The worst expérience i ve ever had at 6 star hôtel

The worst experience I've ever had at a 5-star hotel. I won’t list all the negative points because there are simply too many, but I want to highlight two serious issues that should never occur in any hotel, regardless of its star rating. 1. Safety: The hotel is poorly maintained, creating real safety hazards for guests. The roof of a pergola in the children’s pool area collapsed. Electrical cables were dangerously exposed and loosely installed on structures. a fire broke out in one of the loggias. We witnessed workers rushing out with what appeared to be flammable containers—truly alarming. 2. Respect for guests, commitments, and contractual agreements: We were informed very late about major renovation work on the site. Prior to our stay, we had explicitly asked in writing whether there would be any noise disturbances, explaining that we were traveling with a 3-year-old child who naps in the afternoon. We were told there would be no issue, and that we would be accommodated far from the construction zone, just like all other guests. Unfortunately, this promise was not kept. We were placed in Villa 5, only 20 meters from the construction site. There were jackhammers, heavy machinery—constant noise. It took two days before we were moved to another room, but by then, the damage was done. Our vacation was already ruined. In our country, this would simply be called a lie. This is the first time I’ve ever left a negative review for a 5-star hotel, but it is absolutely justified in this case. The hotel made minimal, if any, efforts to ensure our comfort and safety.

    Bahia principe Coba, brilliant!

Still here at the Bahia Principe Coba after the lobby/restaurant fire on Wednesday afternoon. I would just like to say the Coba have done all they can to make our stay the best they can and I can personally say they have gone above and beyond to help us out. The staff here at the Coba and the on site Tui staff have all worked so hard to keep us up to date with everything. We have been able to use all the facilities at the sister hotels. They have a good system going on with the trolley bus, so no one is queuing for long. The Coba staff are helping in the other restaurants, so there is no waiting there either. It really hasn't been much hassle at all. It was just the lobby area, and the buffet restaurant, so nothing that hasn't been able to be set up or catered for elsewhere. Big shout out to all the staff and Tui reps, and also to the construction workers who are working round the clock to get everything back to normal in minimal time. We are still having a great time, and wouldn't hesitate to recommend coming here.

Coba is a Lovely and Very Clean Resort

Bahia Principe Grand Coba was a lovely resort. What stood out most was the cleanliness and lush green grounds. It was very pretty. Room was very large and very clean with all the amenities - makeup mirror, etc. Water pressure great and hot. We were in Building 27. GREAT location. Beach 5-6 min walk in one direction and lobby and buffet a 5 min walk in the other direction. Food was good. LOVED the freshly made doughnuts every morning and the 24 hr snack bar by the activity pool Also loved that they had a "quiet" pool and hot tubs. Everything was nearby and easy walking but they also had trolleys to take guests around. Beach chairs were always available. Water was a lovely temperature and color. Had some rocks in the water so I advise water shoes. There is a bar there but no food. Have to haul it back to the lobby to eat. Only things I didn't like were no restaurant at the beach and that I was asked to get out of the pool by the beach because it belongs to the Akumal. I knew we couldn't eat or drink there but I thought the pool was OK. Apparently not. Also, the theatre had a problem with birds flying overhead while we were watching the show and dropping their feces on us. Constant plop sounds and my friend had a large brown spot on her light blue dress. They really need to do something about that. That's a hygiene issue. You can avoid that though by sitting in the upper section of the theatre. Shows were good. I would recommend this resort to anyone.

    Bahia Principe Coba fire, shut.

Fire aftermath photo. Bahia Principe Coba lobby, sports bar, main buffet, Mikado and Le Gourmet restaurants have all burnt down on 14th May 2025. Many theories for where it started, but staff are keeping quiet. Relocated many guests into other resorts. This is a photo of the steps from front entance drop off towards the lobby, the roof has gone.
