We had a great time. Love Jamaica. The resort and area are excellent. The food and drinks were tasty. The staff were caring and made sure we were happy. It was our second time and we will be going back.
Far from 5 Star and some drug dealing staff
We were fortunate enough to be taken here as a group of 11 by my inlaws for their 50th Anniversary. We had looked at the pictures and eagerly anticipated the 7 days of bliss we were hanging out for. There were a lot of 5 star reviews on TripAdvisor, however most of them written by people with only one or two reviews against their profile, look deeper into the experienced reviewers to see the real reviews. Check in, went well, staff were really good on the afternoon of the 6th Jan. We were taken to the rooms by the bell staff on a golf buggy. They took are of the bags etc. There are no lifts in the villas, we had villa 29 near the adult pool. Room was well presented, bathroom showed signs of age, tiles and paint work need attention. We ate at the Mexican the first night which was good despite a wait. The next morning it became clear that this resort needs some love and attention. The place is just tatty and tired in many areas walkways were in dire need of painting, rusty metal and rotten posts. The wooden walkway down to the main pool on the Lady Palladium side was alos rotten and broken. I could go on and on about the swimming pools with broken and missing tiles but you get the point. If you are used to high end 5 Star this place falls well short. Food overall was good, albeit the wait times for the restaurants were excessive. The usual answer would be there are 15 tables ahead of you....this was despite seeing empty tables in the restaurants. Now, drugs, with us we had my 18 year old son who was offered the chance to buy weed (cannabis) on six different occasions by the staff in blue t shirts at Sunset Cove. Also with us was my sister in law who was also offered it by the same staff. I reported this to security who seemed to take a genuie interest. Then the clincher was being sat by the main pool watching a lifeguard openly deal a small package to a female guest, he place the package in one hand and recived money in the other. My 14 year old son also watched this transaction and come over and asked me if I'd seen it!! I've been a police officer since 1996, I was pretty shocked that this was openly taking place at what is billed as a 5 Star Resort. The lifeguard hut always smelt of cannabis in the general vicinity. The security guy told me its legal to possess in Jamaica. A suggestion for the Palladium Management team, ban it from the grounds to everyone including guests. Simple. My advice if you intend going with teenagers, keep your eye on them, the minority of staff will prey on them and offer them cannabis to buy. Lastly, special mention to Michelle at the beer hut, this girl travels two hours each way on the bus to come to work, management, look after her in my opinion. This place gets 3 out of 5 because the majority of staff were great and food on the whole good. Needs a lot of work and maybe fresh management eyes.
Worst birthday trip ever!
My bestfriend and I are currently here celebrating our birthdays. We have been excited and planning for MONTHS only to be disappointed from the moment we walked in. Prior to our arrival we asked about a room upgrade and the resort credit. We were told that it’s upon request and availability. Not only was the resort credit a total joke because its coupons in which they tell you how and when you can actually use the credits. When asking questions, the management staff was rude and unaccommodating. I contacted one of the managers prior to my arrival, so I would know before I go and when I arrived he was rude even when his email stated that he did specify the room upgrade. It was stated in plenty of reviews that they gave them upgrades without it being an anniversary or honeymoon, and to be treated this way is ridiculous. We were told by one receptionist we would be given champagne for our birthday and they stated that they had available oceanview suites only be told by one of the managers that the only thing we can do is change into another suite. This is our first time in Jamaica and scheduled to stay until Sunday. Most definitely won’t be back to this resort and I will be letting my friends and family know not to stay here
Couples Getaway with Family & Friends!
This resort is one of the largest in Jamaica with a gigantic swimming pool. We went with four couples and it was our first trip to Jamaica. We were not disappointed with our trip, resort, restaurants and staff!! We spent most of our days at the large swimming pool with a lot of activities to do. There was a large swim up bar and 2 other bars at both ends of the pool, there was plenty of shade for those who wanted to stay out of the sun and it was never hard to find chairs for all 8 of us. We didn't spend too much time at the beach as their shore line was small and was a little rocky. I'm sure we did not see everything, as this is a huge resort. We usually had breakfast at one of the buffets but for lunch we went to the Sports Bar (which is open 22 hours a day) and had excellent bar food and great service! Dinners were spent at several of the different restaurants that are offered there. My favorite was the Italian restaurant! Our rooms were nice and roomy! The view from our balcony was beautiful. The only complaint I would have is that one member in our group had to wait 4 days to get a new blow dryer. Other than that, everything was great. We did use the spa...thanks to Dianne Waite. Several of us had massages and one person in our group went 3 times for a massage. Dianne is a great addition to the marketing team for the Spa at the Palladium! In our opinion, they are very lucky to have such a sweet, pleasant and friendly employee working for them! The majority of the staff were very friendly and always willing to make our stay amazing. For the exception of one female bartender at the "small" swimming pool (who truly seemed to hate her job), everyone else was amazing! We only did one excursion which was a sunset cruise on a large catamaran. I wasn't too thrilled with this excursion because they attempted to fit over 100 people on this boat and it was extremely crowded and very uncomfortable, which made it hard to find a place to sit. Margaritaville and Rick's Cafe was the highlight of our excursion! We would definitely return!
very good stay...some issues in room quality, otherwise fine....need to fix issues in a timely manner food and drink were very good....good variety of restaurants...customer service was excellent....would come again
