Greening Your Life: Part of the Apple Vacations Greening Your Life initiative, this property uses 100% of its green waste for compost and also sends wet waste from kitchens to pig farmers for feed, which helps to reduce landfill waste considerably. Waste cooking oil is collected and processed into biodiesel fuel, while the 4,000 sq. foot on-site hydroponics farm supplies the resort's restaurants and events with approximately 120lbs. of fresh produce per week.
Landscaping is tended to with biological pest controls over harsh chemical options.
The property also utilizes heat produced by the air-conditioning system by converting the output into heat water for guestrooms and swimming pools. On top of that, nearly 60,000 sq. ft. of grass-covered roofing helps to reduce cooling needs. Guests can also enjoy cashmere-soft robes, which are made from 100% recycled bottles.

A beautiful property, but facilty is dated with some unpleasant issues
The property is indeed beautiful, particularly as you walk in the main lobby and appreciate the expansive view of the ocean. That said, we were "upgraded" from the terrible location of "parking lot view" on the outside of the property to a garden view room which was on the outskirts of the property, specifically room 1002. It is quite a LONG walk to this room and then to any of the property features from the room. Okay, don't mind walking but future guests should know it is a hike to go anywhere. As we were escorted to our room, we began to notice a very dank small of mold/mildew seemingly coming from the stained hallway carpeting. As we arrived at our room, we noted one of the doors was open and an air moving machine was operating. It was in place for a couple of days but definitely did not solve the lingering stench. The room was quite average, dated decor and showed signs of significant usage. The bathroom was appointed with Toto faucets etc. which is nice, but unfortunately, the toilet seemed to operate most of the time and again, a terrible lingering stench. We had to keep the door closed at all times to control the odor. One other thing we noticed is that there was no evening service offered to our room although it appeared it was provided to other rooms..... Grateful for the on-site laundry facilities and supplied but be warned, the equpiment is in desperate need of cleaning...... Bicycles available at the property and had a nice ride into the adjacent towns. The pool area was nice and we enjoyed good meals at Stevenson's (sushi) and Dondero's (Italian). The service at both locations was quite good. We utilized the "Expedia" travel assistants in the lobby and were quite pleased with their recommendations and set-up of our excursions.

One of the best resorts on the island
I’m not a Hyatt loyalty member, but this experience definitely converted me. This hotel ranks among the best on the island in terms of facilities and amenities, and the friendly hospitality is second to none. The hotel is located in Poipu, which is south side of the island. If beach bumming or surfing are what you are looking for, this side of the island is perfect. You’re also located near Waimea Canyon, the Na Pali coast, hiking trails, and several small shopping outlets. The north side of the island, about an hour away, is the other main resort area, and is closer to the entrances to Haena, Koke’e, Ke’e, Na Pali State Parks. We spent one day up there, which was plenty for us, but depends on what you are looking to do and something to take note of. The check-in/out process was surprisingly memorable. The front desk staff were so incredibly helpful and created a great first impression upon arrival. After coming from another Hawaii resort that inundated us with resort and parking fees (over $500 by the end of our stay), it was a relief to find out the Hyatt waived our resort and parking fees because we paid with points. FYI - the resort fee here also includes self parking, unlike other resorts that separate the charges. Upon checkout, because we had a late afternoon flight, they allowed us to use the facilities and to clean up in their hospitality lounge, which was a nice touch. Their facilities are excellent and among the best on the island. I remember walking outside for the first time and being in awe at the the sheer size of the pools, including their beautiful saltwater lagoon. Poipu Beach is adjacent the property as well. We didn’t eat too many meals at the hotel, just given the abundance of options on the island, but we did stop by their lobby bar in the evening for traditional Hawaiian live music, which was an excellent cap to the day. We heard from other guests that Tidepools was excellent and a great place for a special occasion dinner. We booked a room with an ocean view, which was beautiful to wake up to each morning, and club access. I would say the rooms could definitely use a renovation soon, especially on the carpets which seem a little dated. Bathrooms, however were in great shape. The club was a nice touch, with continental breakfast, snacks, and evening cocktails at a $5 surcharge. While a few aspects of the hotel seemed a bit dated, the location, facilities, amenities and hospitality more than made up for it and made for a very memorable stay.
Luxury at its finest???
This is a fabulous hotel with wonderful activities, beautiful grounds, and a luxurious pool. The rooms are of generous size and the beds very comfortable. However, Poipu is short of dinner reservations unless they are made well in advance and the hotel is no exception to this rule. If you want to eat, be sure you schedule this well in advance.
A fairytale stay
When me and my wife checked in to start our honeymoon she was in awe from the views from the lobby and the room. The variety of pools to the man made lagoon. Excellent dinning choices and the grand club! Highly recommend the Laua there As well. We didn’t want to leave to travel to Maui!
