The check in was very smooth. Being able to sit in a cool room with refreshments was a welcome treat after the long journey. It was our wedding anniversary and 2 birthdays whilst we were there. Our room was decorated and we were left a bottle of sparkling wine and cake. Room was cleaned to a good standard everyday. However our room wasn’t cleaned until about 4.30pm on most days. This often meant we would meet the cleaner in the room once returning from the pool. We would then have to go or wait on balcony. Mini bar was stocked daily with water, pop, beer and crisps. We spent most days at the pool. You have to get up early to get a preferred spot. We would use the loungers all day as we would be in and out of the water. However some guests would reserve sun beds and not return for hours/even going on excursions. The towel monitors remove any items and towels that are laid out before 7am if you are not sat with them. We managed to get reservations for all restaurants and ate at spoons/bbq/pizza all other times. Men are not allowed to wear vests into the restaurants and are sent away. However women can wear very revealing swimwear/booty shorts etc. This in my opinion is more off putting than a man wearing a vest. My 11 year old son even questioned the staff at one of the restaurants. She just pointed at the sign on the desk. Room service was quick and useful for a light snack. Also afternoon tea in the lobby was nice, my youngest son particularly enjoyed this. The hotel and grounds are very clean. This is probably helped by no food being eaten or served outside of designated places. However I did see on a few occasions plates of food being eaten round pools. There is a lot of marble which can be quite slippy. I slipped in the shower once. Also in reception it is almost like a skateboard park with marble ramps. This made me nervous for the kids running over them. The seaweed smell was very bad to start with. However it pretty much disappeared after a couple of days. Then occasionally you would catch a whiff. The staff on the beach are working tirelessly and non stop to remove the seaweed. It didn’t stop us eating lunch at the beach bbq almost everyday. My son went into the sea several times. He hired a kayak for $4. He could then use it anytime during the stay, which was really good value for money. We didn’t notice the building work at all. We did see the builders when we were sitting on the roof garden but wouldn’t have noticed them otherwise. The evening entertainment in the lobby was sometimes a little amateurish. We didn’t watch many of the shows on the roof terrace as it was just so humid. The entertainment team were good at getting everyone playing water polo/volleyball. The kids used the teen room to play pool, table hockey etc and made friends with other guests. I felt comfortable with the kids going round the resort independently. The beach bbq party on Thursday nights was a good. However not too easy to manoeuvre round tables on sand to get food. The biggest asset to this hotel were the staff. All staff were super friendly to us and everyone said ola as they passed us. Rosalia at the pool worked tirelessly delivering drinks. She was so accommodating and friendly. Luis & Alex at the beach bbq were fantastic, so friendly and provided a great service. Jamie & David on the bbq grill knew exactly what we wanted and the whole fish we had was delicious. The bar staff at the swim up bar knew my hubby’s drink and how to make it perfectly. I would have liked to see another space to relax in the evenings, maybe a sports bar/lounge.
Fantastic dream holiday
Just returned from our 4th consecutive visit to SENSATORI - riviera maya , Cancun . The place is gorgeous and the staff really go that extra mile Pool butlers - Blanka, Lucia , David and Fernando are amazing , attentive and friendly . Alejandro , urial are brilliant too as well as Miguel , Rolando and Roberto . Spoons restraunt- Santiago and Emmaunuel fabulous

We spent 14 nights here for our honeymoon. We were not disappointed, here is our review of what we would have liked to know about before we went. Seaweed: There is lots of it, and it won’t stop. The staff try their best to make the beach presentable but this is not a destination if you want to swim in the sea. Its the only downside to the hotel for me. The smell can be quite bad if the wind is in your direction but other than that it’s not too bad. Construction: Although we could see if happening we couldn’t hear it. If you stay near the kids section you will undoubtedly hear it. Beach towels: Get to the pool for 06:30 to put your towels on the sun lounger or you will struggle to get a spot. The warnings are there that if you leave your towel and are not there at 7am security will remove your belongings and take them to lost and found, which they did. However if you wait until 7:15 then you are all clear. It’s not a great system. Entertainment: Neon beach party was great fun the events they have on at the roof Terrance are fun as well but it’s outside and can be very humid. Other things like archery / tennis to do. Hotel - The lobby and bar areas are well decorated and presented. The reception staff were very helpful and I do not think I have stayed in a cleaner hotel. Tui staff - Always smiling and willing to help. There whenever we needed them. Hayley was our main contact who presented herself well and I noticed Callum handle a heated situation with professionalism. They are great to have in the hotel and give you the peace of mind that you need when in another country. Rooms - 3.5 star, they are not decorated to the level of the main part of the hotel or lobby areas. Cleaned and turned down everyday without fuss. Although my partners watch did go missing so ensure all valuables go in the safe. Staff - The staff were amazing and the hotel should be proud. Always busy helpful and happy. Particularly the bar staff - Jose luis and luis in the Mojito bar and Zavala in the pool bar. Everyone was friendly and welcoming and we often saw a smile. It was good to see the staff being friendly to everyone they saw and even to watch them have a laugh and a joke together through their shift was nice to see as they always seem to be on long shifts together. Bars & Restaurants Booking - You have to book your restaurant (except spoons which is walk-in) before 3 pm that evening or you will struggle. You can book 2 days in advance which is good. Adults swim up bar: Good fun and the staff were great including Zavala or Zab as we called him. Beach front swim up bar: Again great location but can get busy. Alejandro was our barman for our time here and he struggled with the amount of people. He would go to you if you shout the loudest and a smile doesn’t hurt. We found it easier to get out of the pool and go to the main bar next to the Caribbean restaurant. Mojito bar: Great for Pre-drinks and has a DJ on from 11 till 1. Great fun and the staff make it. Drop them a tip - it goes a long way! Tapaz: Great food and the staff were excellent and friendly Mexican: Amazing food and hard working staff went quite a few times. Italian: Great food and good staff - it can get warm in there however. They have a nice outside drinking while you are waiting which is really nice. Spoons: Typical buffet style hotel restaurant, again the staff were great and helpful. Food was good and as much of it as you can handle. Caribbean: Nice food and the staff were superb. We only went the once as found the other restaurants had better menus. Although they do great burgers at dinner time. And don’t forget breakfast. If you don’t want the madness of spoons and want a nicer breakfast then the Caribbean is one to go to. BBQ on the beach: This was our main lunch destination great staff and help yourself style Buffett. The smell from the seaweed can sometimes be bad but not of putting. The burgers were amazing and the Chorizo sausage was amazing! Le chique: We did the trial menu through the hotel. The food was hit and miss some of it was superb and some odd. I am glad I didn’t pay the $100 for the full menu. The wine was not on the all-inclusive and very expensive but we were glad that we experienced it. Americans - You can hear them a mile away, loud and have the “if I shout louder I will get a drink first” mentality. We often often moved to other pools to be away from them for a more relaxing time. Tipping - it’s not mandatory by any means but when you realise how much they get paid its worth the extra few $ for the extra service they give you.
Not a 5* resort
After using TUI annually for our holidays for the past few years, usually a holiday village resort we decided to try “SENSATORI” thinking it would be all we receive from a holiday village plus some luxury. We paid substantially more than holidays previous expecting a holiday to remember but have received nothing more than average. The only thing that makes this hotel sensatori is the scent pumped through the lobby. Pros: Hotels is clean and rooms cleaned daily to a high standard Staff are very friendly even those than can’t speak English will always say “Ola!” Bookable restaurants were freely available and food was to a good standard TUI reps made the arrival more personal by showing you to your room The Thursday night beach night was good experience, traditional Mexican evening on the beach with entertainment while eating your meal. Cons: kids club was poor, staff didn’t seem happy to be there and facility was poor with little for kids to do. The activities were never those advertised on the app. We attended an “hour long family activity” which was meant to be an ice cream party, which when we arrived had been changed to blowing bubbles, which lasted 10 minutes. Holiday village kids club was always a really high standard so expected this from all TUI hotels and this one really didn’t come close. Evening entertainment, especially for kids was non existent, the little that was put on, claimed to be “visiting artists” as advised by our TUI rep, but was poor/extremely armature, had better from caravan parks. 3/14 nights had suitable entertainment for children. Seaweed/beach was unusable due to smell and little amount of sand that wasn’t covered. Day time activities for children other than kids club don’t really exist. We booked an excursion through the TUI reps to one of the X parks, and advised as a perk for booking through tui we would receive 50% off “extra” payable activities such as dolphin experience, when we arrived the only activities you received 50% off for were sting rays and zip bikes which both our children were too small for. A wedding was on outside our room in the family block (2 family blocks 2 adult only blocks) and went on loudly till the early hours of the morning. We were charged £160 for a beach view room(due to availability) with no view of beach. Children’s splash park is next to a building site, no lifeguard or staff around, old loungers in this area Curry night we arrived there was no rice left, and none being cooked, the Curries that were being finished were being replaced by plain chicken, or plain beef. The puddings on offer never changed. Very repetitive food choices. Children’s section only comprised of 4 options. Usually chicken nuggets, tomato pasta, chips and quesadillas. The fire alarm went off through the night (1am) and the hotel just removed the battery. Our door stopped working and key card battery had to be replaced All in all I’ve been really disappointment for what I expected to be a luxurious family holiday spending thousands over our usual holiday amount and received nothing more than average. Would like to know what TUI say makes this hotel “sensatori”. Would not return or recommend.
