We’re here now. Been here a week 1 more week left. As you can see from my reviews we travel a bit around the world and have stayed in some great places. This is our fourth Bahia. Don’t worry about the poor reviews on here, it’s a decent hotel, the foods great and most of the staff work hard and are very friendly. I read some of the poor reviews and have come to the conclusion that some people enjoy a moan.
Adult only resort not for seniors !!!!!!
Adult only resort does not have one air conditioned restaurant - only one outside restaurant at pool and ocean area and it does not serve breakfast. You have to get to the Family side of the resort to enjoy an air conditioned restaurant and only if you first made a reservation, reservations were not required for the buffet only restaurants. Liquor available on the Family side is not the same as liquor on the Adults only side and you will be charged for ordering the same liquors you are used to on the Adult only side. The golf carts were noted at check in to operate every 10 minutes, they did not, you had to find some resort employee that had a radio to have a golf cart pick you up at one of their noted stops throughout the resort. If you could not get a golf cart pickup , you had a long walk. Room cleaning service was not done until 3:00PM on most days of our stay.
Our Caribbean adventure
Stayed here for 2 weeks June/July with my other half. The hotel itself was lovely and staff were extremely friendly. Food in buffet restaurant was plentiful and with lots of choice. We didn't try all of the a la carte restaurants. Of the ones we did use the only one we didn't enjoy was the Asian restaurant. Hotel is pretty isolated so you really do have to take organised tours if you plan to leave the resort. Residents of this hotel were mostly from USA and Canada. It's helpful to take both US and Jamaican $$ as some places we visited actually dealt in $US. The downsides of our stay were: there were a lot of young people staying and were quite noisy in corridors/playing loud music in their rooms. Our room also had a strong smell of dampness which seemed worse inside the drawers. I therefore had to keep my clothes in the suitcase for the duration of our stay. It wasn't expensive as Caribbean holidays go, so all in all was decent value for money
Where is the luxury?
After suffering a few deaths in my family, I thought the best way to relax and clear my mind for a bit was by visiting a hotel. I stayed at Grand Bahia last year and I had fun but I decided to try the luxury side this time around. I must say that the only Luxury is that fact that it's an adults only hotel. I kept wanting to see the luxury aspect that you had to pay extra for. A robe, slippers and free room service? I must be fair though as the hotel is gorgeous and some of the staff are so amazing. I want to give big props to Shaneese in Customer Relations who went out of her way to get me a reservation at a restuarant that was fully booked. She was amazing. Thank you Shaneese. There is also Larone, Moralyst, Hopeland (HP) and Ricardo who provided exceptional service and as such, they should be recognized. Let's also talk about the inappropriate comments made by some of the male staff. While getting ice cream and mentioning that the ice cream was soft, a male server commented that he knows that I dont like anything soft. What is he insinuating? I was quite taken aback by his comment, shocked even. Another incident happened at the bar where one of my friends went to get a Sex on the beach cocktail at the pool bar and the server said to her 7 PM at the beach. As a Jamaican vacationing in Jamaica, this is quite embarrassing. This is inappropriate behaviour. Dont get me wrong, these few did not spoil my vacation and the ambiance and vibe of the hotel makes you want to stay longer which I ended up doing. There are quite a few things that need to be addressed with the staff but apart from that I would rate my stay a 2.5 out of 5.
The best vacation ever
Stayed at the luxury resort, food was amazing and drinks kept coming. The entertainment team especially Hopelyn were very professional and provided great entertainment like foam party, bingo and aqua fitness. The Jasmin buffet has tons of options for all your culinary needs. Make sure to do the excursions as they are fun and informative especially the dolphin Cove.
