Well Kept Property - Great stay!

Enjoyed our stay here. This is a large, well kept, immaculate, beachfront resort that is only a short (~5 minutes) Uber ride to the city center and restaurants. I’ve read many reviews that commented on the beach but if you understand how the Panama Canal works, you will understand why the water recedes (this occurs daily and at a specific time). Do not let this deter you! This is a Marriott property, and given our status, our room was upgraded to a huge ocean view suite with living room and 2 balconies. The view is beautiful. Beds comfortable. It is obvious it is an older property, but as mentioned earlier, it is very well kept and maintained. The breakfast buffet has many hot and cold options. There is an omelette station for made to order requests. The bar serves great drinks. I did not eat at any of the other restaurants so I can’t comment on that. The service was, top-notch, welcoming, and professional. I would stay here again.

    Delightful experience!

This is our second time to The Westin Playa Bonita in Panama and this time we stayed for 4 nights. We met Miguel Hilbert as he was our pool waiter. Daily he met us and knew us by name. He has my wife’s drink ready once she arrived to the pool. His respect and professionalism represents the Westin family of hotels and the Panamanian people with the upmost manner. This shows great honor to his delivery of a delightful experience. Thank you Miguel for making our trip wonderful! Gooch Family Texas, USA

    Westin July 2024

The Westin was not busy and is not the place to go if you are looking for a lively, party life environment. We really enjoyed the calmness of staying there as we were not looking for that scene. The buffet was okay but left a lot to be desired. I have stayed at many all inclusive resorts but this was the first one that we were unsure on what to eat with breakfast. As for lunch we loved the burgers and pizza at the a la carte restaurant (also turns into starfish at night). The steakhouse had good steak and amazing chicken. We really enjoyed the Asian restaurant. Every restaurant is not open every night. As for the pools, we mainly went in the big pool. Parts of the pool was dirty from the trees overhead and the part where the water flows out could use some cleaning. There are some activities at the other pool such as water aerobics and volleyball. The pool bar was open sometimes and other times it was closed with only the bar by the activity pool being open. Our room was maintained okay but not what you would expect. The sink wasn’t cleaned when we checked in. We had to call to have our room cleaned because we were out of towels and no one had come in two days. Then we had to request toilet paper. They made the bed but did not actually clean the room. The beach is not a swimmable beach if you are looking for that. The tides are really intriguing with the amount they go out and come in daily. All of the bartenders were great and made really good drinks. There is a ton of possibility for this resort to make it better and it certainly has the space to do so.

    Let down, from last year.

There appeared to be change from last year to this year. I am a U.S. Army disabled veteran, and I certified schoolteacher from Atlanta, GA My wife and I came here last year at this time to celebrate our 5th wedding anniversary. WE LOVED IT! The place was clean, staff was friendly and the view from our room was spectacular. So we decided to come back this year for our 6th wedding anniversary. DISSAPOINTMENT. We had to pay $70.00 extra this time to book a room with a view (we didn't have to do that last year) our balcony was not clean, it had dead bugs all over the place, the pools looked like they haven't been cleaned, there were leaves and dead bugs floating in the water, the refrigerator was broke, and I was told that we had to pay $25 per night to have a DAMNED MICROWAVE oven in the room. We went to Charleston SC, on Spring Break, and stayed at an upscaled Best Western. The microwave was included with the room. I will not be returning to this hotel for our 7th Wedding anniversary.

Maximo at the Westin Playa Bonita!!!

The resort itself was lovely. We were there during the “slow season” and it was very tranquil… almost eerily so. The resort is very clean, and the staff was very attentive. We had the premium all inclusive package and wanted for nothing… we had specialty cocktails, specialty coffees, ala carte dining and of course the buffets. The food was good… nothing to complain about but also, nothing fantastic. Now, let me introduce you to Maximo. Maximo speaks very little English but knew all of our names (and our drinks) and always made us feel special. We’ve had a wonderful vacation and met some amazingly friendly Panamanians, but Maximo wins the prize. GRACIAS Señor Maximo Rivera en el Westin Playa Bonita Panama Hotel, ¡¡¡hizo nuestro viaje PANAMAZING!!!
