Huatulcos best kept Secret
Where do you start with a resort this amazing ? Clean and tidy. Friendly staff and fantastic food ! This was the best all inclusive food we have ever had. Our over-the-top people, we're J. Luis and his gang of servers at the Castaways Restaurant. These guys are Rock Stars !!
I recently visited Secrets on a day pass, and I can honestly say it was one of the best experiences I’ve ever had. I had access to all of the many amazing amenities in the hotel. We received amazing service from all the staff and management. Ileana Ponce was very efficient and welcoming, then the chief concierge Rolando Cruz was very helpful and answered all of my questions. Then Luis Hurtado, the rooms manager gave us a very through tour of the hotel. He showed us some rooms, the pools, restaurants and the spa, as well as the beach. The whole resort is completely breathtaking and amazing. Later on we had an amazing lunch at the Castaway. The food was top notch. After our meal I had the pleasure of meeting Alan who is the food and beverage manger. He was very kind, he has definitely out done himself holding his staff to the highest of standards! After walking off our lunch we met the general manager Angelica Angon, who checked in to see how our visit was going. She was super welcoming and hospitable, one of the kindest people you will encounter. To summarize, if you’re going to go to Huatulco you not only should but need to go to Secrets. The food is amazing, the pools have amazing views, a private beach for the hotel, the spa is extremely nice, the rooms are all top class no matter what room you stay in. The staff is beyond welcoming, helpful, and they always have a smile on their face. I would like to thank all of the staff and management for ensuring we had such a wonderful day.
8 good restaurants
Almost 5 stars.. maybe I am biased! It is our first second time new year all inclusive resort for us (first second time in the same place) first was almost a disaster, Sunwing left our all luggage in Toronto for 4 days! OK, pro: 8 great restaurants, well maintained, basic but not bad entertainment, not bad for snorkeling, Why "almost 5 stars"....As a returning customer I expected to be better treated when I request (Ileana) to change my room for a higher non restricted sea view! so you want a great view? choose highest floors and do not get excited by the rooms with "Jacuzzi"
We stayed at Secrets in Huatulco last week, as part of our AM Resorts membership. We had not been to Huatulco before, and it was quite a chore to get there from Denver, as we had to fly through Dallas and Mexico City. Many of the other guests were from Canada and we learned that there are many direct flights from Vancouver and other Canadian cities. Well, as the Canadians obviously figured out first, Huatulco is a somewhat undiscovered gem in the southern Pacific coast of Mexico. We loved the local towns, and the area has been well prepped, infrastructure wise, for future growth. The Secrets resort has been on Canejos Bay for quite a while, and while needing some modern updates, we enjoyed our time there immensely. We found it to have a little quieter and older crowd than some of the resorts in the big tourist hubs like PV, Playa, and Cancun. I can't say enough about how wonderful the location is. The resort takes up the whole frontage of the small bay, and the views are absolutely fabulous. The service, food, shows, and accommodations are fairly typical of the Secrets brand; all good. The spa is amazing, and while I'm not typically "WOWed", by the hydrotherapy course that most spas have, the views overlooking the bay, as the course is outdoors, make this one special. A few things, that I believe need work: The fitness center is small, and the equipment is a little older. Because of the small size, it was very crowded every morning, and as more and more people workout while on vacation, this should be a big priority to upgrade as soon as possible. However, once you get onto your treadmill, elliptical, or bike, you can't find a better view from a cardio machine, as it looks out the floor to ceiling windows over the bay. The rooms were nice, if slightly in need of remodeling, but the sole complaint we had was that because the front doors were slightly open to outside on the top, we heard noise from people walking by, and listened to our neighbor up every hour one night getting sick in their bathroom. Yes, this should be a priority for the remodel. The food wasn't outstanding, but still very good, and the staff was very nice. Although the resort was at near capacity, we really never had to wait to get a table at any of the restaurants. This is a big advantage for a "smaller" resort compared to the 1000 room behemoths being built today. The pools were beautiful...and I've run out of space for the review. JUST GO!
My husband and I just got back from spending 7 days at this resort. I have read all of the reviews. We are vacation club members and we booked this resort because it was adults only. I would highly recommend this resort. Everything was amazing from the customer service when we arrived to the room service to all of the bartenders to all of the servers in every restaurant. personally I thought the best food that we had was at the French restaurant and at spiced but only at the hibachi part I did not think that their sit-down menu was that amazing. The bar at the pool actually has really good food, so I would recommend that you check that out. Burgers, nachos and onion rings, etc! we booked the Seven Bays excursion, Sierra Madres waterfall, and then we booked a private boat tour from a guy off of the beach at the resort. I personally would omit the Seven Bays excursion and just go with the private boat tour. It does the exact same thing however it is literally you and whatever group you're with and the captain and it is so much more intimate, we saw dolphins, stingrays and it was just simply amazing to be on a small boat and feel first class. the only downfall that we had the entire trip was the Seven Bays tour that we booked was for snorkeling and visiting the beaches but when we got to the porch we had to purchase our own snorkeling gear which was 20 US dollars. That's not crazy but we had our own snorkeling gear at home, so a disappointing expense.
