POOR & had to move hotels!!

Me & my two best friends checked in at around 16:30pm on 17th October and our room wasn’t ready, considering we had been travelling for over 10 hours. We had to sit in the lobby for about 45 minutes until the room was ready. The guy on reception gave us a map and told us no information at all about restaurants etc, he didn’t even explain where our room was located. When we got to the room the first thing we did was take pictures which everyone would, we got onto the balcony and we got paint speckles all over our clothes and hair as they were painting the walls near to our room (which no one told us about this). So we complained to reception and after a few staff inspecting the issue and dragging there feet, we finally got to move rooms which was fine because we ended up with a better view. We was thirsty so opened our mini fridge to see that it was empty (even though our booking stated mini fridge which would be stocked daily). So we rang about the fridge and the staff advised us they have discontinued the fridge and no longer stock it. So we complained and they said they would honour it and fill it first thing on 18th. So when we got back from the beach that day around 16:00pm it was still empty. So we rang a few people and finally had it filled. When I don’t understand why we can’t have free drinks in our room when we are all inclusive. There are scaffolding around the hotel and also maintenance work right next to our hotel on the beach (which again we was not made aware of). The main reason we came to Bahamas was to relax on the stunning beach. But instead we have to sit on uncomfortable basic sun beds listening to banging and clanging all day. So you will be disappointed if you come to this hotel for the beach, this is the main reason we have had to move hotels. I go to get a drink for the 3 of us, due to no waitress service on the beach at all... To then be greeted by a miserable man stating its 2 drinks per customer (I said well there is 3 of us), only because I asked for a tray. He said get your friends to come here and get them, I said oh no thats fine I will just make 3 journeys. We go to eat at O’grille for dinner to see that it is shut for refurbishment even though there was no work being done and people could even sit in the restaurant (strange I know). The only option for food was a small takeaway bbq section with burgers, hot dogs and rude lazy staff. With one women coming over saying “Yes I can get ketchup but I don’t know how long I will be”. We ate there one day and then another day we went to the buffet, which first off smelt like wet dog and second off it reminded me of school dinners at school, poor selection, poor quality and poor staff. Which even resulting in a couple of our party going straight to the toilet. We had room service a few times including for breakfast but each time we had it we needed to pay 10usd for them to bring it to the room. Which I think is disgusting when the food is free anyway, we have stayed at loads of all inclusive hotels worldwide and never have to pay a tray charge for all inclusive food. We have even stayed at a couple of Melia hotels, including the Melia cayo coco, which were way better than this hotel. The snack shop in the hotel is a rip off, they charge you 10usd for a packet of crisps or 4usd for a chocolate bar. When we found a shop down the road that charged 3usd for some crisps. Some staff members were nice around the hotel but alot of them were rude (especially managers). Its hard to get in touch with a manager as when we go to the desk, the staff go round the corner for about 20minutes until a so called manager actually appears. Last thing I would like to talk about is the lack of air con around the building. The stairways, hall ways and corridors have no air con at all, and the rooms air con is poor. We couldn’t sleep well at night due to us sweating and feeling too hot. We called down for them to sort it and the maintenance guy came but I don’t think we even did anything as it was still too hot. The only two staff members I can praise are Patrick from the pool bar who was lovely and friendly and also a women (whose name I didn’t catch) from room service. I would not recommend this hotel to anyone, as you certainly are not getting the service or quality you pay for.

    My Experience at Melia Bahamas

My son loves pigs; and we wanted to bring him to pig beach in Bahamas for his 9th birthday. We selected the Melia Bahamas based on its reviews but what we encountered when we got to the Hotel was totally different. To start with customer service so far has been the worst out of all the places we have been, starting from the lobby bar were my older son asked for a smoothy and when the bartender saw him seating at the bar asked my on a very rude way to get out of there since you could only seat at the bar if you're consuming alcohol, when he finally asked for his smoothy the bartender didn't even looked at him until I personally asked for it. A similar situation happened when we asked for a bottle of water to prepair my niece's formula. The person said that if we came with a baby we should bring bottled water, that was among other things. The room wasn't as advertised either, there were four of us in the room, and only two towels were brought daily the bathroom tub was never cleaned during our stay. We are frequent travellers, specially to the Caribbean since we all love the beach and warm weather. The beaches in the Bahamas are amazing, all of them, we will come back to the Bahamas but not to the same hotel

    Not worth the money

You can find a better resort for the money. An all inclusive resort should make you feel like you don’t ever have to leave or want to leave. You will want to leave this place. The carpet in the rooms and hallways at a beach resort keep the smell of mildew trapped inside. The food is not very good. Room service charges $10 per delivery unless you upgrade your package. Construction going on and blocking views in some rooms and pricing doesn’t reflect this.

    The Marketplace

I had to take the time to recognize our server Ian at the Market Place. He was attentive and very friendly to my husband and I. With people like this on your staff your business will thrive. Thanks Ian for making us feel so welcomed!

Beautiful Resort and very nice Staff!!

We felt very blessed the whole time we were at the Melia Resort (October 1 -October 7th 2019), from start to finish the staff took good care to make sure we were having a nice time!! "Taj" at the check-in desk was very accommodating with making sure we understood everything we got to have for our all-inclusive package-explained with a smile --- we had breakfast every morning at the big buffet in the "Market Place Restaurant" downstairs with our choice of inside seating or outside seating "Ingrid Williamson" was the best hostess- big smile and great conversationalist for us guests. "Carolyn Curry" who got drinks for us out on the beach is one of the best who works there by far, working hard out in the sun and always smiling & so sweet to us, we had room 464, with great pool view and ocean view- bedding super clean and comfy -we just had the best time on our trip -- we are planning our next trip back already. Love, Kari & Tom.
