2nd time, better than we even remembered!
WOW, we had the best family vacation! We visited 2 years ago (also in August) and this time was even better than the first. Kids are now 10, 13, 16 and they thoroughly enjoyed the activities (we are Club Med fans, so I'm pretty picky about the entertainment and I can say the Star Friends team has really stepped up from 2 years ago: Marco, Alex, Marina, Carlos, Charley, Tony for archery...really great!). We used the free snorkels and walked a short distance to see puffer fish etc.; we also used the kayaks. The ocean is wonderful - flat as a pancake (August) you can bring your floaty and just enjoy the very warm water and little fish swimming by your feet. Pool area: we spent a lot of time at the pool, Elvia was the best waitress, and the swim up bar we remembered Adrian who is so friendly, and Rogelio and Santana work so hard. All these guys are 5 stars. Don't miss the sunset at the rooftop bar! It is so special and you could see it every night for a week and not feel bored. Guests : everyone is so friendly and happy! We made friends with a couple families and even left the resort one night with them for dinner b/c we enjoyed our time together. If you have kids, they will make friends which is so special on a vacation. Room: we didn't have any humidity issues but please know if you have 2 rooms for your family and want to guarantee adjoining rooms, you need to book a Family Room double room. We booked through cheapcarribean and did a "request for adjoining rooms", so we had to switch rooms the 2nd day to have adjoining rooms. Having children in a room that is not adjoined is not ok at this age. Carlos in reception spent a long time rearranging rooms so we could have the right room the 2nd day, he was very helpful. Both trips we had the ocean view rooms facing the golf course, we loved this view and are close to the lobby. Food: even though I'm giving the hotel overall 5 stars, the food is not my favorite (I've been to 4 other all inclusives in Mexico, including 1 in March in Riviera Maya). The daytime food is awesome, love the beach grill, love the fresh tacos or paella next to the pool each day at lunch. It's dinnertime that brings me down (except the excellent Japanese). We couldn't get reservations anywhere else except at 6pm which was too early, so we ate the buffet more than we wanted to. We ate all the restaurants last time we visited, so we knew what we were missing but we enjoyed the pool and beach too much to rush for an early dinner. The buffet is very clean and good quality, it just lacks in variety. For an entire week, they either need to open up reservations to the other restaurants more, or change the food in the buffet so we don't see the same food every night. Ray was our server one evening and he was great! The hotel lobby/entrance decor etc is really beautiful and high quality. It's nicer than I remembered. You will not regret going to this hotel, and it is not a huge place so you feel safe, especially with children. I research my trips A LOT, and this year I really tried to pick a different resort in PV but in the end, I'm so so glad we returned here. And we will be back!
Star Friends are Amazing!!!!
What a great time we had this week in Playa Mita. The Star Friends have so much energy and organize fun activities. Every day we played water polo, volleyball, darts and bingo!!! So fun! The shows are amazing too! Star Singers are so entertaining. We were not able to say goodbye to Alex-the super MC who brings the fun!! Jose we loved your sweet smile and happy nature. You made us want to play all the activities!! We hope to see you again! This hotel stands out from others due to this entertainment. Food was good and great service(Jesus at the pool bar is such a gracious hard worker). Give those Star Friends some props!!! We want to return because they connected with us and encouraged us to connect with other tourists. So, thank you!! Love, Christine, Doug and Zaya
Maravilloso! Enchantment, Serenity and Abundant Amenities!
Our niece was getting married in June somewhere north of Puerto Vallarta. I’d never heard of Punta de Mita or the Iberostar resort. In January we stayed at the Grand Bliss at Vidanta Nuevo Vallarta for a few days and might possibly compare the two. Without a doubt Iberostar gave us a most memorable experience thanks to its incredible staff, beautiful grounds and beach side ambience! The activities were diverse, fun and led by multitalented staff members including Alex, Marco, and Marcelo. In the morning they would be teaching dance or supervising ping pong competitions; in the evening they would be performing in the theater! The dancers were amazing! The Rock Show and other special evening events were highly entertaining. There was yoga, meringue lessons, and more! The abundant food selection was excellent especially at the morning buffet. I don’t remember the names of all the eateries but you’ll discover them and their tasty offerings including freshly made tortillas, guacamole, fruit juices, and a smorgasbord of delectable dishes. Don’t miss Panchito’s tacos out by the pool! And our housekeepers were excellent keeping our rooms clean and providing special treats on our bed like rose petals! In the restaurants our waiters were attentive and personable: Vivian, Jesus, Yesy, Catalina, and Katarina! And step into the Nightclub for a drink and dancing!! It’s recommended for dancers of all ages! I also appreciate Iberostar’s support of sustainability practices: reducing waste, recycling, conserving energy and water and providing local food when possible. The only downside we experienced was the musty smell in our room that no doubt comes with a tropical climate. The AC seemed to contribute to the smell so we just kept in off and enjoyed the bug free night air. Although I liked Vidanta, Iberostar rates very high for its serene environment, memorable staff and myriad activities! Oh, and I can’t forget the pools...and super talented musicians who perform a variety of styles of music from 80s rock to energizing salsa! We also want to thank Leo, Angel, Alex, Jesus and Carlos at the front desk and in PR! ¡Nos vemos pronto!
The best vacation ever!
This was my third time to stay at this hotel. I travelled with my 17 year old daughter. Everything was excellent! We had a ground room in building two. Initially we got a room in building one, but it was too far to walk to the poole, as my daughter has some health problems. The guy at the front desk, sorry don't remember the name (starts with R), was very helpful and moved us to building 2 next day. I didn't find the front desk people rude at all, as somebody mentioned it in previous review. Stuff at the poole and at the restaurant remembered us from previous stay. Marco, Isabell, Esmeralda thank you for your great service. Actually all the guys by the poole were very nice. Lots of activities and enthusiasm. One evening I was walking with my daughter in the lobby, and the guy at the Japanese restaurant asked me if I remember him. Sorry Diego, that I didn't, but we met you first time 5 years ago. That was amazing! Sandro at Pacific Express our long time friend, we met him 5 years ago as well. I also want to thank you all the wonderful Mexica people we met. You were super nice to my daughter, and I can't thank you enough. The Star Band you are simply amazing! Great night shows, lots of fun. I hope you will be there next year! The food, rooms, layout of the hotel, beach love it all. No complaints whatsoever. Thank you for the great time everybody!
My family and I visited this resort this month for 5 nights. The customer service was above amazing, housekeeping constantly kept our room clean and organized, the bartenders at the swim up bar were extremely knowledgeable and quick! The beach was so clean, and the scenery was gorgeous. The food was incredible, a nice variety. My favorite was the steakhouse! My children had such a blast at the kiddy water park and kids club( I have a two year old and 6 year old). The kids club was amazing! They had different things to offer everyday; making tie dye t shirts, arts and crafts, they even took them to the kiddy pool themselves. They also would throw the kids plays and dance parties after dinner time. They provided a safe and loving environment the entire time as well. I also noticed that majority of the staff spoke English which was very nice. Best resort I have been to in Mexico by far!
