Great Stay with Friends
The resort is nice and well maintained. The rooms are nice and spacious. Room was serviced daily. The pool is big and the service is great. Gabino is the best pool waiter!! He took amazing care of us every day. Food is good, breakfast buffet was good but often a 10 person line up for the omelette station. Italian was excellent, Mexican and Asian also good. Oceana, not so much. My biggest issue with the whole resort is the rule about men having to wear pants to dinner. It’s so hot outside and forcing men to wear pants and shoes is so ridiculous. Also, if you have a group that is more than 4 people, the wait to be seated for dinner is always 30-40 minutes, which is insane. Hopefully the resort can make some improvements on this. Otherwise we had a nice time and enjoyed our stay. Please tip the staff, they work very hard and deserve it :)
Nice Adults Only Property!
My husband and I have stayed here twice. We love the food and adults only ambiance. The service is good. I would not say great because some employees we encountered in the bars and restaurants were lacking in friendliness even when we tipped well and did not ask for much. The drinks are endless but I did notice a decline in quality of mixers compared to the first time we visited. Most fo the fruity drinks tasted the same. I do not care for the separation of the preferred vs regular pools and amenities this time around. It feels like the preferred club is underutilized and everyone crams into the regular pool. It can get pretty crowded and the first few days we were there the pool was murky. They did have a pool company working on it and it got better but not very inviting the first few days. The gym is well equipped and very small. It gets very busy in the mornings, especially with all of the groups they host. Yes, that part is true. There are many, many corporate groups that stay here which does detract slightly from the romantic vibe. With all those things said, this hotel is an incredible value, the rooms are spacious and clean, the restaurants are varied and all have delicious food. We also love the morning coffee shop and quesadillas and guac from the pool restaurant. The swing, beach bar is beautiful and fun. We also enjoy the swim-up suites for added afternoon relaxation before heading out to dinner.
Worth the trip
My husband and I have stayed at countless all inclusives so we have a lot to compare it to! Service was excellent, food was excellent. Rooms were huge and clean. Our view was excellent. Many in our party had the swim up room, which they loved, but you do not get a view from there. I would prefer a view. Advice - if you are going with another couple divvy it up so you can enjoy the swim up feature. Mostly b/c pool closes at 5pm so it's nice to hang out a little longer and enjoy your mini bar while the sun sets. Very weird thing about the swim up room though, you have to get out of the pool, walk a block or two, and go through your room to get there. Kinda dumb. Any other resort has it attached to a pool somehow. Just FYI Nightly entertainment was good. And I liked that it was late enough (9:30pm) so that you could enjoy a (later) dinner and still catch the show. Food and food choices were great! Hibachi was FANTASTIC! And so much our groups favorite that they ate there mutiple times. I have two complaints though 1) put the mexican items that are on the breakfast buffet on the lunch buffet. Such as white cheese, guac, salsa, tortillas, sour cream, etc. I do not want these items for breakfast, but could not find them at lunch - weird. 2) Do not charge for a bottle to accommodate a large group for dinner. It's tacky and wrong. We are at an all inclusive. We might have groups that want to eat together. We never complained if there was a wait (which there wasn't), but they act like they are doing you a favor if they seat you without it or they tell you no. As I said, everything really was excellent. Only complaints (other than above) are 1) pushy sales people in lobby. Ugh, I'm on vacation stop trying to waste my time. If I want something, I'll let you know. 2) Many people complained that air conditioners do not work properly (including ours). However, ours was the only one in our goup. So, it really depends on the room you get. 3)Lighting in bathroom is TERRIBLE. You CANNOT see to put make up on. I know that sounds crazy, but, Believe me it's bad. 4)Music at pool is BAD. They have a DJ for a couple hours one day. That's fun. Mornings are like old folks home instrumentals and afternoons pick up the beat just a little. A LOT of room for improvement here! you are not allowed to play your own :( Also worth noting - it is quite a walk to get to the beach and you cannot go into the ocean. But they have turtle nests which was definitely one of the highlights of our trip. Lastly, really good wait staff at the pool. They work REALLY hard, so TIP them! We would definitely go back.
We went for our 27th Anniversary and had a blast . The staff were very friendly and accommodating . They had plenty of activities and the food was great . The swim out pool from our room was such a nice feature .
Relaxation to the MAX!
If you've enjoyed other Secrets then this one will not disappoint. We had an ocean view room (5th floor) and the room was exceptionally clean and had everything you could want along with a nice sized balcony. The location had nothing nearby but what it did have was the best - without a doubt - walkable beach we've come across; you could go for an hour plus in either direction and it was firm sand underfoot. There are designated swimming spots in Cabo and this was not one of them. This Secrets location also had our favourite pool with mats available for floating on and trees in the pool itself with little benches all around them so you could wade out and relax with your drink in the pool. Thankfully when we were there the practice of "chair hogs" and claiming a spot at the pool was minimal (the next group through could be different though). There were turtle nests on the beach and sadly none were hatching while we were there. Our favourite restaurant experience was the Teppanyaki; we were disappointed in the Oceana. You can't find fault with their breakfast selections and services, the Entertainment team was attentive which is always a pleasure (special thank you's Roberto and Lucas at the wine tasting and Christopher for our Day of the Dead tour into town). One last kudos to the resort...your grounds and landscaping are fantastic! It was a treat to be able to walk around everywhere and take in the cleanliness and relaxed feel of the property.
