Not a 5 star
A beautiful resort. Beach was small but pretty and relaxing. Lobby bar couldn't make 3 drinks on the menu as requested so beers it was lol. Food was ok. Some days better than others. Had a stomache issue there. Not sure if it was food borne or water borne I still didnt let that ruin my relaxation. Pool area is slippery. Seen people drop. Us and other family members had random late night knocks on our doors and even an entrance at 2am!! That is unacceptable. Definitely not a 5 star resort. Resort is too large for it's own good. Would not recommend Nd would not go back to this resort.
Place needs major renovations. Rooms are so outdated and so are the restaurants. Hotel hallways are dirty, carpets full of stain, dead roaches on the hallways and garbage in elevators for 2 days! None of the employees cared to pick it up or report it. We barely ate as food did not seems or fresh and lacked in flavor. Not great food choices! Look out for dirty cups, plates and utensils. Only restaurant worth trying is Dolce Vita. Food was decent and Andre, our server, was AMAZING! Overheard employees at the hotel bar making inappropriate comments to the guests. In addition, employees non-stop recruiting for Bahia Privilege Club! Seriously got stopped 3xs on my way to beach, lunch, etc.. We had to change our routes to avoid bumping into them. This is after we expressed to them that we are not interested in membership. Understand they’re doing their job but hotel should have them step back and let guests enjoy their stay without being borderline harassed every day! Bahia Principe Tours, what a mess? We booked 3 excursions, our driver didn't have any of our info, names, room #, etc.. One of the tour driver made us get out of the bus as he said we were in the wrong tour. He ended up coming back to pick us up as we were in the RIGHT tour but the hotel staff failed to give him our information. Spa staff are nice and massage is good but unfortunately we will not be returning, this is nowhere near being a 5 star hotel. Think of it more like a 2.5 or 3 star.
Khadijah the butler provided a great experience at the luxury bahia principe! All of our requests were met with a smile and I felt totally comfortable at this resort!! Our stay was a wonderful stress free experience. Looking to our next stay with these lovely people. :)
Best Jamaica Resort Value
We have been going to Jamaican all inclusive resorts for over 30 years and this resort was a "steal" at the rate we got. Now, we did book just a month before arrival, October is "low season", got a "non-refundable" price, and booked their cheapest rooms, etc.; but for $206 (total) a night it was one heck of a deal. We booked it again for next October 2020 during their Black Friday sale and got an even better rate, i.e. just under $200 per night. In addition to picking your room (i.e. building and floor) and signing up for the restaurants in advance of arrival; if you register on their website and book through the company you get free transportation to/from the airport too. Their rate was equal to or better than or the same as the "online" hotel booking sites. The resort's service was great, the dining options were unbeatable (i.e. eight different restaurant choices for the evening meal), the food was outstanding, the rooms are spacious, the entertainment was very good, and the grounds are unbelievable. The "luxury" side of the resort complex is adults only, if you want an even cheaper rate you can book the "grand" side; however, there will be kids there. The WiFi was pretty good and there was a decent "nude beach" at the opposite (far) end of the property. My only complaints were: 1) one of the elevators in the building that I was in never worked. Also, all their working elevators were fairly slow. 2) They allow smoking pretty much everywhere outside and I seemed to always be sitting/lounging downwind from a smoker at the beach and/or pool, etc. 3) Their TV channels didn't include Fox Sports 1 so I couldn't watch the Ohio State football game. However, they do have a pretty good "sports bar".
Horrible Experience with Luxury Bahia Principe
This all inclusive property has an overly aggressive and misleading approach for marketing to hotel patrons for repeat visits to the property which made my trip quite unpleasant. On arriving at the hotel, we waited 3 hours before we were checked. During that period we observed several other guests waiting to be checked in, two of them an older couple who had been waiting for 5 hours already and were now totally exhausted and frustrated. Once we were finally checked in , we were approached by several sales persons affiliated with Bahia Principe.
