There are many reasons why the Bahamas are so popular as a vacation destination: the climate is comfortable year-round, the beaches are stunning, the flight from the East Coast of the U.S. is quick, and there are always plenty of things to do on the various islands. Whenever you decide to visit, you’ll have a memorable experience.

When Should I Visit the Bahamas?

So, when is the best time to visit the Bahamas? It depends on what kind of escape you’re looking for. High season runs from December to mid-April, shoulder season from late April to July, and low season from August to November1.

Spring

April is one of the best times to visit the Bahamas, especially for travelers looking to enjoy beautiful weather and meaningful moments without the peak-season crowds.

Don’t miss the Family Island Regatta in George Town, where boats race along the water while fans celebrate on the shore. In mid-to late-April, you can snorkel the reefs in the morning, attend a spring festival in town, and secure a prime table at your new favorite restaurant with ease2.

Summer

The Bahamas’ rainy or “wet” season begins in May and can run through the end of November3—but the season still offers plenty of sunshine, so it’s perfect for poolside relaxation, beach walks, and spontaneous adventures.

Temperatures often reach from 85°F to 90°F. Rain typically occurs in short, intense tropical showers in the late afternoon, leaving the majority of the day sunny4. The Carnival festival, which takes place over the Whit Monday holiday weekend (typically in May or June), is a popular event and can get crowded as well1.

Fall

The Atlantic hurricane season runs from June 1 to November 303, with the worst storms likely in August, September, or October1. But the showers are often brief, making this a good time to try a range of outdoor activities such as golf, tennis, or pickleball5.

Winter

Peak season starts again in December, and Nassau is a sight to see over the holidays! Junkanoo, a major cultural festival, includes street parades on Boxing Day (December 26) and New Year’s Day5.

Where to Stay in the Bahamas

Whether you’re planning a romantic escape or a fun-filled family getaway, the Bahamas offers a range of resorts designed to bring everyone together.

Couples

The all-inclusive Warwick Paradise Island Bahamas, is an adults-only resort geared to help couples relax and indulge. It has four restaurants, bars in the lobby and by the pool, a spa, tennis courts, and basketball courts. The resort hosts entertainment and activities every day.

Guests at the Grand Hyatt Baha Mar have access to 3,000 square feet of Cable Beach, 3 restaurants, 6 swimming pools, the Beach Sanctuary (where visitors can see local species of fish, birds, and more), a casino, and the Bond Nightclub, founded by Lenny Kravitz. All 1,800 guest rooms have either a step-out balcony or a full balcony—talk about a nice touch.

Families

The all-inclusive Breezes Bahamas covers a 1,000-foot stretch of Cable Beach and is just 5 miles from both the Nassau International Airport and the downtown shopping area. The resort welcomes couples, singles, groups of friends, and families with children 14 years and older.
