Aston Kaanapali Shores offers two pools - one near the ocean, the other nestled in our garden (ideal for kids). You can also take advantage of our many other amenities, including lighted tennis and shuffleboard courts, a fitness and massage center, jet spas, complimentary scuba lessons, and a wedding gazebo. Just the mention of Kaanapali conjures up images of tropical sunsets, year-round ocean recreation, and humpback whales spouting offshore from November to April. It's no wonder that the area was once reserved as a playground for Hawaiian royalty. Just north, snorkelers and scuba divers can swim amid colorful fish in pristine marine sanctuaries. And five minutes south is Lahaina; the former whaling port buzzes with its Friday night art walk, galleries, and trendy restaurants.

The only reason this gets 4 starts is the lack of its own beach. It has a small area you can get into the ocean from for snorkeling or swimming but little to no room for towels for laying out. However, the property itself was beautiful, the rooms clean, large, big kitchen with a large grocery store across the street to stock up. It had two pools, one more kid friendly, a large yard for games like bag-o,etc. There were water filling stations, easy towel exchange, a good restaurant on the property. Beach access to all other beaches and restaurants were easy via the beach walk nearby. The concierge was very helpful with excursions and there was plenty of parking. There were hours for the pool so it was not too loud too early or too late.
Excellent value for the money. Very kid friendly. Even though it was big hotel, the rooms were quiet. With a Aloha suite we had an uninterrupted 270 degree view of Molokai, ocean and mountain. Staff were very helpful. We were with five grand kids (11 to 14) who loved the pool and beach. We cooked a lot and the kitchen was well supplied with amenities. Cannot coment on food quality.
When I booked my vacation package with Costco travel, I was aware that the hotel was going to be a little out dated And the beach was not going to be as nice as Kaanapali beach. I booked this hotel because Costco travel gave me a really great deal for a two bedroom condo. This is a nice hotel if you are in a budget and do not need the glitz or the glamour. I really enjoyed having a full kitchen and having my own personal space and then nice balcony. The coffee maker that was in my condo was terrible and I ended up buying espressos and lattes on there on site. I was truly disappointed with the current status of beach. The beach is a very rocky and my daughter cut her toe pretty bad On her first day of our vacation. One quick vacation to that may save you some money, is once you arrive from the airport stop by the Walmart grocery store instead of Costco. I found out that Walmart had better prices than Costco on certain food items. If you’re only vacationing for one week, there’s no need to buy in bulk. Walmarts prices were 15% less than Costco, Milk, eggs, orange juice, and certain vegetables for $1.50 less than Costco.
Great place to stay!
We stayed here for the first time and really enjoyed ourselves. The pools were great. The location was great for the activities we had planned. The beach was great. It wasn’t too big of a resort that you couldn’t find things or found yourself getting lost. My biggest tip is to make sure you hit the food trucks just outside the fence. We walked over three nights out of our seven and we had a great food all three times. Long story short, I would happily come back to visit!
The sand beach is back!
Hooray! The beautiful beach has returned better than ever. It’s s great place for family vacations now made all the better thanks to direct ocean access over a once again welcoming beach. You can ignore those outdated reviews knocking the lack of a beach.
