My husband and I are repeaters at this amazing hotel. Wonderful, kind and thoughtful staff, beautiful grounds and spectacular reef snorkeling right from the shore are some of the amenities that keep us coming back. The spa is superb and we enjoy the thoughtful attention that we receive from Midori while waiting for an expert relaxing message. The entertainment is of good quality and run by an amazing team! The resort is fabulous from the moment we arrive and are greeted by Kiki until our holiday is sadly over.
So this was my first trip down south to an all inclusive. We came down to celebrate a 40th for my cousin. Service was excellent. Special thank you to David, Miguel, Maria(bar keeper), Jose Antonio, Myumis, LLilian (Jillian), Noralis (bar keeper at the beach restaurant) Food was great. Lots of variety very tasteful. The restaurants were awesome. Entertainment was great a show every night. No real night life unless you go to Matanza, Havana or Veradero which are all near by. The hotel is not modern but I love that feature. Small resort and even when it's full it's not overwhelming busy. Locals are very friendly and not pushy. Had a great time and would definitely come back. Thank you to David and his team.
Loved our latest visit - Dec. 23, 2019 to January 3rd, 2020
As per usual we had a great time at Memories Jibacoa and it was great to see the staff! The food was very good - they did a good job for the Holidays. We had a very relaxing massage at Zen Spa, went to Havana and did lots of snorkeling right from the beach.
Beautiful setting for a holiday
I have just returned for my stay in the Memories hotel in Jibacoa, Cuba ... A beautiful setting , with a lovely coloniel feel to the hotel...I don't like high rise, big hotels, so this was perfect for me ...blue ocean just a short walk from my room, with tropical, lush hills behind the hotel, palm trees every where blowing in the breeze ...gardeners work hard to keep everywhere tidy , pulling down ripe coconuts incase they fall on people, then offering the fresh coconuts , with a straw to guests along the beach to drink the delicious milk...nice touch ! 2 really friendly staff based on the beach, offer snorkels, flippers,to swim along the coral reef to see the various types fish, use of a pedlow, canoes and a trips out on the sea in a small sail boat with a skipper ...that was so wonderful to bob along on the waves looking back on the shore, seeing the hotel and the beautiful mountains.. The staff are really friendly and service is good , you feel relaxed and chilled in this beautiful setting .I really enjoyed the pina coladas, from the various bars, on the beach and in the piano bar etc. Musicians played in the evenings while you had dinner in the restaurant or on the lovely balcony , the Saxophone player was brilliant! Then different shows on later, on the outdoor stage or in the club, gave you entertainment in the evenings . Be aware that everywhere in Cuba you have to pay for use of Wi-Fi, as I need to check emails at least once a day for work, and the signal was better in the main reception area, 5 hours behind uk, I was often sitting in the coffee area dealing with emails during the day . The hotel is a little tired , and sometimes the buffet is lacking in variety and quality , but the staff do their best ! We did have a smelly drain in our bathroom , which gave the room a very un pleasant smell , we had to report it a few times as the smell kept coming back ! William our Tui rep was so helpful, and went out of his way a few times to get it delt with asap , and came to our room to check on it too, he was excellent .. Along with William dealing with the smell in our room , KiKi from guest services, was made aware of the problem with the smelly drain, and was also really helpful and apologies made with a complimentary bottle of fizzy bought to our room along with champagne flutes , which was a really nice touch ...we were offered another room , but as we were right by the pool , they couldn't guarantee such a good location if we moved , so we stayed put . Kiki went out of his way during the rest of our stay to ask how we were , and was everything ok...such a genuine, nice guy! The beach and the views at this hotel were just wonderful ...
We were there the last few days of November and the first couple of days in December and the weather fully co-operated making for a very good stay. The snorkeling off the beach is very good by Caribbean standards with there even being some types of coral that have been decimated in other Caribbean areas. There were 3 days when the red flag was up at the beach by about noon due to Portugese man-of-war. Be sure to get in the water as early as you can or at least by mid-morning to avoid the red flag situation. Food was good and plentiful with there always being dishes with fish, chicken, pork and beef at every lunch and supper buffet. What really sets this resort apart are its location between the ocean and the (small) mountains and also the staff. There is a real team effort on the part of the staff and they all appear to be happy to be part of the team. Too many staff names to mention them all but a special mention to Dailin who consistently kept the room in tip-top shape. We will definitely be returning.
