Discover Poipu Beach's newest playground at the 391-room Sheraton Kauai Resort. A $16 million revitalization has brought new energy to the guest experience at this 20-acre retreat. A modern, refurbished entry leads to the beautifully landscaped open-air Ocean Courtyard lounge. Adorned with tiki torches and six conversation areas - three with fire pits - it's the perfect spot for cocktails under the stars.
Sheraton Kauai Resort's 391 rooms, including its 11 suites, are housed in eight buildings no higher than a mature coconut tree. Grouped together in three different locations, the room categories are identified according to their primary view: Garden Wing, Ocean Wing, and Beach Wing.
The expanded, multi-level pool sits just above the beach and is lined with eight private cabanas equipped with chaise lounges, a flat-screen TV, and ceiling fan. Lava's on Poipu Beach, the resort's new open-air restaurant and beach bar, is just steps away from the pool and ocean. Rum Fire is the island's newest hot spot, serving up nearly 180-degree ocean views from all 240 seats. The innovative Rum Fire menu features Hawaiian cuisine with global influences.
Kauai is a wonderland of outdoor activity and adventure, and Sheraton Kauai Resort serves as your base camp. Naturally, given the perfect oceanfront location, you will find unlimited beach activities right outside your door. Scuba and snorkeling equipment, boogie boards, and beach cabanas are available at the Activity Center adjacent to the Ocean Pool. The resort offers two swimming pools: a brand new oceanfront pool and a tranquil garden pool. You also have access to a fitness center and a news/internet library. Excellent shopping and numerous local attractions are within walking distance.

Very impressive resort
Fantastic resort on Poipu Beach. We got a deal that included breakfast and an oceanfront room. I don't think I would have gone without these perks. The room was great overlooking the pool. The hotel could use better food service. Lava's at the pool had over-prepared food and was expensive. No true "grab and go." didn't eat at the expensive restaurant. Staff was great
The Sheraton Kauai Resort was our second stop on a two week visit to the Garden Island. Having left the Westin Princeville after 7 wonderful days and nights on the North Shore, we drove south to spend a few days on the South Shore. We were upgraded to a top floor ocean view room at check in. Wow! The views were spectacular, and we immediately went out into our balcony to feel the ocean breezes. The room was very spacious, the seating and lighting in the room good, and the king bed, like all Sheraton beds, was luxurious. The bathroom was beautifully appointed, and had more than enough towels! We arrived on a Saturday, & our room overlooked the hotel Luau grounds! We had a simple dinner at the hotel Lava Restaurant, hightailed it back to our balcony, and sat there with drinks in hand watching the show! What a nice treat! The pool area is small, but the pools are delicious. We rented one of the cabana’s on the sand one day, just inches from the shore break. Word of caution...the ocean in front of the hotel was pretty brutal while we were there. Between the undertow & the battering waves, it took lots of strength to exit the water. All in all, the Sheraton was great. There is valet parking, so use it. There are precious few parking spots on the grounds.
Best place we stayed during our trip
This was the best hotel that we stayed at during our trip. We also stayed at a different resort on the north side of the island as well as a resort on the Big Island and this was by far the best. This is located in a great location walking distance from shops, restaurants, and the beach. If I had the chance to re-do my trip, I would choose to only stay here for the length of my time on the island.
Perfect for a Honeymoon
Best place to stay on the island. We came for our honeymoon and this resort was perfect. We stayed in the Oceanfront rooms, which was absolutely worth it. The rooms were perfect, the bed comfortable, the robes, the coffee, everything was great. It has a beautiful pool and beach area, with shaded beach chairs and bungalows to rent for VERY affordable prices compared to other tropical resorts. The poolside service is a bit slow, but it is a nice convenience. Having a beach is huge, as most places do not have a beach very close. Parking is complimentary and very close and easy to park. Check in and valet service is excellent. The food is a bit subpar at the two restaurants and I would dine elsewhere if I came again. Room service is exorbitantly expensive, I'm guessing they want you to eat at their facilities. There is a cafe that serves some basic food (pizza, hot dog, sandwiches), Starbucks, and sells booze and other non-alcoholic drinks. Can be quite a wait, so be prepared. I would absolutely come here again. We had an amazing experience and can't thank the staff enough for providing a wonderful spot for a honeymoon!
Honeymoon on Kauai
My wife and I recently stayed to celebrate the last week of our honeymoon. We were greeted with smiling faces by the bell men and at the front desk. Sheryl was professional and very friendly. We checked into our garden-side villa, which was perfect because we had lots of laundry and wanted to make simple meals. The resort was very clean for the most part (except for construction areas) and the staff was friendly. One staffer even gave us some fresh mangos as we were walking back from the pool. There are quite a few poor reviews because of the construction noise, which did bother me as well (only 1 or 2 days where we heard jack hammers or loud machinery). However, I would highly recommend this resort once the construction is complete or if that does not bother you. The resort is about a 5 minute walk to a plaza with restaurants (recommend Anuenue Cafe for brunch and Keoki's for dinner) and a convenience store or about a 20 min walk to a larger plaza with more options (recommend Kiawe Roots). Cara from the concierge helped us book some adventures. We highly recommend the sunset Catamaran dinner cruise through Blue Dolphin Charters, the Luau on the resort, and renting a car to explore the island (renting for one-day was sufficient). All in all, this resort had everything we wanted. Only thing I wish we did was take time to enjoy the 2-mile Heritage Trail.
