Reception: fiendly, efficient. Woman that will greet you claiming to be concierge is time share. Her desk is to right of check in. If you need ssistance gusest services is to the left of check in area. Rooms: Really need soe attention. We had small leak from bathroom ceiling, bathroom sink faucet becoming detached, face pad (displaying numbers) faded out to where you had to gueess numbers and functions. But absolutely cool and well stocked. Housekeeping service was prompt and did a good job. Beach & Pool area: fine, no complaints. Be prepared for more beach vendors than ever before. They are relentless, but always friendly and never pushy. Where this Iberostar loses us is the food service. It was way below IBEROSTAR standards. (IOO) Supply ( at any given time many food trays empty) Even early on food service times. The variety was strange, odd combinations of offerings and the temperature of breakfast foods was always off. Our group only ate at the buffets in the evening and beachside for breakfast and lunch. The service was always adequatge to very very good. I think they are going to have to spiff it up a bit, way too much competition at all price levels out there.
Hotel was great . Many food options and the food was good. Lots of help around the pool area , taking drink orders. Staff was so accomadating , especially Missy the receptionist who helped us more than once.
Great Place, Friendly Staff
My husband and I came for a week with friends and we enjoyed ourselves. Our room was beautiful and cleaned everyday. The beach is gorgeous and they had fun things to do. The best was the friendliness of the staff. Our service was amazing. Big shout out to Isis who is the yoga instructor! I went 5 days out of the 7. Thank you Isis! We also had Marcos as a server and he was fantastic and took good care of us as well as Alejandra down at the beach. The only bummer was our air conditioning wasn’t working well and our room would feel damp at times and have high humidity.
2nd time at Quetzal
I really love this resort for many reasons. The grounds are beautiful, the staff are wonderful, the food is very good, the atmosphere, the pool, the location. I was disappointed how they are constantly pushing to download their app as I really didn't want it on my phone even though I could remove it later. They should be more accommodating to people who don't want the app.I must say as much as I love this resort that the rooms are getting a bit dated and tired. The room service menu is disappointing and the pizza is not nearly as good when ordered through room service but it is great in the restaurants. A better and bigger menu would be nice when you feel like staying in. The food in all the restaurants was very good and we tried all of them.
Staff are wonderful....everyone friendly and attentive. Beach beautiful....cleaned daily so no seaweed. Buffet excellent, beach restaurant just ok. Steak house was big disappointment, Italian was our favourite . Mediterranean has lovely salmon. Rooms dated but adequate...bathroom very small. Adult pool needs update. Tiles need replacement on bar. Looks old and outdated. Small area of dirt near side of main pool needs to be covered. People and children walking in the dirt...then entering pool. Grounds are lovely and well kept , enjoyed seeing all the wildlife. Lobby chairs on quetzal side very uncomfortable.....no arms on chairs, so evenings spent on Tucan side. Had a very relaxing holiday.....would recommend....
