Caravan Tours chosen; Great relaxing break!
This Westin is located at a quiet area but very close to Panama City. I must commend Edgard Salazar and Jose Luis Morales for being so helpful at checkin. You can get a garden view room , which are gorgeous! If you prefer a balcony and looking out to see the ships awaiting to enter the Panama Canal, request an ocean view room. If you happen to be there during weekend dates or other large gatherings, request a higher floor for additional distance of possible pool side events. The food was great, service staff at times were very busy especially on Saturday mornings. It’s unique to see how the tide recedes and leaves the volcanic rocks exposed. We had an all inclusive package so it was nice not to think about the cost, though all inclusive is only for the buffet restaurant. For the a la carte restaurant it’s extra. Overall it was relaxing from everyday touring schedule and a great location!
Great option while in Panama City
Our family wanted to have a resort like atmosphere while visiting Panama City. About 15-20 minutes from Old Town and easily accessible by Uber (much cheaper than a taxi), the hotel was great. If you are looking for a beautiful beach, you will be disappointed, but the various pools and palm trees were relaxing and enjoyable. The Pacific side of the country does not have the crystal clear waters like the Caribbean side. Staff was great and I would recommend staying on one of the Bonvoy (concierge level) floors where breakfast and cocktails/appetizers are included. Ricardo Tejada provided excellent service at the bellhop station and Astrid at the concierge desk made all of our dinner reservations.
Westin Club Staff fantastic!!!!
Perfect start of the year, comfortable rooms, clean areas, excellent service and beautiful view from my room. Welcome amenities and very good attention. I will definitely return for the friendliness of the staff. Although everyone does not know the language they find a way to make conversation and always smile. Those are very kind. We bought access to the Westin Club to meet and we fell in love with the friendly and dedicated attention of its staff. I thank Astrid, Alejandra Erika who always welcomed us with a warm smile, varied food and Happy Hour definitely for people like them we will return. We also thank Soraya, Geraldine and Maximo for their attention.
My family and I just came back from staying at the Westin Playa Bonita for 1 week and had an amazing trip. The hotel has everything you need. What stood out for me the most was their restaurant buffet. Each item on the buffet is clearly marked for any allergens. They have a chart that indicate whether it's gluten free, dairy free, seafood, nuts....It's a dream come true for someone who is celiac like myself. Each item is clearly marked and I had no problem eating. The staff at the restaurant were so professional and kind especially- Jihnno, Carolina and Jessica. Thank you for making our trip so memorable.
DONT TRAVEL HERE WITH SUNWING
We have been travelling to various Caribbean destinations for the past 12 years. This is a beautiful Hotel, caters to large Corporate Groups and from the people i spoke to who visited for that purpose, their EXPERIENCE WAS VERY GOOD or BETTER. ALL INCLUSIVE with SUNWING --- a VERY BAD EXPERIENCE. FOOD = Breakfast was adequate. A La Carte restaturants were hit and miss, ordered Filet Mignon Medium Rare which was cut in half for easier cooking and ended up Medium Well. PRAWNS served at Buffet - cooked to order, were Delicious, but a few were raw, may have been reason my wife got sick the same evening. BUFFET --- if they aren't actually recycling the food, it sure seemed that way. SNACK BAR Poolside --- same burgers/hotdogs/nachos and undercooked pizza each day. Guacamole was frozen, DIps and Sauces left out in heat for hours at a time. FOOD WAS ALWAYS VERY SALTY --- perhaps to make up for poor quality. BEEF was always tough no matter how it was prepared. BEACH ---- for guests who like to swim and value the quality of BEACH, this property is an EPIC FAIL. The Tide is active and at Low Tide, there is literally 100 yards + of rocks that get revealed, making it not possible to swim. Take advantage of the few hours when TIDE is High as that's the only time you can swim comfortably. SIGNS are posted that STING RAYS are present in the waters nearby. Never saw a lifeguard in 7 days. SERVICE --- not a slight against the staff who were generally very nice. However the Pool servers did not speak English at all and made for difficulty when ordering drinks. Minimal ENTERTAINMENT--- the hotel claims they tend to focus on relaxation. Some nights there were live performers in the lobby bar and some Karaoke done in the poolside bar. SUNWING REP - ANGELICA SANCHEZ -- She hung up on men when i complained about getting our bracelets cut off at check out when we still had 3 hours before our shuttle bus left. First time that a resort didn't honor an all inclusive until the end of our stay
