DONT BOTHER!!!!!!!!!!
This place sucks! Buffet never replaces food. Resort is huge. You have to use shuttles to get around. But they won’t stop if you have the wrong coloured wrist band. Got lost and it took half an hour to find beach! And when you do find the beach—1 bartender-15 min wait!

Decent Hotel - Excellent Staff everywhere!!!!
We stayed at Coba near Tulum for 2 weeks in January. Overall a good holiday (no one got sick) but pros and cons. Pros - no issues getting chairs at the pool (we never got up early and saved seats), place is clean, rooms are clean, lots of refill water stations, restocked bar in the room everyday, day entertainment staff were Excellent (Antonio did a great job at keeping us entertained), always on time for activities, nightly entertainment (especially live music) was great. Ala carte restaurants were good. The servers at the buffet and in the lobby were outstanding! Honestly excellent service, they always had a smile on their face and were appreciative of the tips. Free wifi was good enough for us. I wished I would have noted their names especially the ladies that served us in the lobby in the evenings. Luis at Guest services was very accommodating for us as well. Cons - no quiet pool available, no adult pool available, not alot of variation on the buffet, limited ala cartes and it was challenging using the app to book (we didn't get into all the restaurants as you can prebook reservations 10 days out from your trip but the app wouldn't let us prebook as we had a vacation package), didn't enjoy using the shuttles to get to and from the beach, bar at beach lined up, only 2 pickleball courts available for 5 resorts. Not enough courts and no way to reserve aside from taking the shuttle, showing up and hoping for the best. (5 tennis courts which we ended up using when pickleball courts not available). Overall our stay was good and good value for the money, however, if I were to return we probably wouldn't stay here as we enjoy being near the beach and do adults only as there were LOTS of families. As a couple I would stay at Tequila (Adults only) or Akumal (which is on the beach and gives you more ala carte choices) I would recommend for families travelling with kids.

Do Not Stay at the Coba, service and food Suck , food is cold dog food.
We Started going to the Bahia Principe Grand Coba 15 years ago, with a couple stays at the Tulum hotel. We have always been very happy until this trip. If you are thinking of staying here do not ! This hotel is rated as a 5 star resort, It is not! After Flying from Victoria Canada at 8am and arriving at the resort at 8pm at night, A Lets start with the check in, we pre-checked in on their App. so Check in would be fast. There is a line up specifically for this kind of check in, however no one was working this line. We stood in Line waiting for a person at the counter for over 45 minutes close to an hour. Once checked in we went to our room , I had requested a Queen bed or a King, but instead we received a room with 2 double beds pushed together. If you have ever tried sleeping in this it does not work. Over the 1st 3 days our safe had issues , my wife also found mold in parts of the room The next morning we went to the Buffet to have breakfast , only to find over half of the buffet with decorations where food once was. The majority of the food was cold. My favorite station there for breakfast has always been the egg station, they used to have 2 stations, that has now been reduced to 1. At the egg station you can get fried Eggs or Omelets. Both are nice and hot, just don't get any other food before you get your Omelet or it will be cold after standing in line for 15 min to get one. The Service Staff in all of the Buffet at this resort complex has always been good. That has changed. After getting my breakfast a hot cup of coffee would have been nice, but it was Luke warm. Getting a second cup of coffee i had to finally ask. The staff was more interested in chatting and folding cloth napkins for the dinner service. After Breakfast my wife and I decided to upgrade our hotel Bracelet for the other resorts. I knew this coming in that they were approx. $30 US per person per Day. We decided that we needed it just till the day before we left. We were told they did not charge for the last day, as as our 1st day we arrived at 8pm this should have left 5 days. They still charged for 6 days. After getting upgrades done, eating and using Tulum and Akum was where we went. On our 1st full Day we went to the Mikado Ala Carte, we have been many times before so we did not book at grill side table, and thought the food would be just as good. This was not the case our waiter brought us water, took our order, after he delivered a course he would disappear. We had to ask another waiter to bring us water several times. The food , It was Cold. Really not impressed. Lets talk about food at the snack bar, or should I say Dog food. Ice cold, I have seen homeless shelters service better food. I can Tell you I heard this a lot. The good, we ate lots at the Akumal Buffet, it was excellent, and the service was excellent. The best Buffet food and service was at Katok beside the infinity pool at the adult section of the Akumal resort. It was open for Breakfast and Lunch and turns into the Steak house Ala Carte in the Evening and it is top notch. Food is hot so is the Coffee and the service is excellent. The other 2 Ala carts we went to were the Smoked, excellent smoked meats and The Grand Tortuga which is a Brazilian steak house . Food at the Tortuga is always hot and fresh. The Really Bad- the noise. There is a new Adult resort which used to be part of the Coba, it is now called the Tequila. The entire area and rooms have been redone, I wish I had paid the extra and stayed there. The Really Bad is the noise that comes from the Tequila sound system, it is Very loud, the Bass can be Heard All over Coba. Trying to Sleep before 11pm Good luck. They just need to turn the Bass down. They have a huge outdoor DJ Set up as well the the snack bar on some evenings is the place to be with another huge sound system. If you have a family Go stay at the Tulum hotel as they have a huge Kids area, lots of pools and beach front. Just spend the extra money and don't stay at the Coba. After 15 years of traveling there I will not stay at the Coba ever again, and for our next Trip we are looking to go to another resort chain completely. Hotel ratings Coba 2.5 stars, cold food, old rooms , crappy snack bar and tiny beach with no food. Tulum 3.5 to 4 stars depending on if your room has been renovated Akumal 4.5 Very nice place but not a 5 star. I did not see the rooms at the Tequila but from what i was told it is a true 5 star with brand new California Kind sized beds

Question on coba
Any one coming back from bahia principe grand Coba? We are going in 10 days and we want to know if it is possible to buy the Wristband to get access to the Tulum and Akumal facilites. I went 2 years ago and I bought the pass. It seems this is no longer possible. Please confirm as we would have never booked there otherwise
