Discover Poipu Beach's newest playground at the 391-room Sheraton Kauai Resort. A $16 million revitalization has brought new energy to the guest experience at this 20-acre retreat. A modern, refurbished entry leads to the beautifully landscaped open-air Ocean Courtyard lounge. Adorned with tiki torches and six conversation areas - three with fire pits - it's the perfect spot for cocktails under the stars.
Sheraton Kauai Resort's 391 rooms, including its 11 suites, are housed in eight buildings no higher than a mature coconut tree. Grouped together in three different locations, the room categories are identified according to their primary view: Garden Wing, Ocean Wing, and Beach Wing.
The expanded, multi-level pool sits just above the beach and is lined with eight private cabanas equipped with chaise lounges, a flat-screen TV, and ceiling fan. Lava's on Poipu Beach, the resort's new open-air restaurant and beach bar, is just steps away from the pool and ocean. Rum Fire is the island's newest hot spot, serving up nearly 180-degree ocean views from all 240 seats. The innovative Rum Fire menu features Hawaiian cuisine with global influences.

Naturally, given the perfect oceanfront location, you will find unlimited beach activities right outside your door. Scuba and snorkeling equipment, boogie boards, and beach cabanas are available at the Activity Center adjacent to the Ocean Pool. Stayed for a day room
We rented a day room as we had to check out of our rental home at 10am and our flight didn’t leave until 8pm. I could only find two hotels that allowed this and we chose the Sheraton. Five adults rented one day room (10am-7pm). Full access to the hotel with a hotel room so we had a place to retreat and shower. The staff was all beyond amazing - each person I cam in contact with (valet, servers, staff walking around the grounds, Towel and cabana check out, etc) were all beyond courteous and helpful. We hung out on the beach all day renting two cabanas for the day ($75 each) to have some shade. You have a flag to raise if you need a server - excellent service. The pool and beach area are very nice and relaxing. The grounds and room were extremely clean. When we return we will definitely be staying here. Highly recommended for a day room or to stay. Great location on the sunny side of the island.
Sheraton is the best place to stay in Kauai Island/HI. Beautiful and comfortable property...
This resort offers everything you are looking for: ocean, swimming pools, bar, restaurants, cafe, bungalows and more. They have all sorts of activities going on for family, children, I am positive you will love it. There are rooms by the ocean or another option with full kitchen/laundry across the street, good for a family. We stayed in the oceanside that I would highly suggest for couples on their honeymoon. We had a lot of fun and it was a great experience, we would definitely go back again and Sheraton will be our place one more time, no doubt.
4th Visit - Our Go to on Kauai
This is my fourth time staying at this resort. The first time was a girls’ get away with my sister and we stayed in the garden wing. Since then, I’ve been with my husband and we have always opted for the ocean front rooms, which are so worth the extra cost. We are on the ground floor (room 1108) and can walk right out into the Ocean Lawn to watch the sunsets or even see them from our lanai. The room is spacious with a king bed, sleeper sofa, coffee table, arm chair, bistro table with two chairs. There is in-room coffee and a small refrigerator. The bathroom is large and the closet as well, with a safe. The furnishings are slightly worn, but tasteful. The housekeeper who has serviced our room all week has been delightful and works so hard. We have enjoyed the restaurants (reviewed separately) and pool where we rented a bungalow one day ($95) since there were no lounge chairs available in the shade. Things that would make the resort a five-star: more drawers for clothing, robe hooks in the bathroom, more shade and adjustable umbrellas by the ocean-side pool, a “quiet zone” stand in the hallway to remind people not to talk loudly before/after customary sleeping hours. We also enjoyed the entertainment yesterday evening and local artisans they had from 5-7:30 offering jewelry and other items for sale in the courtyard area.
Ocean View Rooms...Splurge...Do it!!!
Third time staying at this property over the last 10 years. The two previous times we stayed on the garden side of the property and it was okay...but we continue to return as it is the location and the beach that is the main attraction here, and the beach is excellent! The option to rent beach cabanas is another nice option that they have continued (albeit for 75.00 a day) Many resorts in the islands have discontinued this amenity. Through the years, many of the reviews have stated that the splurge for the ocean side rooms was worth it. This time we decided to go for it and we have to agree that it was the best decision. We had stayed a week in Kapaa as a central location to explore the north side of the island and chose the last 6 nights to relax and enjoy the beach and our room at the Sheraton. We ended up with room 1216 and the view was AMAZING. Every night the sunsets were enjoyed on our lanai and every morning we would enjoy waking up with the sounds of the ocean on the lanai as well. The ocean front lawn in front of the room was where everyone wanted to be for the views of the sunset and all we had to do was relax and enjoy it from our room. It was perfect. If you get an Oceanside room, request a room on the same side as the fitness room and Link cafe. The other Oceanside rooms can be by the pool, the pool bar/restaurant (Lava's), or by the lawn where the laua takes place. These may be noisy!?!
After reading some recent negative reviews, I was slightly nervous, but don’t believe everything you read! My husband and I stayed here for our honeymoon and we had the BEST experience! Be aware that when you check in, the hotel portion is ocean front, the villas are “garden view”. We were in the villas, but we were able to see both the ocean and had a great view of the villa pool! The staff was very welcoming on check in, and the concierge Jane was very helpful with booking excursions and gave great restaurant recommendations. The ocean side pool and beach were beautiful (we’re sad to leave the fabulous views)! Both Lava’s and RumFire were delicious. The luau on site was really fun and the food was great! If we ever make our way back to Kauai, which we hope we do, we will definitely be sure to stay here!
