Greening Your Life: Part of the Apple Vacations Greening Your Life initiative, this property uses 100% of its green waste for compost and also sends wet waste from kitchens to pig farmers for feed, which helps to reduce landfill waste considerably. Waste cooking oil is collected and processed into biodiesel fuel, while the 4,000 sq. foot on-site hydroponics farm supplies the resort's restaurants and events with approximately 120lbs. of fresh produce per week.
Landscaping is tended to with biological pest controls over harsh chemical options.
The property also utilizes heat produced by the air-conditioning system by converting the output into heat water for guestrooms and swimming pools. On top of that, nearly 60,000 sq. ft. of grass-covered roofing helps to reduce cooling needs. Guests can also enjoy cashmere-soft robes, which are made from 100% recycled bottles.

Customer Ratings & Reviews

We found cockroaches in our room the last night we were there.
Horrible experience. Upon checking in we paid for an ocean view however we received the farthest thing from it. We had a corner room in which the ocean was only visible if we put our head over the balcony. We called the front desk and explained our issue, explained that we were there for our anniversary. The manager simply put us in a room a bit closer but on the lowest floor right near the twice a week luau which we heard in its entirety every night. The last night we were there we discovered 3 cockroaches in our room. The whole floor had a horrid smell to it and the facility overall was run down. The grounds were beautiful but the hotel was horrid.
Beautiful (huge) property has enough room & features for both kids & adults. Buildings & grounds are like a palace. Great location for south shore activities. Excellent service, outstanding amenities: food & drinks (variety of sources on site), wonderful spa, lazy river pool & salt water lagoon. Will return again when we can.
Dated, Dirty and Needs Rennovation
Large, impersonal and in need of not only a good cleaning, but an update. The rooms feel old and dated. Baseboards are moldy. Bathrooms feel unclean. Towels, sheets, mattresses and pillows are cheap. For the money, they need to upgrade their soft product in a huge way. There's no excuse. It's shocking that people find this property impressive at these prices. This is no Four Seasons, Mandarin or Ritz. It's the worst version of a Grand Hyatt. The landscaping is nice and it fools guests into thinking the rest is great. Kauai gets away with this because competition is weak and there's no new high end hotels setting a true standard. Service here is hit or miss. It took 45 minutes to get something simple delivered to the room.
We love the saltwater lagoon
Our family enjoyed a great stay at the Hyatt a few weeks ago. The staff was overall helpful and kind, room was clean, grounds were beautifully kept, and pool area was wonderful. The one drawback is that the beach isn’t ideal for families with children. The waves are rough and the red flag was up the entire duration of our stay. However, the salt water lagoon is excellent and our kids enjoyed playing there for hours instead. Also, the water slide was closed for maintenance during our stay, but the staff brought out an inflatable water slide when it wasn’t too windy, which we appreciated. Food and drinks throughout the resort were pretty good, everyone was able to find something they liked at the breakfast buffet. I can’t remember the name of the restaurant by the koi pond, but we enjoyed good service and a great table by the fish. From the poolside menu, we actually really liked the Kahlua pork nachos. We like to spend part of our vacations at a hotel and part of it at a rental home. This was a great place to spend a few days and I would definitely come back. The pool and saltwater lagoon are the highlight.
Fun time in Kauai
Grand Hyatt captured the beauty of Kauai. Swimming in the many pools and lagoons was a joy. The guest service was excellent and the the overall experience of our first stay in Kauai was great. The Grand Hyatt focus on details was evident.
