The Hawaiian Canoe Experience teaches guests Hawaiian traditions while offering a fun adventure. Participants learn the basics of paddling, as well as the history of the canoe and its importance to Hawaiian heritage. Used by native Hawaiians to cross the rough channels between the islands, the outrigger canoe was built out of koa and other hard native woods. Not only an instrument of fishing and sustenance gathering, the outrigger became the long distance means by which Hawaiians, and the greater Polynesian society projected both settlements and conquests. The Hawaiian Canoe Experience fills up quickly and advanced reservations are required.
However you choose to spend your time, be sure to open your mind and your heart to the Hawaiian culture. Hawaiians believe that we need to be conscious and grateful of all the things around us: our health, our family, and nature. The incredible culture is based on the fundamental principles of love, support, hospitality, and giving without the expectation of receiving.

Beautiful grounds and beach with friendly staff
Solid resort in Maui but not at the level of other Fairmonts we've stayed at. We are by no means snobs, but at this price point we didn't feel like the value matched the (high) price. The grounds are gorgeous, the service was excellent (Tara who checked us in was awesome!) but our rooms were nothing very special. I also got food poisoning at the poolside restaurant on our first day (at the resort/on vacation) so that definitely put a damper on things. Personally, we'll try somewhere else next time.
Fantastic stay at Fairmont Kea Lani
We stayed at this property for 5 days and it was amazing. Room, grounds and food can be only complimented, as well as very friendly staff. It is a bit of the drive from the airport though so if you arriving late, as we did, prepare yourself with the map of the location (if you have car rental).
Amazing Maui Vacation!
The Fairmont Kea Lani is the best hotel we've stayed in Maui. Excellent service, staff is very helpful and pleasant - Concierge made excellent suggestions for dinner and activities. The suites were comfortable and spacious; loved the his and hers closets! No complaints. Beach is beautiful and never felt crowded. We look forward to our next visit! Mahalo!
Perfect Maui Stay
Perfect Maui Stay. This was the first visit to the Kea Lani. We've stayed at other properties in Maui in the past-Ritz, Hyatt, Westin, Grand Wailea. This was by far the best overall experience. Excellent location on Wailea. Beautiful beach. Gorgeous property. Perfect size as compared to other resorts. Not too big, not to small. Excellent service from valet, bell desk, check-in to dining. Staff very friendly/extremely helpful. Would receive regular texts during stay to follow up from font desk. A number of excellent restaurants. We had a King Suite. Room was very comfortable, good housekeeping service. Beautiful views of Maui/Ocean. Good value for Maui resorts. Hope to return again soon.
We stayed in a beachfront villa that was absolutely magnificent. From our greeting at the lobby to our checkout, everything was spot on. Kate deserves special recognition for this. The room was amazing, with spotless, efficient housekeeping and fresh snacks and juices every day. Service was on call 24/7. I really can't stress enough the quality and sincerity of the service. We felt like royalty. We were a party of six, with people from age 11 to 82. We're all vegetarians. No problems whatsoever. The hotel bent over backwards to accommodate all of our special requests. The on-site shopping and dining are also a feature in themselves. I can mention that the restaurant Ko is worth your attention. The beach is a gentle, slow-paced kind of place, with more emphasis on the romantic than the frenetic. Same with the pools. Everything is family friendly. I would highly recommend this hotel for anyone looking for a slightly slower, romantic feeling in Maui, and for anyone looking for top quality service without being nickled and dimed for every item. Very, very well done.
