This is our second time staying at the Reflect Cancun and for the money this is an excellent choice. I would like to give a big shout out and thank you to the following employees who made our trip so memorable. ALONSO, PEDRO, ALEJO, ALVORE, BRALLEN, EVETTE AND ROBERTO. The Ayami, Risotto and The Grill are great places to eat with a variety of choices. The beach at this resort is one of the best I have ever seen. The downfalls would be the elevators,(they were working on them when we were there) and the rooms do need to be updated. If you are looking for something better I would suggest the Altitude Tower. If you are looking for nightly entertainment you will need to go off site most nights. The was fine for us as we normally spend all day outside and later dinners. This resort is located near many shopping areas and bars; all within walking distance. You can also visit their sister resorts after 6:00 p.m. during your stay which is a great perk.
Altitude Tower is a must.
So my wife and I decided to go to cancun for the 2nd time this year simply because of the blue ocean. We did our research and we selected Reflect Cancun Altitude Tower. The resort got acquired by AMResort last year so it has its time to upgrade and align themself to be a part of a more premium hotel. So how was my experience? Well read on. I've read many reviews, a mixed of both goods and bads. I wasn't sure why until I get there... Hotel in general (Altitude Tower) : 4/5 Many people complaint that they have AC, or not enough elevator for the capacity. It's true... If you stay in the main tower (old tower). We stayed at the altitude tower, the AC is at full blast right from the reception... So much some times we find it freezing as we enter the building lol. There are 2 elevators which is enough for that tower, never waited more than 2 minutes. There's a bar at the reception level, exclusive to Altitude Tower guests with premium drinks. It's great cozy lounge for a drink or 2. The waiter Jahir is always there to help you, offering a home-feel service. After the 2nd day, he already remember what I like and get it prepared as I go to the bar. Gracias Jahir! We stayed at the ocean view room on the 10th floor... Seriously... That view is stunning! Look at the picture below and see it yourself! The room is clean, modern, spacious with usual stuff: flat TV, fridge, storage. I love their shower, super big with a rain shower head. Housekeeping is done daily and super efficient... And it's done properly. The cleaning lady made sure the towels are changed, the bedsheets are done. My only complaint is that the fridge is not restock daily as they promise. It's another waiter who does the restocking... But for some reason he only did it like 3 or 4 times. *There's a new law in cancun where they cannot put alcohol or beers in the room mini fridge, I beleive it's because it's a family friendly resort... There's a bar at the lobby not far so all good. Food/Meal quality: 2/5 Yup, this one is super disappointing. There are few restaurant to choose; Ayami - Asian + teppan yaki Risotto - Italian The Grill - mixture of everything, steak, fish, chicken, tacos, etc Beach BBQ - burgers, burgers, burgers Poolside restaurant (not sure the name) - ceviche, chicken nuggets. Restaurant O - buffet. Ayami & Risotto are not bad, but it's Asian and Italian... So rice, noodles, pasta... For sure you'll be full. The grill is ok... But the wait time is a bit long. Beach BBQ, if you want to eat under the sun or by the pool. The buffet is really pathetic, they have different theme every day, sounds like a lot of choices but no. Every day you'll get a maximum of 8 options (and I'm pushing it when I said 8). Asian night literally have 4 + soups. So you can see why I rated so poorly... The only thing good is that Altitude Tower has 24h room service, we pretty much have breakfast every morning with the specular view. Another thing is the lack of seafood... It's pretty much non existence... You get some cheap tuna at Ayami, 2 dices of shrimp in a soup... I've been to Hyatt Ziva right next to them... I was having big shrimp cocktails, clams, pretty much all day everyday. **To the resort management, an incident happened on my last night. My wife and I wanted to have dinner at Risotto (no need of reservation) once we got there we were told the policy has just changed and it required reservations as of that day (Nov 13th). This is really stupid. We were told that Ayami teppan yaki and the Mexican restaurant needs reservation when we check in. Then you guys changed the policy without notifying your guests... It's not okay to change policy on the fly to begins with** Beers choices: corona, corona light, bud light, modero. Altitude Tower will give you access to premium scotch, vodka, etc. My wife's favorite cocktail : Amazona & passion fruit mojito. Mine? Lol black label double shots on the rocks. The pools / Bali beds : 3/5 There are 2 rather small pools in the middle of the hotel... In which the sun's blocked 50% of the time. I went there once and never went back. There is also an infinite pool exclusive to Altitude Tower guest... It's small, let's get that clear... And it's quite dirty at times. There Bali beds by the infinite pool and also by the beach... But here is also my complaint. Altitude Tower guest can reserve 1 day on the Bali beds... If you want more, you need to pay or buy a bottle of wine/champagne. Altitude Tower is supposed to be luxury unlimited, I just don't like the fact that we are forced to buy bottles if we want to enjoy more days on the Bali beds... Especially most of them are vacant. Well I still purchased a bottle because my wife wanted the bali bed... And Hervik took good care of us, he went beyond, he has the bed prepared with towels and everything. Come by to check up on us every now and then. Gracias Hervik! *if you go there, ask for Hervik by the beach, tell him Eric sent you over :) People: 3/5 Ouff...that's a tough one. Well let me start by giving a shoutout to the ones that I truly appreciated. Like I've just mentioned: Hervik You might think that he took care of us because I bought a bottle but seriously the service and friendliness that he offered worth way, way, way more than the bottle. Good guy to chat with, I even offered to buy him a beer (lol) he turned me down because he's working. Great personality. Jahir, the waiter at the bar of Altitude Tower. Some times is just little things that makes people happy. Every time we crossed by at the tower, he always say hi to me with a big smile, it tells that he is enjoying working there. Mayra, the hostess for both Risotto and Ayami. She is ALWAYS smiling, she has a very cute personality when she great guests. Her smile will bring you the sun even at night. What I also like about her is, she will let us know when will be less busy at the restaurant and suggested us to come back at the time so we don't have to wait. Mayra, once again, thank you for being you, thank you always smiling :) There are still some others good one thoughout the resort that I don't remember all their names... Or didn't interact enough... Such as Jonathan & Mario at the infinite pool. Thanks for serving us during our stay. And then there's a not so good one... Namely Liliana... She works by the beach and bali beds... 1st day... She avoided me a few times until I stepped in and asked for her. 2nd day... She is rude... I understand working under Sun is not the most pleasant thing, but you can't express to your hotel guests. She made me feel that she doesn't want to be/work there. Resort activities : 0/5 No pool side party, no shows, nothing. Oh there was one staff dancing by himself by the pool, does that counts? Clubs... They offer to bring to coco bongo every night with $. Resort location : 5/5 The reason why we picked Reflect Cancun is really because of its location. We have great ocean view from our room. The beach is super clean, water is even clearer than the pools. I was swimming with fishes so much I had buy goggles to see it! Like I said, Location is amazing, we were right in middle of the hotel zone, everything is walking distance: 8 minutes to Coco Bongo 5 minutes to Selecto (super store) 5 minutes to Starbucks and other shopping mall If you get bored in the resort, go out, go shopping :) Overall rating: 3/5 3/5 and I'm really pushing it. Thanks Hervik, Mayra and Jahir for their outstanding attitude otherwise I would rate lower. The resort is next a strong competitor, they offer much much much better foods, tons of activities that I can hear the music from my room every night. I know it's a different class, but the price are very similar as I've been to that one not too long ago. Reflect Cancun Altitude Tower is good but they have tons of opportunities. Those are my opinions only in November 2019, if you're reading this in the future, they might have improved already.
This was our 2nd stay at Reflect, we stayed there in 2013 before it was all inclusive. Thus ate dinner offsite most nights out 1at trip. We loved the rooms and view. The beach was our favorite place although the pools aren’t bad at all. Raul was the best server on the beach: friendly, happy attentive and personable. Luis at the pool was great too. Not thrilled with the Italian restaurant’s food although service was excellent. Hibachi grill was fabulous as the restaurant above the pool called the Grill. We will return because of the beach and service. However would suggest a lower room. We were on the 10th floor and as the elevator was full walked down and beat our friends to the lobby. Less light more air would be another suggestion for elevator. 4-5 days is best unless you are okay with going off site for a meal or 2. Couples message was wonderful recommend the spa. Definitely will return.
It is not a resort, much more a normal hotel. Old structure with terrible elevators (no air conditioning inside) that takes forever to leave you at your floor. Noisy air conditining in the room. Restaurants not good. Weak bufftet with smaill number of options. Same type of fish (not good) served during all days. Italian restaurant closed. Service in the restaurants took very long. Overall, not a place to return.
WE LOVE THIS PLACE!!!
This was our second trip to Reflect. We decided to bring our friends and family this trip. 15 people total. Everyone was blown away by the resort and the friendliness of their staff. My sister in law had prearranged with Anna and Jahir to surprise me with a birthday party. It was wonderful!!! Jahir decorated the lounge with balloons and confetti, we had drinks and snacks, and the most delicious cake ever!!! I can not say enough wonderful things about Jahir. He is one of the reasons we looked forward to our trip. The beach is one of the best in the area. The service on the beach is great. Our favorite beach servers were: Fernado, Jesus, Raul and Carlos. I would highly recommend to anyone thinking about going to Cancun to stay at the Reflect Altitude. It's like coming home.
