Overall this was a decent stay, here are the pros and cons: Pros - Staff were great! Johnny at check in was great(probably best check in I've had), Charlie at the front concierge was awesome, and every other staff interaction was great. - Resort was very clean and was well staffed. - Food was slightly above average, you will be able to find something you like but anything longer than a week stay will be a bit much. It's a big resort and trying to feed that many people that love the food is impossible. The A La Cart restaurants were better than I had expected. - We had thunder storms pretty much every night but one night was crazy with the amount of rain that came down in a short period of time. The staff were great getting the water under control, all hands on deck. Cons: - The musty/mildew smell in the room was really bad! We never bothered to talk to the front desk about this as others in our group had the same issue. Not much sense in changing rooms to go to another room that smells slightly less like wet gym socks. I suspect this smell is due to it being at the end of the slow season and the air flow in and out of the room had been a bare minimum for a few months. - The biggest problem for me was the AC in the room. There is no real thermostat in the room only a control box for the AC, nothing to show the actual temp. This control box was limited to a min temp of 20c but I have my doubts that was accurate. The control box was password protected so I left $10 with a note for the box to be turned down to 18 but when i got to the room it had only been turned down to 19. Better than 20 I guess. I believe the room is equipped with motion sensors, as most resorts are, to detect when no one is in the room and to shut off the AC or at least put it in limp mode. I understand why this is done, I can't imagine the power consumption a resort uses and the savings they would see by doing this. All of that being said, I want control of my comfort in my room! Even if everything else about the resort is top notch, if I have to sleep in a room with damp sheets and sweat all night long, I won't be happy with the place. I'm more than happy for it to be in limp mode when I'm out but it's important for me to have complete control when I'm in my room.
Myself and 3 others stayed for 4 nights . It is a very beautiful resort from the moment you get out of the car.It is a very large place , you do lots of walking just to go eat or to go to the front where the gift shop is. There are several resturaunts that you have to make reservations at in order to eat there and also a buffet for breakfast, lunch and dinner. We chose to eat at the Mexican resturant and the Steakhouse. They both were good. We tried to make another reservation for the steakhouse another night but they didn't have anything available. The buffet for lunch & dinner is just ok. They have the same thing every night & day it seems and when you cant get reservations for the resturants then you get tired of eating the same thing over and over. Just not many options. The swimming pool area is very nice. They have servers that will bring you drinks to the pool which was great .The beach on the other hand was a dissappointment for me. It is very narrow. It is raw, un manicurred . It was even muddy in some areas. The walk way to the beach had been washed out and it was very muddy there as well. There are rocks on the beach. I didnt find it appealing at all. We had an ocean front junior suit. It was okay but I guess I expected it to be a little nicer. I noticed the ceiling had been repaired but they didnt paint it when they were finished , just left it discolored. The patio door going out onto the balcony was almost impossible to open and close so if we were going out we just left it open because of how hard it was to shut. There are not a lot of things to do here.Every day we just went to the pool and stayed there until time to eat dinner. They encourage everyone to go to Sayulita for the day but we chose to stay there. We did get a massage and that was a first for me. It was good and gave us something to do to kill some time. The people there are very nice. This was my first time being in Mexico. This trip for me was just okay.
the food is amazing, the beach is stunning and I had the best concierge taking care of my the whole vacations his names is Benji. also the guys at the Mexican restaurant were fantastic with their service.
Something for Everyone - Excellent Service
From infants to 90-year old grandparents, this place has it all. If you want to go somewhere where all you want to do is think about doing nothing but sit on a chaise lounge under an umbrella while sipping cocktails; or your thinking about whether you should go on a surfing safari, tequila tasting, or just explore the picturesque towns that surround the hotel, then this is where you want to be. The attention to service is outstanding. There are five restaurants on the premises that serve different kinds of cuisine -- Mexican, Japanese, Steakhouse, French, and buffet. Fish tacos are served during the day at the beach bar, while a poolside buffet is also set up for the taking. Don't feel like leaving your room? Why not order free room service along with a bottle of wine? And help yourself to refreshments and cold beer in your room's mini-fridge. Two people come to mind when I think about excellent service and attention like we've never experienced before -- our Concierge Juancho Cruz not only made sure that we had everything we needed but was kind, honest, generous, and welcoming. Juancho, being a surfer himself, knew every surf spot and made my husband's surfing vacation memorable and rewarding. The other person was Francisco, who had our chaise lounges and umbrellas ready for us every morning at the exact spot on the beach that we wanted to be. Francisco was more concerned about me having enough umbrellas to protect me from the sun than about burning his own feet on the hot sand - and believe me, that sand was HOT - muy caliente!! Francisco is a true GEM! If zumba, merengue, and salsa lessons aren't your thing, there also yoga, bingo, live theatrical shows, disco, and kids club. And if that's still not enough you can plan a romantic dinner for two with your own private chef. Whatever you decide be assured that Juancho at Concierge and Francisco on the beach will make your stay at this hotel worth every cent.
Crazy Husband and WIfe LOVE THIS RESORT
Yadira really made things so special for me and my husband at no extra cost. They decorated the room and more. My husband and I are light blue members. We had troubles with booking and Mildred in Star prestige was there to save the day. Prior to our trip we spoke and she straightened everything out for us AND made sure we were accommodated as members during our stay. My husband had two...yes TWO freak accidents day 1&2. Day one he busted the flesh on his big two open walking on a step & The meds came rushing to his rescue. Day 2 Halfway through and amazing beautiful day my Husband slipped his Same big toe under the lip of the wooden chase in our suite and tore his whole big toenail off. Yahir And Benjamin aka Benji Jumped right into Rescue mode and sent us straight to the infirmary in sight where he was treated by the Doctor. I was yelling, screaming & crying like a nut. Day 3 our last day Rey Derek took the best looking after of us and we left feeling like old friends. On our way out Yadira made sure our travel was seem less and fair in price. My Husband accidentally left his cell in the cab so I called Yahir...our savior by this point arranged for the cab to come back. We waited until the last second but the cab hadn’t come back yet, so we cut our losses to return home. If it weren’t for everyone involved I don’t think we would have ended our trip on the Amazing note we did. Even when I gave poor Yahir a hard time he was gracious enough to Genuinely love us. become members
