Beautiful Secrets Papagayo
This resort is amazing for the jungle like scenery with the huge bay as a backdrop. The room was very comfortable and the food in all of the resort restaurants was excellent. All of the resort staff were very considerate and accommodating. Wewould definitely return to Secrets Papagayo.
Amazing trip ! Will be back
Wonderful experience at Secrets Papagayo. Food was delicious, staff was amazing as well as helpful. They give above and beyond to ensure everyone is satisfied, which really stands out! The beach was beautiful and clean.
We completely enjoyed our short stay at Secrets. PROS: The site is beautiful, the beach wonderful for walking or yoga, the food excellent (a delicious surprise), the pools pleasant, the room and bed comfy, the activities and entertainment fun, and the staff absolutely delightful. My all time favorite is the fantastic coffee shop with the friendly and helpful barista and even gluten free options for us with dietary challenges. CONS: The WiFi is barely functional and the spa is extremely overpriced. We were gifted a spa visit in return for the (hard sell) marketing gig, and if we had to pay it would not have been worth it. These 2 disadvantages were outweighed by the good experience and we would return in a heartbeat.
Amazing Trip! We will be back!
We had a wonderful time at Secrets Papagayo! We went to visit in September 2019 to look into getting married there in 2020. The rooms were clean, the staff was excellent and the views are beautiful. There are a lot of shuttles services since the resort is pretty much on a mountain area. We were not up high so we were able to walk everywhere. Henry at the pool bar and Merari with the events team are amazing and made our trip so memorable! Truly one of the best trips we have taken and we will either be back to get married or for another visit!
Great place, but a heads up on the "people"
Room: Oceanview Suite with Plunge Pool. Time of year: Sept I'll start by saying the resort itself is immaculate! Everything there was pristine and absolutely gorgeous. The staff was exceptional and extremely accomodating in every way. The food was top notch at every restaurant on property....they even cooked the tuna we caught while off shore fishing and prepared a great dinner for us at the Seaside Grill. My ONLY Complaint about the trip was more of a personal preference, and I'll be perfectly candid so that others who are considering an all inclusive resort can use this info to make their own decision. We spent a significant amount of money on this trip, and especially for the suite with the plunge pool and ocean view. In fact, the cost is nearly double that of a "standard" resort room. By the way....the room was freaking awesome! Having said that, the one thing you should consider is that other people are going to an all inclusive resort and paying a fraction of the price for the standard room. Because of this, there were people there who were some what "trashy". Sorry, but that is the absolute truth. I can't tell you how many times I heard people say " I paid $2000 to be here, so I'm going to drink $2000 worth of alcohol". And clearly they did! The pool area is a good time, but there were a lot of people there getting absolutely trashed! If you came with your significant other to enjoy a weekend away, and your surrounded by drunks just looking to drink as much as possible, then you can understand why that would annoy some people. Now, the problem I have with this is that we paid nearly double the price and intended to stay at a high end resort to AVOID this exact type of situation, and yet, there was no shortage of drunks. It has a high end resort feel, but the truth is, anyone can share rooms and make this a cheap party on a budget. Sure, you can go to the "Spa Pool", but that doesn't change anything about the dinning. All the restaurants (except one) are located around the pool area. You really can't avoid it unless you hide in your room all week. I didn't spend $5k to be surrounded by trashy people looking to get wasted all day, every day. I don't care if this review sounds a bit harsh. If someone would have told me this before I booked, I would have seriously looked elsewhere. Great overall property and resort, but if I wanted to be surrounded by trashy people I would go to Bike Week in Daytona.....at least there it would be expected.
