Family Friendly Toddler Babymoon
Leading up to our trip I read several terrible reviews and was really nervous for what to expect when we got there. I am happy to say that we did not experience any of the terrible things that others did (I read about power turning off, rude staff, and people being so dissatisfied). I had actually started questioning our decision to go here. But I'm glad to say we had an amazing trip. A couple of things - one just balance your expectations, yes there is 12% tax on EVERYTHING, and yes there is 15% gratuity on everything too and yeah the service kinda sucks. But you were prob going to tip at least 15% of most of your meals anyway so it's just included. You have to get past that part. two - there are ways to make it more affordable once you are there. We brought lots of packaged snacks with us for the room. We also got a private taxi company (Sandy's taxi) to take us to a local grocery store on the way to the resort, we stocked up on water, and some fruit like apples, bananas, cherries, things that didn't have to be refrigerated. three - walk to dunkin donuts for breakfast a few mornings. It's not that long of a walk and we were able to get coffee and breakfast sandwiches for really cheap which also saved us money four - there are budget friendly options of restaurants to pick from. We ate at Murray's deli, pizza one night, Frankie bananas etc. We just chose options such as sandwiches which really cut back on cost. We went out to Carmine's our last night and we actually loved it. We also did Olives one night too, that was so/so for the price, prob wouldn't do that one again. Yes the room is somewhat dated and could prob use a refresh but it wasn't too bad. We also didn't encounter any negative service in regards to the hotel. We were even able to check into our room EARLY!!! We arrived at 9am on Sunday morning and our room was available for us right away - something I was not expecting! The pools were amazing, even for a pregnant woman and a toddler. We loved the kids pool options and went back and forth between the two. There were even times that my daughter was the only one in the one kids pool (granted we were there the week before the hurricane). Is Atlantis perfect? No. But there were a lot of positives and it was a great location for someone that was 6 months pregnant and also had a 2.5 year old to entertain. She loved the trip the most!
Great view, nice location
We stayed in a corner room with two balconies. It was well situated in the middle of the resort. The room had a few maintenance issues and the staff was very attentive to fixing the issue. I enjoyed spending time watching the manta rays and sharks gliding around below in the cove. Great pools and beach.
Everything is expensive !!!!
Very nice facilities ,low cost rooms, but everything is very expensive. They discouraged us from.leaving Paradise island. We were not aware that they would charge us 12% vat tax on everything plus 15% gratutity on every meal. Just be aware for example , breakfast for two cost $76 , bottles of water $8 . You can stay off the island and take tours of the royal , you dont have to stay here
Checked in today at this property. People have been wonderful. Everyone we have met enjoy their jobs. Second honeymoon for the wife and I. I am a Marriott Titanium. Requested a king bed and upgrade. I did not get either. That being said I have never received an upgrade at a Marriott resort. However, they have all been crowded and I understand. This place is at 20% capacity per an employee. Complained to Marriott Bonvoy via Twitter. They send me a terms and condition statement. Really!!! On a property that’s 20% occupied. I’m also an elite at Hyatt. There is a property next door that has great reviews. Guess they treat their elites better over there. Might have to check it out. Extremely disappointed in Marriott and this property. If your an elite go anyplace but here because your elite status is not worth anything here at Atlantis Bahamas .
OUTSTANDING Family Vacation
Atlantis Royal Tower - Best family vacation – EXCEEDED expectations! Where to start. Normally I do not write reviews. Prior to this trip, after reading all of the negative reviews of the Royal Tower Atlantis, we started to almost dread the trip. We were not as excited as we normally would have been. We were very wrong to feel that way, and because of this I would like to point out the many ways this resort is fantastic. PRO’s: Polite and friendly checkin process – shout out to Kristoph, he was great! 2 free waters daily. Get your wrist band and towels early, no lines. If the wrist band stays on you, you don’t have to go to get a new one each day. Grab a few chairs under an umbrella to use as your home base. Atlantis staff very friendly! Beautiful marine life everywhere. The Dig is not to be missed. Free feeding times, listed on the Atlantian paper daily schedule. Paid activity Rise and Shine with Dolphins was really neat and worth it. The ability to snorkel, go on waterslides, swim in many pools, or the ocean throughout the day. The snorkeling under the bridge was great, we saw small nurse sharks, barracuda, rays, conch, lots of tropical fish. Bring your own gear and it is free. Inexpensive food at the poolside snack bars, use your room key and it will come out of your resort credit. We did not have any billing surprises. Beautiful landscaping everywhere you look. Outside resort fun includes the Marina area shops, riding the water ferry to town (4 dollars each person), Straw Market and Fish Fry – walkable from ferry drop. Fishing charters are affordable, just ask around. Green Parrot will cook any fish you catch for 10.75 per person and give you a huge salad with it. CON’s: Cruise ship days, when more than 2 boats are in it does get crowded. The VAT and tip tax is a real deal, and is also added if you choose to get cash from the ATM, something like 12%. Water park does not actually open until 10am, this is late when rising early. Closes by 7pm. Cabana not really worth it, if you get chairs early you don’t need to spend the extra money. Other cons, NONE. Here is our takeaway. We will absolutely be back, as soon as possible. The people that are claiming that the employees are unkind or uncaring probably didn’t treat them like human beings. I can site several examples where I witnessed American’s treating food service staff just terribly, almost abusive in one case. The building/hotel is not new but it was nice. We didn’t expect it to be a 5 star Ritz, you have wet people trapesing through it on a near constant basis. It was kept clean. I have a mold allergy and I was just fine. We experienced a loss of power once or twice but there are plenty of stair cases, take the stairs people! We were there just prior to Dorian, and the hotel staff was very helpful and accommodating, preparing guests in case they had to hunker down in the ballroom. We flew out just prior so I have no experience with what happened. All in all it was a fabulous trip. Pack snacks, use your resort credit at the snack bars pool side, get up early and get your spot for the day, treat people kindly, and have a nice time.
