Beautiful Hotel, with a Caveat
The Aruba Marriott Resort & Stellaris Casino is a beautiful hotel, probably the nicest on Palm beach. Clean, comfortable, great pool and beach areas and a Casino that actually lets you win now and then, and the staff is extremely friendly (as is pretty much everyone on Aruba). Bars and restaurants were first class and served well prepared meals and drinks. Nice shopping and dining areas just down the street within walking distance. Unfortunately, when you pay resort prices you expect to be able to find a lounge chair by the pool or a Palapa on the beach. At this resort it was very frustrating and complicated. You can never just go out and get one, you need to battle the other guests to race down to the pool at about 7-8AM to lay claim to chairs, and if you think you're gonna get a palapa....ha!...think again. The staff tells you to 'go on the website to reserve one', or 'come back about 1-2pm and there should be some'...no way. Within seconds of 4pm (when you can reserve for next day), or 7am (when you can reserve for today) they're gone. The website is clunky which makes it even harder to deal with. Just ridiculous! We lucked out an were able to get a palapa near the back for only one day but had to pay $30. Even when you get a palapa they're so close together that you need to contort the chairs so you're not hitting your neighbor...and you're stuck listening to their conversations, computers, phones, etc. So, great resort, lots of fun, classy, but if you're looking for a relaxing low-stress, quiet week by the pool or beach I would be hesitant to recommend this resort. Marriott needs to address the chair and palapa issues and make it easier for its guests. The way it works now is just unacceptable. Hence the 4-Star rating.
Nice Hotel, Status Means Nothing
The hotel was a clean hotel with ample amentities. I enjoyed the service and the other consumers. I had to giggle because I am a gold level Bonvoy member and the staff kept thanking me for my service. However, it didn't get me a better table, room or palapa. If you go, know you are going to a nice hotel but expect no special benefits.
Tradewinds is the way to go!
Just returned from a 1 week stay on the Tradewinds floor. Well worth the upgrade. Room and view were fantastic. Everyone on the property was friendly and went out of their way to greet you. Food and drink in the Tradewinds lounge was delicious. Always plenty to choose from. With the Tradewinds upgrade you are entitled to a private beach area with floats available. Palapas were nice. A bit close together. Would have been better if they did not have general public palapas on the Tradewind side. Best part of the Tradewinds beach was having Hermina there to serve you. She greated you with an infectious smile and laugh everyday. Several times during the day she would bring you iced, aroma infused washcloths to put on the back of your neck. She never let you go thirsty always bringing around bottles of ice cold water. She made each day on the beach a refreshing, happy spot! Can't say enough good things about her. We even took her picture to remind of us of how friendly she was daily. Sure missed her days off.
Marriott is always GR-8!
Clean! Has Morton's restaurant right on property! Happy hours everyday! Swim-up bar. On the beach! Shuttle to take u into town and back. $2.00. Very enjoyable time! Would definitely recommend! We will stay there again next year.
Aruba Marriott Stellaris
We were there for 5 nights staying on the Tradewinds floor. Room was very nice, it had a balcony and small fridge. Bathroom was a good size for 2 people to get ready. We were visiting with another couple and they stayed in the Governor’s Suite. Huge room with 2 bathrooms and a wrap around balcony on the oceanfront. Tradewinds lounge is new and very nice. Food was excellent and they lets us take a cooler out to the beach each morning! Tradewinds is with the extra cost!!
