first family vacation
My family and I had a 4 day vacation to this resort. The resort is beautiful, our room was great, and staff was amazing. The hotels in house photographer did our family photos. All of the photos were beautiful and the photographer worked well with our 1 yr old. Louis Lechuga our concierge provided excellent service. He was always available, made sure we were comfortable, set up our transportation, and he is always smiling. Louis took care of us as if we were family.
Great hotel with wonderful beach and great location
We stayed here for 8 nights and enjoyed every bit of it. Great location and amazing beach. Food was good and there was plenty to choose from, something for everyone. We had a nice room with a lot of space but unfortunately we could not get 3 chairs for the balcony (only two, even if we where a family of 3). A lot of wild animals visited the hotel gardens every day and this was very nice. Staff was friendly in the restaurants but in front desk they where not so helpful and charming. They had a compliated system to queue and to pay for day trips and such, had to stay in different queues for different trips and also a very long queue to book a la carte restaurant. If a fem minutes to late there was no possibility to get to a certain restaurant on a certain day and then you had to try to book the day after again. We only managed to get to the a la carte restaurant once on all of our 8 days of stay. A 15 minutes walk into 5th Avenue and all shopping or 3 min by cab. Over and all i would recommend this stay and if we ever go to Playa del Carmen again I would probably choose this place.
#4 trip - always amazing
We just got back from our fourth time at Allegro. We loved it once again! We had a great time with staff, the food is good, - just a great place to relax and very close (walking distance) to Playa de Carmen or some shopping at Centro Maya. It's worth visiting the small cenotes such as Azul. Only negative point- make sure you ask for non-communicating rooms - we hear EVERYTHING and smell everything going on in the other side of the doors. Not pleasant if you don't know your neighbors - we will make sure to stipulate that next time!
Great place to unplug and unwind at a great value
My wife and I recently stayed here for 5 nights for our vacation and had a great visit. The rooms were clean with great A/C and mini fridge with drinks for the day. We thought the food was very good at both the buffet and the a la carte restaurants. Every staff member that we interacted with was very kind and accommodating. There were a lot of activities going on by the pool during the day that you could participate in or simply people watch. We thought the evening entertainment was excellent, we especially had a lot of fun at the silent disco. The resort is only about a mile walk down from the pier to ferry over to Cozumel, where there is also plenty of shops and restaurants around. Overall we had a very enjoyable and relaxing stay.
First time in Mexico and it was great. I'll start with the pros. 1. Very clean hotel. My room was spotless every day without fail, so was the bathroom and toilet. My bed was freshly made every day. I had clean towels every day too. 2. The grounds are kept clean and tidy at all times and the staff are very friendly. Cons 1. Wi-fi is not free. You have to pay for it. 5 days costs $45 and you need to top up as you go. This was disappointing as I had paid good money to be here. 2. Food. When the hotel cooked Mexican and Mayan food, it was great. But when they attempted to cook dishes from other cultures it was a bit of a disaster as the variety was broad but execution bland. 3. Eco Tax. I paid 300 pesos for the Eco Tax and the beach was clean and free of dirt but the seaweed was stacked up high and would smell in the heat. I would come back to Mexico, just not this hotel.
