Very clean and tidy resort.
Can honestly say I’ve never seen so many staff either cleaning, maintaining, entertaining or servicing guests needs. Our bathroom and decor was a little tired for what purports to be a 5 star hotel. Also the shower could be greatly improved. However, the cleanliness and helpfulness of the staff made up for this. The food was mostly very good if you like buffet style cuisine. Everything you like is catered for. Branded spirts and drinks. Although we really enjoyed our stay and would most probably be returning for longer I still do not feel it warrants a 5 star rating (neither do most of the other Mexican resorts) compared with other parts of the world ie; Far and Middle East. I personally would rate as a very good 4 star. The resort restaurants were worth a visit once you could eventually get a reservation. Teppanyaki was gimmicky and mainly about the chef show than the food, which was quite ordinary. The European restaurant had some lovely fish with a good selection of Buffett starters and deserts. And our favourite was the Brazilian as this had an amazing buffet starter and desert section. The meat skewers were reasonably good and plentiful. Beach was lovely and spotless along with beach bar and numerous smaller buffet eating areas scattered around the resort. In conclusion you could do far worse that stay at this resort. It has something to cater for everyone at every time. . This is why we will be back again with the whole family.
Amazing staff and wonderful hotel
This hotel really took care of us during our week long stay. We were there for a wedding with 80 other guests and they had everything we needed right at the hotel. We were given an option to upgrade to the Lindo, which we took because of the food options and pools. Manuel- bellboy, always took care of us and went out of his way to pick us up and drop us off wherever we needed to go. Luis and Walter- concierge always met our requests with exceptional service and made us feel at home. These 3 truly made our stay wonderful! My only complaint was the room service, it took over an hour to come and ALWAYS missed something in the menu. For example, our burger came with no beef patty at one time and other items. Other than the room service and a few minor things, this resort goes above and beyond for its customers and I highly recommend it for families as there a lot of things to do for the kids too. The food options are delicious.
Where do I begin.... First day, our reservation was incorrect, even though we were contacted 2x by the resort. Then everyday (for 7 days) the electricity and A/C would go off. We were told our room was oceanview, we have giant plants, NO ocean view. We had 2 days where our room was not cleaned, and had to complain. Then it says laundry facilities, yes. If you can get them to pick up your laundry, oh and yes, you have to pay for each item you send. Last day here, we were locked out of our room, BOTH key cards stopped working. We work hard to take a vacation once a year and if you are like us, stay away from here.
Mostly Very Positive
We have just returned from a 10 day stay at the Iberostar Paraiso Beach (2 adults and 2 children aged 16 and 12). Firstly the positives:- The grounds and gardens and superb and beautifully kept - the gardeners work hard every day to ensure they are immaculate - also you see a wide variety of birds and animals as you walk around. We enjoyed the walking but there are plentiful golf buggies to carry people around this huge resort for those needing it. The staff are very friendly indeed and always provided us with a good service - particular thanks to Alfonso (bike tour) and Beto (Pilates session). We arranged a cab from front desk to take us to Playa del Carmen which was very easy and on check out a buggy turned up on time to help with luggage. The pools are excellent - enormous pool areas so never seemed too busy - 3 swim up bars dotted around also with a good range of drinks. Beach towels provided. Wifi - seemed to work well across the whole resort, always useful for families. The evening shows - good standard and very enjoyable. The rooms - perfectly adequate and the maids give them a good clean and tidy daily and re-stocked the in room minibar - toiletries also provided. There are a wide range of activities arranged by the star team on a daily basis - no pressure to join in but we did the archery, cycling, pilates, aqua gym in the pool and volley ball / other pool games amongst others. Now to the negatives:- All the buffet restaurants and Italian are not air conditioned - the hotel states this creates a more 'natural feel' - be wary, eating in 30+ degree heat day and night in that humidity is no fun at all. This was a major drawback for me and would put me off going back to Paraiso Beach Restaurant booking system was very busy - we had to eat far too early twice as there was no availability - your bookings do not link to the online app either and was told by staff best to book in person at front desk - the functionality of their app in not god at all. 2 of our beach towels were stolen twice in same day! We had to report at front desk who produced a long list of people in the same position. Clearly people get their towels taken and the take other peoples to avoid a surcharge (you get a towel card at start of stay and it will cost you $10 per towel if you lose the card) - the system is flawed and needs changing Mosquitos!! Not something Iberostar can do much about I appreciate but just to advise travellers, I had 50% deet spray on constantly for 2 weeks and return with best part of 20 bites!! There is some pressure to do the 2-3 hour tour for them to try and sell their vacation club - avoid this with a firm not interested. We got talking to several staff and they were always trying to get an angle to get you there. They claim you only get the $500 room credit if the whole family turns up at reception! Clearly part of the ploy. We walked around Lindo / Maya / Grand one day on our own anyway if you want to see it. So in summary, the positives outweigh the negatives at this resort and we did really enjoy it. Just a few changes to make it even better. If we were to ever return, we would look to consider the Maya / Lindo due to the air conditioning issue at the buffets mainly - But overall, a very enjoyable 10 days at Iberostar Paraiso Beach.
Best Vacay EVER!!!
The resort was amazing and so was the Entertainment Team. They were out there and rocking it the whole 5 days of our stay. I had so much fun at the activities and dancing that they put on. Big shoutout to JAVI, KIMBERLY, and GIANCARLO! They were all super engaging and showed us a fun time! 1000% recommend going to check out these great people!
