Romantic and stunning resort
Secrets Huatulco does not disappoint! The check in to the preferred club was simple and straightforward. The staff was very friendly and greeted us with cool towels and drinks of our choice. We decided to upgrade to a swim out location as a room was available at a reasonable rate. The room was stunning! We stayed in room 5109 which had lovely views of the pools and beach. The room was comfortable and air conditioning worked great. The only minor complaint is that the bed was quite firm. Dining was excellent. We tried all of the restaurants and the food and service was spot on. The French and Italian was especially notable for delicious steak cooked to our liking (medium rare). The hibachi grill (reservations required) was a real treat and provided good company and delicious food. The pools were very spacious and comfortable. There was no shortage of towels or chairs. We did come during off season (mid October) and it felt like we had the pools to ourselves which was great! The beach was lovely the first few days and then extensive rain in the area made the water a touch murky. The first few days it was crystal clear and the resort has its own little coral reef you can snorkel within walking distance of the pools. I highly recommend snorkeling if you can! Finally... the service and employees were spectacular! A massive thank you to Soledad, Oswaldo, Ivonne, Roberto, Laura and Salvador. You made our trip so special and unique...because of your kindness and top notch service we had the best experience out of all our trips. Mucho gracias amigos and amigas!

Refreshing and beautiful - Recomiendo
Worth me writing an English review. I’m Mexican but would definitely come back to this hotel and think it’s worth to promote to foreigners and local tourists as well. Really nice selection of food each night is different, staff extremely helpful and friendly, you feel really at home. Very good value for money as well. Breathtaking views, the lobby is beautiful, it has been one of the nicest welcoming I’ve had in a while in a hotel. The hotel is very private and cozy, extremely spacious and good level of quiet but ambience and always an activity. The bay/beach area is a bit difficult in terms of swimming in the ocean - a bit rough in the early mornings and evenings but if you walk a little bit you can find really nice calm spots. The seats are a bit far from the sea as well so worth using snorkel shoes but this is as far as the biggest inconvenience there is. Perhaps lunch time needs some improvement, the only thing close to the pool beach is the fast food, there’s an a la carte at the top of a hill but it’s outdoors and we basically had a very sweaty lunch and lunch was average. Definitely more of a couples/adults hotel. Rooms were maybe a bit old fashioned compared to the sophistication of the entire facade of the hotel. It rained on our last day and while we were stuck in the lobby waiting for our transport we were treated to pizza, popcorn and they set up a movie for us while we waited. Very happy with the level of service which was consistent throughout our stay, true Mexican and Oaxaca hospitality. Loved this place and can’t wait to come back! Gracias a todos.
Terrific Hotel, Great Service and Food at Secrets
Stayed there four nights. All the room overlook the ocean and just a short walk by the pools to the beach. Lots of lounges and palapas with constant drink service. Numerous restaurants to choose from. Good food and lots of fresh tropical fruit and salads. Nearby town very nice with quite a bit of shopping for its size. Nemorio at the breakfast and lunch cafe will really take great care of you. All the service people are very attentive and always have a smile.
A great long weekend 1-4 Aug 19
First a bit of context: I am from the Midwest USA and my wife is from central Mexico. We are both bilingual (English & Spanish) and bicultural. We live and work in central Mexico. Checkin was ok. It was very hot and we were greeted with cold face towels. Like most things in Mexico, it takes longer than it should and there were too many unnecessary questions. The one thing that was different was the porter wanted his tip before he helped us to our room. My wife understood his position because the hotel was at about 50% capacity, I did not understand his position. We had a wonderful 4 day weekend. The resort is beautiful and the location is perfect, very secluded. The views are extraordinary from the upper levels of the hotel. There is only Secrets in the bay, no other hotels. The beach is clean and beautiful. The hotel has an agreement with the local vendors not to bother the guests. If you are walking, they might approach you; if you are resting, they will not bother you. The food in the restaurants was the best that we have had at an all inclusive resort; our favorite was the Italian restaurant. The pools were also great with great service. We had a room at the pool leve with a pool right outside of our room. We did not have a view of the ocean but it was very convenient; we would choose the same room. We had a very bad experience with a hotel in the same family of hotels (now sapphire - Puerto Morelos) and were very hesitant about going to another hotel in the same family of hotels. We made the right choice with Secretes. We will definitely return.
