    Fabulous four star

Just left a glorious week. This is a solid four star. Beach is a long walk, but lovely. Lots of chairs, space and Colin the beach bartender was a blast! He kept our group of 6 entertained with shots, drinks and great conversation. He really made our time special. Lobby bar morning coffee girls Kimberly and another young girl. Super kind, and by day 2 knew my order! Sports bar same man did 6 days over 13 hour days, this led to him being tired and sometimes cranky. The floor ruiner girls were kind and kept busy! Overall needs more staff but great decor and space. Beach snack bar was great. Always good food. Absolutely best jerk chicken. Sadly on last day wasn’t available. **huge shout out to Delroy at snack bar! Respect. Japanese à la carte was awesome. Our server was a mini dictator, but food was delicious and chef was fun. Ran out of wine. *Italian à la carte disappointing.Buffet is busy but good food for all 3 meals kept Well stocked and maintained. Large spaced out resort, well kept with comfortable rooms. Always had hot water, AC, and clean room? Stayed in 12302 close to elevator so you hear people coming in, and hear the lobby bar. Front desk girls were great. Enjoyed our chats, and help with wifi login.

    Day Pass-Go ANYWHERE else

I went to Jamaica and I wanted just 2 things-a beach and some good food, preferably some jerk chicken. I bought a day pass and was disappointed on both fronts. First of all, it was raining. No fault of the resort of course, but our beach time was very limited. I walked down there and was told by the lifeguard that I could walk on the beach but not enter the water. Didn't miss anything. There was a seawall that kept out the surf and in front of that was the equivalent of a drainage ditch with seaweed growing in the bottom. That was the beach. So much for snorkeling! To get there you had to slog through standing water and a sprinkling of sand on top of rock. Your feet would go all of the way through the sand and standing water like quicksand. After wading through this you would descend a stairway to the beach. Then the buffet. I bought an all-inclusive pass, but I was informed by Yolanda that I was allowed to go to only one of the two buffets. I was informed by others eating that the other buffet wasn't any better, but my "all-inclusive" pass should have covered that anyway. At the one buffet I experienced, the food was horrible. Tuna overcooked to the point of being a hard disc. "Jerk chicken" which I would have passed on at any cafeteria. If this was served at a penitentiary, the inmates would riot. Salt pork, which I believe was un-refrigerated pork shipped in barrels filled with salt from the mainland and cooked in ocean water just to further increase the salinity. Inedible. The "chef", if there was one, clearly had skipped any and all culinary classes, other than perhaps one about cutting food costs. The entertainment was a DJ. I wasn't expecting much more in the afternoon, so I was happy. The pool looked great! I have no idea about the rooms, so I cannot comment on the hotel, other than the lobby was clean but full of people selling excursions, souvenirs, and clothing.

Awesome beach, poor food and entertainment

Its our'sour'ssecond time at this hotel. Although the food choice is poor and there no entertainment we came back for the ocean. The water is warm and clean, great snorkeling.Very safe for children. Perfect family vacation if you like the ocean.

    Not bad, but not great

The Bahia principal is probably the largest hotel in Jamaica. It is a huge place with guests from Canada the USA the UK and indeed all over the world. I have been to hotels all over Europe and for my first visit to Jamaica this was so poor. There is an attitude problem at this hotel and in my humble opinion the left arm doesn't know what the right arm is doing. Noisy, noisy, noisy with cleaning staff screaming and shouting at each other in total oblivion to hotel guests. This was the first time any person in the world has ever said "respect mon" for giving them a tip. The Tipping mentality is dreadful and on one trip to the dunns River falls and nine mile I spent around about 100 dollars just on tips to a plethora of circling vultures. The hotel has a mixed success with food and to be honest the culinary experience in the jasmine buffet is reasonable good. The so called "A la carte resteraunts" are however fake. It was rated 5 star by my holiday company TUI but this is a 3 star Butlins in the sun at best. . Room cleaning was sporadic and so we needed to prompt the cleaning staff now and again. At the hotel you can buy any drug you want on the beach including class A. You have to bare in mind that many children are here. The drug dealers are nice guys however and don't push too hard, not with me at least. (only making a living right) The Americans are noisy with the Canadians the more Conservative version but you get for what you pay and I ate and drank plenty and the sun was nice. The style and sophistication is missing but for a nice cheap holiday in Jamaica, then go for it.
