My boyfriend and I had a great stay at this resort. The people at the front desk are kind, the staff was helpful and it really felt like we were welcomed with open arms. The food was good; mine and my boyfriend's personal favourite restaurant was the japanese! The cleaning service was always on time in our room. The infinity pool was huge, the adult pool was my favourite as it was quiet and relaxing. The beach is beautiful and the waves were crazy. My boyfriend and I had a romantic dinner on the beach, planned out by the resort, and it was magical. We loved this place!!
Pros and cons
I’d really give this resort a 3.5 but that’s not an option. The property itself is beautiful. We stayed in altitude and really enjoyed our rooms. Our family stayed in another building and their AC was broken the majority of the time, despite several complaints and even checking out 3 other rooms (that were also warm). The food was meh... some good and some not so great. We were there while they were making some improvements so our first few buffet meals were in a ballroom. Not many options and nothing looked that appetizing. The next few days were MUCH better with food. However, any restaurant except the buffet didn’t have any options for kids. So if you have even the slightest picky eater like I do, try and stick to the buffet. The coco café was really nice and we were able to get some options for our kids after dinner if we couldn’t find much for them for dinner. Breakfast was great, food at the pool also great. The service was amazing for the most part. Our waiter at the Japanese restaurant didn’t seem too nice but everyone else was great! Chloe at the kids club was fun for our kiddos and they actually asked to go back! I unfortunately cannot remember the name of the gentleman who was also in the kids club but he hosted the pool volleyball and was amazing! My kids loved him and volleyball was a blast! The bellman Humberto was sooo nice and super helpful. Pools weren’t super refreshing but we’ve found this to be common at resorts in Mexico. The adult pool was much cooler as well as the kids play area. The movie on the beach and beach party dinner were also fun! I think what you get for the price speaks volumes at this resort.
For some time, a family member had talked glowingly about his stays at the Amresorts properties of which he is a member. He suggested my girlfriend and I come on a trip with him and his wife, while I consider potential membership. He suggested several properties that he had previously stayed where we could get a swim out suite and have an ocean view. However, for the dates we were available, the only property that could accommodate us was Reflect Krystal Grand Resort Los Cabos. At the time of booking, the swim out suite was unavailable for me but I was able to secure a room with an ocean view. I’ve traveled with professional sports teams all over the Americas, so I have a good feel for quality accommodations and customer service. Upon arrival at first glance everything appeared beautiful. I’ll start with the room. The view was awesome however I noticed a number of tiles in the floor were broken or cracked, the walls were peeling in spots and the air conditioner return was rusty and full of dust. With the humidity, we were going to be taking lots of showers however, we discovered that the shower water was cold or tepid at best. The water from the sink was hot, but not in the shower? I advised the front desk. I was told that building maintenance would check it out but even after complaining to VIP Services the next day, it was not resolved. I spent 4 days with no hot water. It was suggested that I didn’t understand how to use the shower, but the last time I checked, knob towards red is hot water and knob towards blue is cold water. At one point they even wanted me to sit in my room and wait for maintenance to show me how to use the knobs. I wasn’t spending my vacation time and money waiting on a repairman! The final room insult was on day two when I returned to the room to discover ants in and all over my suitcase. After calling the desk again, housekeeping came and sprayed. We continued to kill ants for the remainder of our stay. With regards to housekeeping, after collecting all the towels day one if we didn’t ask for face towels, they didn’t provide them. Room - Tiles in the floor were broken or cracked. - Walls were peeling in spots. - Air conditioner return was rusty and full of dust. - Shower water was cold or tepid at best. - Ants in and all over my suitcase. - Housekeeping not providing face towels after first day. - No snacks or bottles of Tequila (as promised for VIP Guests) in the room. It rained on day two and we discovered that the property was full of holes, everywhere! We had to navigate buckets in the walkways, lobby, lavatories and restaurants. The daily buffet had to be relocated to a conference room supposedly because of flooding (more like a leaking ceiling!) In the main lobby and several restaurants, I saw water flowing from light fixtures (electrical fire waiting to happen!). It was obvious by the damp, mold, mildew smell everywhere, that this was not the first time this had occurred (health hazard). Add to this, the flies everywhere! You literally had to cover your plates and drinking glasses with a napkin to keep the flies off your meal. I did not see a single bug zapper or fly strip anywhere. It was truly gross to have food sitting out in the open, inside and outside with flies landing on it (health hazard). Food waste cans that were attracting flies were sitting right near the food order pick up areas. It also struck me as odd that the restaurants were all using oscillating fans instead of the air conditioner (apparently another electrical issue). As a result, the food wait staff were sweating all over the food that was being prepared and served. Property - Water leaks - Electrical issues - Mold & Mildew - Flies (Lobby bar, O Restaurant Buffet, Surfos snack bar) - Staff sweating all over the food (Everywhere) Restaurants & Bars Food is one of the things that makes these kinds of trips special. It’s the opportunity to indulge in cuisine you might not prepare for yourself at home. Everyone was encouraged to eat at the buffet daily because some of the restaurants were not open daily (I’ll discuss that later.) The buffet was awful. I find it difficult to describe the lack of taste, seasoning or variety presented at the buffet. The quality of food was worse than any family chain buffet restaurant I’ve ever eaten at. The food quality was so poor, many of the guests during the day ordered food from the pool side snack bar Surfos. Surfos then became overwhelmed with the number of orders, so the wait time was up to 45 minutes for a fish taco, a quesadilla, a slice of pizza or chicken wings. It appeared one poor guy who was sweating all over the food was cooking everything. Marina from VIP Services advised on day 1 that we would need to make reservations in advance in person to eat at Ayami Teppanyaki. It was closed on day 1. And as I would later discover, all the restaurants on the property rotated being closed between Friday and Monday. I was advised to be at Ayami at 3pm to make the reservation. When I arrived, six people were waiting ahead of me. When I met with the woman taking the reservations who was a bit nasty with her tone, she advised they were no longer take reservations for the Teppanyaki dinner show. I asked how that could be when they had just opened for reservations which was to done in person. She had no explanation other than my party of six could come back for regular dinner service on a first come first serve basis. This was a huge disappointment. The food services were limited by day, time and service capacity. How is this possible in an all-inclusive resort? I cannot understand how you can go on vacation and enjoy it, if you are on a strict meal schedule with limited - no options. On day 3, we tried to catch a snack before dinner at Martini & Tapas (It didn’t open until 5pm). While sitting on a bar stool (Just sitting!) it collapsed and completely broke from under me. Luckily I had one foot on the ground to catch my balance and not fall to the floor. I looked at the waiter in disbelief. Without saying a word, he picked up the broken stool and carried it over to a pile of other broken stools and walked away never asking if I were okay or offering me another stool. I called over to him, asking for another stool, he shrugged his shoulders and said they were out of chairs and walked away. The resort advertised unlimited top shelf spirits. I couldn’t find top shelf spirits anywhere on the property! I tried drinks at every single bar and the VIP Lounges. The spirits actually tasted watered down even if I asked for them straight. I have never had to write such a negative review in my life and I feel bad having to do so. The only bright spot during my stay came from a waitress and bartender named “Erica”. Erica seemed to be everywhere, Lobby Bar, Surfos, Oasis Bar serving and bartending. It was obvious she could see all the dysfunction happening around her but she remained positive and attentive to our needs. If Reflect Krystal Grand Resort Los Cabos is an example of what Amresorts has to offer, I would recommend going somewhere else quickly and forget being a member. I would rate the entire experience as a huge failure. I would love to have my money back! The property appears to be falling apart and mismanaged. I have a few photos to prove it! The resort seemed to miss every opportunity to make a good impression. I will never stay here again! My recommendation to Amresorts is to close this property and conduct a complete overhaul!
I visited Reflect Krystal Grand with my mom a week ago. We both had a great stay. The resort is very well taken care of, very clean, and a good size (on the smaller side which I prefer). The food is good, especially compared to other resorts I've stayed at, the buffet was always fresh and had good selection. The a la cartes were all pretty good, too. We had a little mishap with our room - a piece of furniture randomly broke and left glass everywhere. After an initial issues with customer service reps at concierge (who said they had to put our credit card on hold until the damage was investigated) we were finally taken care of by a manager (Pablo) who assured us we had nothing to worry about and said they were going to investigate this piece of furniture in other rooms as well. We were ultimately satisfied with the eventual outcome and thought it was handled appropriately in the end. One of the best things about this resort is the staff! Special shout out to the following: Armando (waiter at Risotto & Ayami) - He is a great server, very attentive and he even assisted me when I had difficulties opening the lock to my luggage! Very sweet guy. Thank you again! Sebastian & Jose Luis (Entertainment/Activity Staff) - These two are so welcoming and really fun. They really do their best to engage with visitors and get them participating in activities. Evening Lobby Bar Bartenders - Such great service! Very attentive and gracious. The Spa and Gym employees are all awesome!
