    Beautiful and convenient location in West Maui.

    Resort complex has multiple one and two bedroom units in 4-storey buildings. Two large swimming pools and on the waterfront. Parking seems plentiful and resort is easily accessible to the highway to the rest of the island. Stores and groceries are very near. There are no restaurant or bars on the property but surrounded by resorts with such facilities.

    Astom Papakea Resort

    Beautiful views of Lanai and Kahoolawe right off you Lanai. Quiet, Relaxing. *if you have a kitchen in your unit. watch out for cockroaches. Other than that we enjoyed our stay. Hugs Wes n Wanda Anzai

    Grounds well maintained and view fantastic. Unit was outdated and needed upgrades. Staff wonderful. Property is in a location were shops, grocery store, restaurants and beaches are near by. Also this resort has a concierge desk.

    Papakea F109, Overpriced. Very Underwhelming

    PAPAKEA RESORT CONDO F109 Check in was chaotic, the “foyer” looked like a backyard shed, disorganised, mess everywhere, they could not have created a less “resort-style” atmosphere if they tried. After a fair walk from available car parking facilities I found the condo, and the view was spectacular as promised. What wasn’t spectacular or exciting was the amount of people directly outside this condo on the grass-front strip, (3metres/ 10 feet away) or the constant foot traffic passing by the described “lanai” (I would call it a tiny, tiled verandah with cheap removable furniture) From there my disappointment continued. The entire condo was very, very hot so I was very relieved to finally find the aircon remote. I turned it on and the noise level was quite unacceptable. (See pic). I couldn’t hold a normal conversation, and adding to this was an open louvred window directly above it which I could not close. The fly screen over that window was falling off, adding to the concerns I had regarding noise, bugs, and overall security. The bedroom was stiflingly hot and it took over two hours of running the aircon (and enduring the noise) to cool it down just a little. Close the door for privacy from the front and a comfy bedroom temperature is out of the question. From there the disappointment continued. The main TV would only show Netflix and it was impossible to work out how to receive normal TV channels. Engineering was eventually able to show me the somewhat complicated procedure (after a call to the owner directly). My overall and base concern which was definitely never addressed in the listing was safety and security. Had I not addressed these issues with the owner directly -*open window -*complete lack of privacy -*random people pulling furniture from lanai and other properties close by and camping out with kids/friends/ personal trainers just feet from your door -*broken fly screen I definitely do not feel safe in this unit. The view is wonderful, yes, however there is no guarantee who is walking past or looking into your living room at any time. I have never had that concern with other places I have stayed in Maui. Other things which really let this unit down -for the price and comparable properties-are: *dirty, old, worn, stained carpet in the bedroom (the owner stated that the condo had just recently undergone a complete and costly renovation) *stained, old window covering in the living area, (see pic) and as a side-note, sheer curtains in that space would improve the privacy in that unit immensely *half a scoop of old coffee left in the cupboard (all other VRBOs or Airbnb’s in this price range provide the basics for at least a one night stay) *no ice in the freezer, no dustpan and brush, no tissues, (again, at least the basics for the first night) *there wasn’t a “House Book” ie basic info for guests on how to use appliances, where to find local supermarkets etc. The owners have relied way too much on this so-called “Resort” or Expedia to convey information to guests. *a security chain but no latch! (See pic) *Melamine plates and bowls ... really?? I spoke to the owner directly on the evening I checked in and discussed my concerns and disappointment. Whilst she was sympathetic she also responded by saying that the condo had just undergone a complete and “high-end” renovation and that no one else had ever mentioned anything. I can certainly appreciate her take on this however at this price - $AUD433.00 per night - this is definitely not a good choice. The listing does not represent what Maui has to offer, the only saving grace is the view. I would highly recommend Kapalua Golf Villas as a much better alternative. It’s a little farther from town but just a world away from here. I wish I had spent $2600 there instead. This is not a resort, it’s a bunch of dated, old, overpriced condos with no nice restaurants or dining options close by. Choose elsewhere.

    Condo in Paradise

    This condo was absolutely perfect. Renovated, well maintained with breath taking views.The condo is on the water and in the only building on the property that still has a beach to swim in. Great location too, across the street from a grocery store on the north side of Ka'anapali.
