Sunscapers Review Summer 2019
I was a guest at Sunscapers in August 2019 with family and friends. The experience was awesome, wow...we had a great time! It was lovely to be back at Sunscapers, ( aka Sunset Beach) thank you all for the great service. A big thanks especially to Clive, Pauline and Garvin. We had an excellent service from you all. I will definitely be back. PS food nice, cocktails magnificent, entertainments awesome. Staff very helpful and pleasant. Overall service was excellent! 100 stars. 😃😃😃
We were worried, given all the negative reviews, but all was good. At check in, we were offerred the option of upgrading to The Cove for $475 but we declined. We had asked for a very quiet room and we were very happy with 5714. It is a corner room with views of both the bay and the ocean. Service in the room was fine, overall. One day the mini bar was not restocked but it was rectified. A few times we did not receive the full complement of towels. We thought the food in all of the restaurants was fine. Service was good. The resort and the beach are quite small, so there isn't a lot places to walk. Unfortunately, there were jellyfish the week we were there, and so we could not snorkel.
Ultimate catish experience
I arrived into Jamacia at 12:30 I booked my transportation with amstar, they did a great job picking me up and dropping me off at a respectable time. Check in wasnt until 3 pm so they do allow you to place your bags in the lobby and watch them for you. We were supposed to have a ocean front view.... we have a veiw of the roof. The rooms are old, not renovated. beds are terrible, not comfortable like hotel beds usually are. The floors are a white tile so they get dirty really fast. On our first night they never came in to clean our room and the shower was leaking so we had water everywhere.. we called for towels and no one came. They made us switch rooms... and still didnt give us the ocean veiw when their were less then 50 guest checked in and staying at the resort. Our sheets were awful feeling, had stains in it. The room is very dark, their isnt much light. . . Rating for the roooms: 0/5 Food... Trash trash trashhhhh... this resort has so much potential.. everyone resort on an island does, they are so cheap. If you want a homemade Jamaican meal go out side the resort. Breakfast the only thing worth eating was the omelets because you make it your self. Lunch, hit or miss they can not cook American food, the fruit is out in the open with fruit flies all on them, the sandwich meat has flies crawling over it with no cover... Dinner, the goat curry was good.. but everything really was gross one night they closed the buffet because their was not enough guest staying... crazy!! So we had to eat trash bootleg Chinese food or even worst Italian food.. which was frozen dinners on a plate... buffet closes at 10pm every night if it is even open... after that you are gonna starve only if you like boiled hot dogs and sawgy buns Food: 0/5 Amenities, they have 3 bars... all the drinks were so sugary... but I did discover the dirty banana which was a heavy blended rum drink... was good. best thing we had the whole trip The pools were whatever, if you want to wash one load of clothes its 10 us dollars plus detergent that is 5 us dollars... lol they do have free kayaking and snorkeling available on the beach which was cool... they don't or didn't have bar service at the beach you always have to get up and get a drink if you want one. Amenities 2/5 Transportation they do give you free rides to all the clubs pick up times are 9:30 10:30 and 11;30 they bring you have at 1:15 and 2:00 after that you are on your own margarita ville was packed its fun if you are menatally prepared for 200 + people in one little space Peir 1 was more spread out, both were a good time Transportation 5/5 Hospitality luckily everyone was nice and helpful... its funny tho cause they were asking me andmy friend why we are staying at that resort.,, If you are 21-35 and are going souly for a good time and you wanna be lit every night this is not it. THIS IS NOT IT this is a kids resort and it was a terrible experience... luckily our excursions made up for it
The hotel was lovely with some stunning views of the ocean and bay. Food was different each day especially liked the more local Jamaican dishes. Entertainment could be improved. Hotel rooms could do with a reburbishment decor outdated. We had a twin double room and the beds could barely sleep 2 adults. Overall the hotel was good for the price we as a family enjoyed the hotel and the free beach activities such as kayaking. Staff were so friendly but were very slow at times to respond to requests.
Loved my Stay!
I was skeptical about the reviews but I got everything I asked for!!! It is not bad at all there are just picky people or those who expected the ritz! The resort is beautiful, upgrades needed yes, but staying there was still amazing. I had an amazing view.I had an amazing stay. First off my check in and out was done in 1 minute tops. I was greeted everyday by staff and ALL staff were nice and went out of there way to assist. I was able to able to get the BEST prices for my excursions from Shernette with JTL Tours who also provided my on time airport transfers. The food was great!!! Some people said the buffet had the same thing everyday, which is half true but it was fresh, had variety, geesh just pick something different each day!! Some say the water at the beach was full of seaweed- false but bring beach shoes. I got champagne for my birthday - complimentary. The night activities were awesome. One day I felt my room wasn't cleaned well, but the front desk took care of that immediately. The 24 hour cafe was great!!!!! The Portofino has great cuisine. I felt so at home. I did sailing at the resort and Kevon was awesome. I was afraid but he help me calm down: I have a fear of deep waters. I will say the taxi service from the hotel is ridiculously pricey and you should not use it, they will charge you about 30 dollars to go 10 minutes up the road- but everyone is trying to make a buck. If you do need to get to Negril, Ochi, Kingston, use the Knutsford Express its close to the hotel and you ride in total COMFORT. Kevin at the Portofino is the BOMB! I think my tv only had 1 channel- no big deal.I absolutely loved my stay and will come back. The pictures say it ALL! Until next time my friends-
