    Ac didn’t work

Was told by the front desk, someone would be over in 15 minutes to fix the air conditioning...3 days later someone finally showed up at 11pm. Our room also had ants, and I told the front desk, and yet again. No one showed up to fix the problem!

    Great Vacation Spot

We stayed here for our Honeymoon in June 2019. It was a beautiful resort, and we had a great time. Overall, the staff was very friendly and helpful. We did a tour with a local guy on the beach instead of -one of the full day trips that were available through the resort. It was awesome and we were able to see and support local business. One down side for us was that since this was a family friendly resort, the night life was not very lively. If that's what you're looking for, I would look into another resort. Instead, if you're looking for it to be calm and relaxing, there's a hydrotherapy circuit that you can use at the spa for only $35 for the day. In my opinion, it would be completely worth it.

    Loved it here!

Loved staying at the Dreams in Las Mareas. We just got back yesterday. Very beautiful grounds! The pool was a big hit for the kids, the beach was great as well. So much wildlife around, making it extra special. I’m so happy we went during “wet season”, everything was green and lush. This is our second Dreams resort and we are pleased with the majority of our experience. Some of my only cons are the organization of checking in and out with little help on having questions answered. The room was great and exactly what we’d asked for, only downfall was our balcony jacuzzi didn’t work. That was a bummer. Loved the staff, friendly but it’s make obviouse it’s a “job”. Drinks were great, however disappointed that they liquor was so watered down outside the Preferred lounge. Restaurants offered a ton of variety. portofino was great and the hibachi was on point. Not super organized and could be better in that realm. Overall, highly recommend and we had an absolute blast. I wouldn’t be opposed to coming back in the future!

    Where do I start???

OK...I'm in my room on my last day here at Dreams Las Mareas in Costa Rica. I traveled here with friends for my annual birthday trip. The resort's grounds are beautiful. I generally stay in Preferred Club Ocean View suites but I opted for Tropical View this time based on previous reviews. My friends chose the basic junior suite. Their view was actually better than mine. The tropical view I have is basically a tree. My room itself is beautiful and had everything I could ever need. The shower was a little cumbersome for me but not a major issue. One of my friends has not had a working shower since we arrived. The first day was ice cold. The rest have been scalding hot. Her requests for repairs have simply been ignored. You are supposed to be able to make calls to the US, however, my phone has not been able to dial out. My attempts to get help have also been filed away in the same folder as my friend's. Though you see areas marked Ice... Don't be fooled like me and go from floor in heat and humidity trying to get a non-functioning machine to work. You have to request ice through room service so I'm not sure why these decoy ice machines are planted in the building. The service here otherwise has been amazing. The food at the restaurants is spectacular. The bartenders are fabulous. We actually found our favorite bartender at the poolside bar named Aleudy. We noticed people asking him when he worked again and where he would be and quickly found out why. Regardless of how busy it got, he remained attentive to every guest and always wore a smile. Additionally, his drinks were delicious. Sooo... Here ends another birthday trip. Would I come back to this resort? Probably not. Would I recommend the resort to others? Yes but with warnings of our bad experiences.

    Very Nice Resort

My family (my wife and I plus 3 kids: 17, 15, and 11) just came back from a week's vacation in Costa Rica where we stayed at Dreams Las Mareas. Property - Property is very new and lush. It's built between green hills and a calm beach and very well laid out. Multiple pools, with continuous service around the pool. You will see some wild animals including Iguanas, Monkeys, and Raccoons within the property which is very interesting and fun! Service - I found the people and the service to be very friendly. I saw some of the negative reviews about customer service and disagree. Everyone was smiling and everyone was trying to help as much as they could. Rooms - Rooms are large, well designed and comfortable. I wouldn't get the rooms within the main building as the noise of the shows could be too much. Bathrooms are a good size and with good amenities. There's also a well kept mini fridge and good snacks in the rooms. Food - There are 5-6 restaurants in the property as well as room service. We tried all of them and the food was good all around. Quantity and quality were both above average and you could order as much or as little as you'd like. I'd recommend trying the Steak and seafood restaurants at night, as they're both superb. Drinks - drinks are all around, but the quality of the alcohol is truly low-shelf. There are some mid-shelf items around (Bacardi Rum, Jose Cuervo Tequila, etc.) which you could ask for. For better quality drinks, you'd need to upgrade to a different class which costs about $50-$100/day/room which might not be worth it. Activities - Typical of any resort, there are activities from 8 am to 10 pm and all activities are included except for the spa (too expensive). We loved pool volleyball (Thank you Jeffrey for making it fun!) and the sunset kayaking trip with Mauricio. Beach - Beach is lovely and calm. Good place to sit down and relax. Remember that you're in the middle of a wild area - so be careful in the water. Lots of activities on the beach such as massage, jet skis, and boats. Entertainment - This is the low point of the property. There's entertainment every night, but only between 8:30 and 10. Decent shows, but short. I'd have expected longer shows till at least 11. There's a dance club and a bar. Teen Programs - Besides sports/pool activities, there's a teen club at the resort which i don't think anyone uses. My teen-aged kids looked at it and walked away. I think it'd be a lot of fun if they had teen-focused activities throughout the day. Location - This is the only issue with the property: It is a 90 minute drive from Liberia towards the Nicaraguan border. There are no big towns near by. If you plan to go to Arenal Volcano and Rain forest (a must see), you will have to drive 4-5 hours each way - and might as well stay there as the excursion is just too long for one day. Sorry for the long review, but wanted to make sure to have covered everything.
