The hotel so far has been really good from the rooms to the drinks, fitness. They offer a lot of different activities from day to night and they also have fitness activities at the beach like the Spartan challenge which was awesome with Carlota and Geronimo.

Loud mouth staff on microphone and very loud music
This is a really good place but spoiled by the ANIMATION TEAM who love the sound of their own voices. They not only shout at us clients when they are using a microphone, they also use the microphone when talking to someone 2 feet away asking them to take part in an event. It is not only annoying and unnecessary it is also impolite and rude. Bear in mind not everyone wants to take part, in fact around 90% plus just want to relax, judging by the few that show any interest. In addition they constantly turn the music up so that it very loud ( and btw I often go to gigs and I like Muse and Heavy metal). Listen guys you are ruining this place, get a grip. Be polite, not rude. Think of ALL of your clients. Stop shouting on the mike and turn the music down, especially before 11am. I may review the actual hotel later, we will see.
My spouse and I stayed in the star class oceanview suite for 11 days in November 2019. We received outstanding service the whole time we were there. The hotel staff went above and beyond to make our stay as stress free and relaxing. Pablo was our personal agent and he was absolutely the best. He checked in with us regularly and made sure everything was good and we were set for whatever we wanted to do that day. If you are staying in star class ask for Pablo to be your personal agent he is amazing. Hotel food was really good, entertainment and activities were excellent. There was always something to do. We booked three excursions through the hotel and found it reasonable. Hotel had the white faced monkeys and howler monkeys right on the resort highlight of my stay. Only complaint was low season so not all restaurants were open on a daily basis. Plus pool closes too early.
This is my honest opinion. It is long but I give you all around idea without a whole lot of bias from a single bad interaction or gripe that rubbed me the wrong way. Cons: You pay for a 4 star resort but it disappoints. This place is huge and on a hill so prepare to walk up and down from your room to the pool. There are golf cart shuttles but they take a while to request and arrive each time. There is not a beach to relax and swim in, so do not have that expectation. Your time will really only be spent by the pool and there isn’t much to do at this location beside take hour long road trips out of the resort to Tamarindo or the adventure park where there is zip lining and hot springs if you are into that. Speaking of the pool, it is just a rectangle without much to do but float. You can’t even relax with the extremely LOUD party music bumping from 10am to 6pm. I’m not joking it is too much. Top 40 pop would be fine at a reasonable volume but I can’t even think with this club music blasting in broad daylight. They do exercise classes and games in the main pool so you are at their mercy even if you don’t want to be there. They scream and turn the music up. Taking a nap? No you ain’t! I just recommend staying in Tamarindo if you want more beach and excitement. They have surfing, restaurants, an actual beautiful beach to lie down at, waves, and more scenery. Much better for the younger crowd. And if it bothers you, the decorations are plain tacky. Should have figured with the name Planet Hollywood. Pros: That was a lot of cons and honestly I think this place deserves it. Such a strange direction to go with a resort. I feel like they want to make this place a party resort like Ibiza or Miami but it just falls short in so many ways. Now on to what this places does a decent job at. The food is pretty dang alright. The buffet is a buffet like any other but with a few gems that were pretty good not gonna lie. The sushi place was terrible though lol The staff is some of the nicest and accommodating I have ever had the pleasure to interact with. Beside the uncomfortable exchange of a forced 5 star review which I deleted to write this. My guess as to why there so many 5 star reviews for this place. The rooms are nice and spacious but not very isolated to noise. The mini bar and room service is included in the all inclusive package. Don’t get star class either. Not really a worthwhile perk beside making dinner reservations within the resort. TL;DR Imagine a place that actually calls itself Planet Hollywood and there you have it. This place is a fever dream. Staff, rooms, and food is pretty good. The relaxing part of vacation was left out. Spend your hard earned vacation somewhere else. I was tired of this place after the first day.
