So I was rather nervous after reading the reviews, i didn’t need to be. Its not a 5* like we know in the uk so don’t expect it, if you want a 5* book the ritz or Dorchester for a week! This I my third time to Mexico and the best hotel yet, check in was smooth great room with a king bed with complimentary bottle of fizz and fruit. Rooms Huge and spacious very clean, come with iron and board, umbrella, toiletries and a fully stocked mini bar. No English channels only the news but no big issue. WIFI is ok ish but again your on holiday chill out! Water isn’t mega hot in the shower but when your sunburnt who cares, what I have heard is that rooms with a interconnected door can be very noisy so I would ask to be moved. Food No complaints what so ever what I will say is don’t expect Mexican food to be like us English know it. I’ve been to a lot of all inclusive and this is one of the best the buffets are fab loads of choice there is something for everyone and remember your in Mexico your their to try their culture not live on egg and chips! The Al La Cartes Men must wear long trousers and is waiter service Seafood So good we went twice probably the best salmon I’ve ever had in my life amazing, the coconut dessert was Devine. Italian Great Italian salad bar, I had the beef fillet it was a huge and of course to follow was tiramisu again very good. Our wait Gil was lovely French Was also great I had the beetroot salad, peppered beef fillet so good. As it’s quiet at the moment not all al la cartes open everyday only 3 at a time, this was fine as I was only there for week anyway so alternated with the buffets. Bars There is the swing bar on the beach go see Samuel the bar man he’s lovely , the lounge near the la cartes is nice for a drink before dinner and black and white where all the entertainment ie the shows which are incredible. Great drinks and strong and branded gin! The cocktails you must try are blue bay and a mango tango, I would advise you take your own drinks cups for the day the reason I say this is because the last time I came to Mexico I was poorly from when the cups are washed and stacked up still wet! I bought a cup from Asda £3 and it keeps my drinks cold of also Mexico has a no drinks straw policy so I took stainless steel ones, and used sterilising tablets to clean both cup and straws. Entertainment There is so much going on from 10am to 9.30 the guys are fabulous. Wilbur and Alemandro and his team work so hard Aqua aerobics is my favourite such a laugh, there’s all sorts going off all day. A show on most nights really good productions. Pools So the one near me was closed for re furs I was in block 6, no big issue the main pool is huge it’s ha quiet and noisy spots it’s just been rebuilt so all brand new with day beds in the pool. The other pool being fixed has a swim up pool bar. Overall this holiday has been brilliant, champagne for breakfast the staff cannot do enough for you, yes there’s a few wild animals but they don’t bother you as your in tropical environment what do you expect. Ignore the negative reviews it’s all bull s;(t please feel free to ask an questions.
Stayed here in September 2019
A big thank you to Tiare Tovar in concierge for her excellent customer service. Weather was excellent for the whole two weeks from 15th to 30th September. It rained a couple of times in the evening. Towels are included, you receive a towel card on arrival.
Beautiful grounds, older structures
We've been to this hotel approximately eight times. Just love the grounds. Lots of well lit paths among lush foliage. If you don't like to walk, they have golf carts running frequently. They have two buffet type breakfast locations, one by the beach and The Festaval a walk away. The beach location is fine but not air conditioned. The Festival has air and table linens. Santiago's area is the best service. Be sure to meet Theresa, a little lady who is always smiling and singing. The guest rooms are older but well cared for by the housekeeping folks. We had a young man named David Torres who went out of his way to keep our room spotless and he makes fabulous towel animals. Foods good in the five restaurants (other than the buffett). Basically, no gripes from us. Nine days this trip and we enjoyed every minute of it.
I read reviews before booking this stay and they were very mixed so I was a bit worried since we paid such a reasonable price, but my worries were totally unfounded! We stayed four days and had a wonderful time! The check in was easy and our room was spacious with a nice balcony and view! The staff are all polite and accommodating and we were happy to tip 20 pesos (USD$1) to those who gave such excellent service. Still a bargain!! The beach was nice although there were a few rocks here and there. Grounds are kept well maintained. It was fun to see the local deer and coatis. We were in building 5, by request, as we wanted a quieter room. It was less than 7 minute stroll to the front desk. (We never used the shuttle as the walks were paved and well lit.) The food was plentiful and of excellent quality. We enjoyed the French dining and Seafood dining at the specialty restaurants, but the standard buffet was varied and delicious as well. Lots of activities and kids, but not overwhelming for those that just want to relax. I travel for work and pleasure several weeks a month, staying in various properties and I was very pleased with this choice. I cannot think of any criticism to offer. I will recommend this property to friends who like to avoid the high rise hotels and enjoy a relaxing getaway.
A solid Vacation place
Had another great time at the Bluebay. They were upgrading the beach when we were there so excited to see a better beach next time. It was our third trip to Bluebay and the food is always amazing. Be sure to see Benjamin in the French Restaurant. AMAZING service. Ask for the Mayan drink.
