awesome first club experience with Jessica and Allan. restaurant and bar staff very attentive. Be sure to get to the Italian restaurant, Asian, and Mexican dinners. Wait staff in restaurant were phenomenal. Very friendly and hard working. front desk also awesome
Had a nice time, might come back, might not. That is the overall message for this vacation..A lot of good things like local of resort to other attractions, easy access from Cancun, nice beach..To ok stuff like decent food, watered down alcohol, warm pools..Room was a little run down, air conditioning didn’t work, sink had brown stuff flowing out at one point, and toilet handle broke..So good vacation overall but no WoW factor..
Hope to return
We’ve stayed at the Allegro several times and keep coming back because it’s a perfect fit for us. It’s a relatively small, informal all-inclusive, meaning the buffet lunch is served poolside (pareos are fine) and you don’t need to dress up for the buffet dinner and can choose a space with or without air conditioning. The beach is beautiful and there are plenty of chairs, and there are also two pools.
10 days at Allegro Playacar
First of all, we are 1st club members with timeshare ownership with no regrets. We were met by Juan in the lobby and quickly escorted to the first club check in. We had several encounters with Juan over the several days and he is truly a pleasure to talk to and an excellent source of information. The wait staff of Erika and Alejandro were fabulous. Pool waiters were fantastic as well. We tipped generously because these 4 worked extremely hard. Our drinks were never empty. The food was great with plenty of variety. People that complain about the food are probably very picky! The couple of issues that we had, air conditioner didn't work and shuttle was not there to pick us up at the airport (not a hotel problem but was handled through the hotel to help with the refund) were taken care of rapidly by the first club. The beach is beautiful despite a seaweed epidemic. Our friends were also impressed enough to accompany us to another Allegro in Cozumel next year. I would recommend this hotel to all travelers including young families.
On to the next resort
We personally would not rebook at this resort again. The service was great and staff very friendly, however, the room was not accommodating. We had 2 full beds, 3 people, 3 suitcases with no place to store our belongings, no desk, dressers or drawers. The closet was small with a few shelves and all of 8 hangers & 1 suitcase stand. The bathroom sink is in the sleeping area with very little counter space and the bathroom itself was quite small with only 1 hook. Breakfast and lunch at the buffet were good with a variety to select from, however, Dinner was not great and to make reservations for the restaurants was a daily hassle you had to deal with daily, face to face from 9-4. We were also turned off by being solicited to purchase vacation packages as we had just arrived after traveling all morning. We had a great time with friends and love the Playacar strip (despite the unfortunate seaweed situation they were having) but would definitely venture to a different resort next time.
