Not a 5 star resort
The positive? it was very pretty on the outside, the pools were pretty and the grounds were too. Also, the staff was so nice! The negative... there is a lot.. 1) The food was not very good, we went in the off season i guess and there were only 2 restaurants open 2) the rooms were not very nice either 3) The pools closed at 7pm, so no night swiming, which was a shame because it was so warm at night 4) Absolutely no night life at all, nothing, we ended up sitting in the lobby, where people check in, and sat on the couch drinking from the lobby bar! 5) Drinks were very watered down Sorry, this place has potential because of the location but it needs some major changes
When we got to the hotel, we were immediately greeted with a cold towel. Check in was very smooth with Ivan and Jackie walked us down to the altitude check in space, since we booked a swim up pool room. She gave us all of the information regarding the resort along with another young man (I forgot his name). Jackie gave us all the coupons available to us, shared with us a timeshare presentation to attend that we can get a $300 credit for (which we didn’t end up using) and ways to enjoy the resort and Puerto Vallarta on a budget. Our swim up pool room was amazing! We had the room in the corner so we had only one neighbor. We also had the room that had a small waiting area with two chairs so we had a dry space in between our room and the pool. You have 24/7 access to the pool with this room so we definitely went for swims at night and early mornings or anytime for that matter. The day we landed, we walked around to get to know the resort and stayed low key. They had a dance party for evening entertainment but wasn’t well received. We went to the adults only rooftop lounge and the music was pretty bad (DJ had technical issues). It was a nice space for views and pictures though. Day 2, we decided to hang out poolside and enjoy the resort & beach. During the day there are a good amount of families with kids. They appear to be mostly locals. So we tried to stay mostly in the adults only pools and around bars where we could stay clear of them. They also have jacuzzis which are great to use in the morning before it gets too hot out. We went horseback riding on the beach for only $25 each and ate at the buffet for lunch which was GREAT. For dinner we ate at the VIP/Altitude only restaurant and that was also great. Entertainment was Karaoke but again, not a lot of people in the room and all the songs were in Spanish (which is fine but would have been nice to have some songs in English) Day three, we actually went to another resort to attend a timeshare presentation over breakfast and got to enjoy their AMAZING SPA for free. Shoutouts to Ulisies for hooking us up at the airport. This is a whole separate conversation but you need thick skin to deal with the timeshare folks (our saleswoman was upset we didn’t buy although we wanted to do so in the future). Anyway, once we got back to the resort we ate at the buffet for lunch and relaxed for the day. We ate this night at the Grill restaurant which had a pretty good menu. Entertainment was live music and lots more people where here. I enjoy dancing so this was a great presentation. This night there were a lot of people out and about enjoying the evening. Since it was raining we didn’t want to be outside standing with no where to sit so we called it a night. Day four, we once again stayed on the resort. We ate breakfast at the buffet and walked along the beach shore to see the other resorts. Lots of locals selling plenty of stuff to purchase. Then we hung out at the infinity pool where we met Angel, one of the entertainment folks. Wish we found him earlier because we had a blast with him. We did water aerobics and had a water ballon fight in the large public pool, lots of fun! We ended up having a really late dinner at the grille which our entrees were not well seasoned but they had a great sangria. We hung out around the pools and went to the rooftop bar again where the music was better but folks didn’t stay for long. Seemed like everyone was looking for something to do on this Friday night and they didn’t have much to offer. Day five, we had an early morning swim in our pool and then ate at the restaurant for VIP breakfast. This was the best breakfast we had our whole stay. There was also a lot more people (maybe because it was a Saturday?). We had to leave around 11am to catch our flight at 1:30pm. All and all, we had a great experience at Reflect and are looking into doing a membership with them to take advantage of their sister resorts in the future. Pros: if you are a VIP guest, they treat you very well with stocked fridge, housekeeping service day and evening, personal phone calls, access to special restaurants and promotions. The swimup room gives you 24/7 access to swim, great customer service throughout the resort. shoutouts to some of the staff, Angel, Ivan, Jackie, the the guy on the beach giving horseback rides for taking care of us. They made our stay extra great! Cons: entertainment at night is not great (can should improve in this area as if you are someone looking for things to do its boring), kids can also enjoy the private swimup room so it can get rowdy, at night there are kids everywhere so if you want to sleep early or take naps during the day wear earplugs, they cater a lot to locals so majority of guests and service workers at the resort only speak Spanish (can be a barrier to communication or can help you brush up on your Spanish)
Nice resort in a beautiful mountain surrounding area, with clean beaches- some improvements needed
3 of us ladies stayed in a room off the main building, floor 3 with view of the pools. Room was basic but clean. We had a balcony w/a couple chairs, a small fridge with water, soda and a couple beers. No rooms shown online had two queen beds, so we had two full beds to share, couch hide-away bed would have provided one more option if we opted to use it. We also had table & chairs for spreading our stuff out a bit too. I heard room service takes hours so we never tried ordering coffee or anything. Staff was wonderful, good attitudes & williness to help. 3 bars we used had safe drinks & good variety.(bring your own mug w/lid & straw to keep drinks cold) also, to not waste cups. Inifinty pool was my favorite, however lots of kids in it. The bar at this pool serves snacks that are just ok. Chips/nacho chees, hot dogs, hamburgers, chicken nuggets that were not appealing. If you want lunch it seemed only the buffet was available. The biggest improvement needed here is the restaurant schedules & availability to have options for dinner. I had read they have 4 or 5 restaurants & only buffet & one other were open when we were there. Hope that changes for you! 11th floor small pool and bar is the hidden gem.
We couldn't have had a better experience at this resort. As soon as we arrived, we were greeted with champagne and beer. We had the swim out room, so we were part of the Altitude Club. We were taken to a private check in area. We were approached by the time share person, but we said no thanks and moved along. I am really not sure where all of the negative reviews are coming from. We were treated like royalty for our entire trip. There were a lot of locals at the hotel, but it was never an issue. The food was not gourmet, but it was good. There was plenty of entertainment during the day. It was a little harder to find at night, but it was there. Be sure to go to the front desk every day and ask for the English version of the daily bulletin. The infinity pool is excellent for people watching. Victor did a great job keeping the drinks flowing. He was very busy, but always had a smile on his face. Luis at the lobby bar was excellent! He went above and beyond to make us happy. Our room was great. The swim out was well worth it! The air conditioner worked well. We only ordered room service twice. Both times the food came in about 30 minutes. We really didn't have anything to complain about the entire trip. We had a great time and would recommend it to anyone.
A nice clean hotel.
The hotel was nice and clean, the pool are was outstanding, the staff was very friendly. The food in the restaurants was good to above average. We wished that the breakfast buffet had more options, most of the food we ate was tasty, but more options would have been nice.
