First time at dreams tulum
Amazing trip to bring the kids on. My kids are 7 and 9, the variety of food for them was perfect. Kids club was amazing. My kids loved it. Pools were big enough so you could relax or party depending on your mood. Do tip, you will get bett service and they deserve it. They work really hard to make sure you're happy. Spend the money to do Xel Ha, it's an amazing experience and day trip. We avoided any sales pitch at the resort and read enough reviews ahead of time to know where they try to upsell you. The beach was a little rocky and yes there is some sea grass that washes up, but I think other reviews make it seem way worse than it is. I was in bare feet the whole time with no issues. Join in the daily activities or find a quiet place to relax, they have both. Our faviorate dinner spots were seaside grill and the italian place. Lunch and breakfast were a little more limited, but still managed to find something that was good tasting and different every day of our 7 day stay. Would I come back? YES!!!! Especially if you have kids between the ages of 3 and 13. Perfect place to bring them for a safe and fun packed vacation
Great family vacation
We loved our time at Dreams Tulum! The staff was so friendly and nice, our 8 year old daughter absolutely loved the Kids Club (I was surprised)! The pools were great, the activities were nice, the food overall was good. The gluten-free options are limited at the buffet and the Italian restaurant, but we loved the sushi restaurant and the pan-Asian restaurant. The Sea Side Grille was also amazing at offering gluten free things. I loved the salads and the fruits and vegetables. The beach isn't the greatest for swimming in - there is a protected coral reef on site so the swim area is small and there is a lot of seaweed on the shore. If you go to Xel-Ha (a 10 minute cab ride from the resort), the snorkelling is amazing and it's worth going there. It was one of the best resort vacations I've had with my family. I also appreciate the eco-friendliness - they did not use disposable plastics as cups, even at the pool. It was nice not to see so much single use plastic waste. One word of advice - unless you are desperate for a free car rental / tickets to Xel-Ha / $100 USD, I would decline the "breakfast and tour" they offer on the first morning. We declined and they said we could "still be friends." They were still nice to us. However, others who took the breakfast and tour suffered for more than 3.5 hours in a presentation, which is a terrible way to start a vacation.
Transfer from original booking
We originally book at the Dream vista Cancún that was supposed to be ready in November and our booking was for January 2 for two weeks. We got transfer our booking to this hotel since the Dream vista is going to open in March. The place is very big despite the 300 rooms. Your in the jungle and the is lots of animals like iguanas going around which we loved and our kids as well. The explorer club for kids it’s amazing. My 7 year old Anaya and my 3 years old Anaïs loved the place. Christal, Yuli, Yeni, Gaby and Yitzel are extremely caring with the kids. They do plenty of activities durant the whole day (open 9am till 10pm). You have the week schedule (water volley, hot potato, making Mexican toy, piñata, treasure hunt, exploring the hotel to look for the animal ect) they even take them for lunch and Dinner if you wish. They call you on your cell phone if your child wants you to pick them up. My daughters did not want to leave. The entertainment team was amazing as well. Very well organized. Ricki is a very good entertainer! Leo is not left behind! Very good shows. The seaside grill is very very good (have the octopus is amazing)! The sushi restaurant is delicious but they only have one waiter and we had a terrible service. My kids wanted more and I had to go speak to the manager since the waiter never came to see if we wanted something more or to fill our glasses of water, wine...the work cafe wich is the buffet was ok, for a 5 star hotel, they should have more healthy food, less fried food, less sauce, less salt. I was expecting fresh ceviche but the only had it in sauces (red tomato or green) I was expecting more authentic Mexican food. The Mexican night they had Churros from 6:30 till 7:30 because they did not have more...we were there two weeks, never saw churros. I Being to a few Dreams and I was a little disappointed of this one. We complain about the room (junior suite ocean view) being small (2 adults, 2 children) the manager told us that the hotel was full for the week end but Monday will call us to change, never had a call in the two weeks we were there. I did not event bother because I’m the customer and I should not go back at you for a matter that you already know! Customer service is super important specially when you pay over 12000$ for two weeks, two rooms since we had my mother in law with us in another room two. She was not happy either with her room since it was right beside the kitchen of the Mexican food and heat all the noise. The mexican restaurent was very good but again, no Mexican dessert! The drinks are not very good either at the pool or at the peach or in the restaurant. The only good drink I had was at the reception bar. The lounge chair around the pool with the dauphin and the beach need to be change. Alors of broken ones. Go to the rectangular pool much better and more relax. Be carful when you buy stuff in the boutique or when they have the people that come sell there stuff at the hotel. Did not count my exchange right and paid 120$ for 4 little turtle in glass for my daughter. I paid in pesos....the room at night was never done (change of towel, chocolate on the pillow and water) even if I mentioned with the concierge. Overall will recommend for couples with children for the explorer club if you have a good deal and for the jungle feel of the place. The hotel rooms needs renovation and the breach have lots of rock wish is not superbe to go in the water even if they made a little corridor were you can go in! Unfortunately, we were disappointed overall with the facility, the food, the rooms and the service from concierge and management. Service at the restaurant (not the sushi because of missing staff) at the pool, beach, spa and kids club we are very satisfied!
Not for peace and quiet
My chief complaint is that there was no public area that did not have amplified music going. If you were anywhere near the beach you'd hear the thumping of the dj at the pool. If you went to play shuffle board or table tennis, there was music there as well competing against the dj at the beach some 100 yards away. Walk through the beautiful gardens and you'd get a different selection coming from speakers hidden among the plants. I had a room about halfway between the main building and the beach and even a daytime nap in my room was impossible due to the beach party music. What gives? I'd like to sit at the beach and hear the surf, birds, and laughter of kids as they play. I don't want the sophmoric soundtrack of some cruise ship during spring break. Whoo-hoo!!! Aint we got fun??? The place was very clean and the staff provided excellent service. Average food, but the noise pollution would keep me from going there again.
Dreams Tulum resort experience
We were at Dreams last week. Very nice resort, very clean, AND great food (exceptional). This was our second time there. As UVC AMresort members, we decided to return, because we really enjoy Tulum. And we can't say enough good things about ALL of the staff members. Outstanding experience. Lots to do in and outside of the resort.
