Food quality was way less than average. Guy’s burger joint was the only good food. Wine selection was horrible. Drinks seemed very water downed. Rooms were very clean. Toilet / bathroom set up was strange. Very convenient to marina but if you are not fishing I see no reason to stay at this hotel. Lots of hills so you have to take golf cart service almost every where. Hard to get a dinner reservation. Star credits are a joke.
Overrated and overpriced.
My wife and I stayed here 4 nights starting September 15th to celebrate our 21st anniversary. The hotel is a beautiful property but the way it is run tells me to shout out “Don’t Stay Here”. It is an all-inclusive Resort but there seems to be a catch, which is, they have a program whereby if you pay extra to join their “Star Club” you can be treated like a star. There are five or six different restaurants but be lucky if you have more than two open for dinner on any given night. We were told that items from the ones closed would be available to us (I guess you have to know the name of what you want because it will not be on your menu). Because paying over $300 a night doesn’t qualify you for the star treatment when you go to the steakhouse you are given a beeper and told to wait at least an hour even though there are empty tables (guess that is for the fools that pay extra). Shouldn’t all guests be pampered? Not here. The food is average. They must have paid off someone to get the 4 star rating. Don’t expect to see a lot of movie memorabilia either unless 10 or 11 outfits from various movies is a lot for you. Except for a very loud drinking contest held at the pool involving 6 or 7 guest you must again pay to be pampered like a star but the you only get invited to a separate buffet dinner. Stay away from this property, go to one that values every guest the same.
We visited Planet Hollywood as a couples get away. It was one of the nicest resorts we've been to in a while. Food was delicious and the drinks were perfect. They offer kayaking and paddleboarding for free. There is usually a dj playing by the pool along with other entertainment during the day. The rooms were clean and very modern. I'd definitely recommend this place to anyone looking to visit Costa Rica.
I work in travel so I travel a lot and I was quite impressed with this hotel. I stayed at 3 different all inclusive hotels on my trip and this was my favorite. They truly make you feel like a star. The food was fantastic for an all inclusive hotel, entertainment was the best I have seen at an all inclusive hotel in Costa Rica too. The staff was just all too willing to help for anything and everything you need. The Star class is definitely worth it and their spa is pricey but phenomenal. We did see monkeys on site too which was a nice plus. I went for my birthday and they were sure to make me feel special. There is music at the pool all day and it is a bit cheesy hotel (but that is part of the fun) so you do want to be sure that is what you are looking for. If you are looking for somewhere with lots going on, this is a great spot for you. If you want a quiet and relaxing trip, it might be better for something smaller. Overall I was super impressed and had a great time.
Me and my wife had traveled here as our final stop in Costa Rica for four days. The service and rooms were unbelievable. My ONLY complaint was the food. I suppose I should have expected it to be the quality it was for an all-inclusive resort, but I was a little disappointed nonetheless. Cecene the bartender was the highlight of the trip for me as I frequented the bar. Side Note: Planet Hollwood PLEASE allow your bellhop's to wear short sleeve shirts at the minimal. I almost had a heat stroke myself watching these poor employees lug around people's luggage in upward of 95 degree weather!
