin (dinner). We were unable to get into the two premium restaurants Dolce Vita and Mikado. We requested reservations three times thru the on site butlers and were told they would get back to us but no follow-up, Disappointing! If you go, make reservations before you get on site. You have a better chance of getting into the premium restaurants.

    Jamaica 2020

First trip to Jamaica and had a fantastic vacation! Stayed at the Bahia from January 29th to February 5th. Upon arrival checkin was quick and received our rooms fast. When booking the trip we booked 2 rooms and requested 2 double beds in each room. Upon walking into the first room we were given what we had asked but the second room was a single King size bed! The King room was not what we had intended and went to the front desk to resolve the issue and switch rooms but we were told there was nothing avaliable until the next morning and they would call our room at 7am to fix the room issue. There was no phone call and we went back to the front desk and was told once again there were no rooms. After 10 minutes of searching for a room there was one room available in block 17 but our other room was in building 23 across the resort so we decided the only option was to keep the room. This was very annoying as we had also emailed the resort weeks prior to arrival with room requests. In the end there was no rooms and we were forced to keep these rooms. That day we went back to the room around noon and the maid was tying up our suitcases to be moved to the room in building 17 after we had told the front desk we are not moving!! The customer service is lacking in this resort at the front desk and there is little to no communication. ROOMS; Air Canada rooms are in block 23 rooms were nice and clean, beds were comfortable, and ac was cold. Our one room was Oceanview and the other was on the opposite side of the hall, which is quite noisy, these rooms are right outside of the Luxury Lobby and you can hear music and people talking quite loud until late each night. POOL AREAS: The pool areas were very nice clean and pool was very nice and large. BEACH: The beaches in-front of the pool areas are quite rocky and it is very hard to swim in these areas as you tend to sink into the sand quite fast and is full of rocks. The furthest beach Grand Side beach was the best section of beach! The beach was nice and sandy with perfect clear and turquoise water! FOOD: the food at the resort was fantastic! the buffet had plenty of options and there was always lots to choose from. It was very tasty as well! We ate at 3 of the a-la-Cartes the Knife which was the best meal of the trip. Secondly we ate at the Asian teppanyaki restaurant and the food was amazing, probably one of the best tasting cooking shows we've had down south! lastly we ate at the Italian restaurant which was okay food was good but they need AC in that restaurant very hot and humid in there at night! All in all food was excellent! STAFF: The staff were amazing Jamaicans are some of the most friendly and caring people! They were the best part of the trip! Aside from the issues at the front desk everyone we encountered were great! Gerrick the grand side beach bartender is the best and our favourite at the resort! We had a fantastic vacation and the island is absolutely gorgeous! This was a very nice resort for the price we paid.

    Good stay

So, I’m rating it a 3/5 - details below. But I don’t mean it in a negative way. If you’re looking for sun, booze and warm beach, then this is an awesome choice. We chose for the price point last minute, and it was a good choice. Buffet Food: 2/5 Ok, so they’re drastically close to Cuba in the food selection. :p but definitely do the omelette for breakfast, and the jerk chicken at lunch. A la carte restaurants: 2/5 Service was terrible at the Japanese, steakhouse, and was slightly better at the knife. Again, we came here not for the food. We ate off resort a number of times and it was WORLDS BETTER. Room: 4/5 Basic. Clean. Bright. Desperate for an upgrade (ie electrical outlets or charging ports by bed), and bathrooms need to be redone - old caulking that’s miscoloured, etc. Don’t bother getting an ocean view. You’ll end up with a view of the pool with the ocean behind it, and the noise of bands every night. Public areas: 2/5 Desssssssperate for an upgrade. Ratty elevators, peeled off signs, Bowing signage, old, dank carpets. But they do an amazing job at keeping everything else freshly painted. Just needs an upgrade. Bars: 4/5 Super basic, nothing fancy, but clean(ish) and just what you need. Location: 2/5 Too far for anything to walk to in the heat pretty much, but the beach is nice. You c an hear traffic from the road right behind the resort. Staff: 3/5 Hit and miss. I was surprised after reading the reviews here, but they really weren’t super pleasant. The push for their “club” is intense and real. Inteeesting for me, their sales pitch to buy in to their vacation club and “take out the middle man” for bookings (their property and all future travel), but they’re actually selling you a portal (like Expedia, trip advisor, booking.com etc), so essentially taking out your choice of middle man and putting themselves in the middle... so not taking out the middle man at all! They were rude when we declined the $15,000 buy in. Oh well. Some of the staff were ok otherwise, but VERY expectant of tips for everything, and after stepping g into a sandals resort for another tour pick up, wow the Bahia staff weren’t half as friendly! We weren’t even sandals guests and their level of service was so amazing!!! So friendly. I digress.... Entertainment: 3/5?! If you like people yelling into microphones and the same Bob Marley cover songs each night, you’ll love it. Not our cup of tea, but I’m sure great for other people. In the end? I’d go back, eat more off resort, but for sun and warm water and big pool, it’s a good choice.
