Service is not with a smile,
Not my cup a tea but was treated from work Free is good. Would not have been happy if I paid for it. Our room was redone, so that was nice. Water was turned off for hours in our tower. Elevators did not all work Employees are not friendly You get a few, but in general they do not want be bothered. I never experienced this in the Bahamas before. The pools area was a mess. Then again you have cruise ship people coming for the day. And the beach chairs where not set up nice and garbage around. No one cleaned these areas as the day went along. Seafire grille by the marina was such poor service we were almost in shock. I did have lunch near the Cove at Sip Sip which was nice. Jenna was our 1st smiling server. She was great. Not worth the money. Stay at the COVE or go somewhere else.
Uber expensive, normal rooms (In Royal), so very busy
This place is just so uber expensive and so so so so so busy. It can take you an hour to walk from one end to another. Plan your dinners and activities accordingly. And it definitely is not stroller/wheelchair friendly. Very out dated in that respect. We had to walk way around buildings and out of our way to get anywhere with the little kids. At busier times there are not enough chairs (well, there are never enough chairs), but once the cruise ships start rolling in there go the towels too. One day they ran out. The dining options are more chain restaurant types, nothing special. We stayed in the Royal Towers, maybe the most central but not the nicest on the property. For $1500 a night over New Years, this is just a plan run of the mill hotel room. So crazy! We over looked the pool area and therefore the very loud concert and fire works on New Years. Great if your young, but not our young and not when you have a 1 and 2 year old also trying to sleep. We did all the activities that our young kids could take part. Highly recommend the Seal experience (I forget the name). Our 1 and 2 year old took part and loved it. We also did the Dip with Dolphins, they also liked that. DO NOT do the Rise and Shine with the Dolphin. Really you go ankle deep in the water and look at a few dolphins. Should not have woken the family for this one. And plus, our trainer was 45min late and never an apology. People were beyond mad at that one. Overall, the resort felt tired and older. They have upscale shopping but that is not our vibe and neither is the casino. This was not our type of place or vacation. I don't think we will be back here at least. Maybe somewhere different in the Bahamas.
Great place except one issue
First, let me say, I have enjoyed my visits to the Atlantis and just came back from staying at their Cove hotel. I find the Atlantis to be a great place to come for family or business and the hotel and surrounding resort is extremely nice. I would give this spot a 5 star, except for one thing. The restaurant service is extremely poor (for the most part, that is). We had several nice meals and I have found the food is overall very good. However, the reason for my 4 star rating is that the service at Olive’s and Seafire Restaurants was poor to fair. If you aren’t familiar with Atlantis, there is a 15% gratuity added to pretty much any food service order on property. You are allowed tip more if you so desire. I’m glad to tip more and did so on several occasions. However, I found the wait staff at the two restaurants I mentioned above to be rude and put out. Again, food was great, but kindness would go a long way. Both waiters seemed very upset when I did not tip above the required 15% and normally I would if it had not been for such poor service. With this being said, I do want to give a big shout out to my Waiter, Clayton, at Nobu. The food their was excellent and he was extremely pleasant and attentive to myself and my family. Thank you Clayton and the Nobu staff!!!
Bugs in our room-needs an upgrade
This is so tought o review- the cleaning ladies were so friendly- not their fault. But the Royal WEST tower needs updating badly. the carpets were stained, the shower was leaking and the worst was finding a bug run across the room- we caught it and when we showed the staff- they were unresponsive for 2 days, didn't seem shocked so I'm guessing they have had several complaints. I would NEVER stay there again. I would try the Cove or better go to the Comfort Inn and not pay as much. It was NOT worth the price we paid. Our 2 connecting rooms were pricey and not worth it at all. Also good to know: waterpark and beaches open at 10-5 pm, no microwave or fridge in your room - unless you pay extra per night. The food even was nothing to write home about. Best to walk to the Marina and have a Stack Burger.
Interesting trip with a few hiccups
A friend and I took this trip with our families, each having young kids (infants, 8 months and 18 months respectively). We both had been to the Atlantis resort prior and had wanted to go with our families. Ensure you ask for a RENOVATED room, or else you will be in one that will be quite lacking (equivalent to a Motel room). My friend ended up in a room with clogged tub and sinks and ended up getting upgraded to a newer room, which I had. After that hurdle, we ended up having no running water through the faucets as they claimed they were going through renovations (but we're in renovated rooms). You would think a five star hotel would have planned their work, with contingency plans, or planned out their operations better, but with no running water - we ended up with a crate of water bottles that we picked up our selves and brought to our rooms. Both our infant children bathed like emperors in Dasani water (unfortunately cold). Our locker/safe in the room did not work, as we'd have to call security to unlock it to gain access to our belongings every night. These guys need to spend more on asset management/maintenance, as both my friend and I, are starting to notice cracks and kinks in what was considered quite a palatial place to visit and relax. we visited the front desk like 4 times during our 6 day trip to file complaints, have issues addressed. YES - The water park, beaches, and food were all great, but the experience of not being able to rest and enjoy are my takeaways from this trip, having spent quite a lot of money for sub par service and experience. Yes, we received resort credits towards our stay but they need to do something more, for me to stay again. getting a resort credit doesn't fix all the unease we had to endure. I asked for a resort view when I knew, there were rooms available, but we a got the port view (boats/cruises), stating that nothing is available. Atlantis, you had loyal customers, but just lost them both.
